Today the turnaround time was different. Very slow process. People who came after me were called ahead of me. (perhaps a different type of X-ray?) The total wait time of around 27 minutes to get called back. The time it took to change and complete the X-rays was less than 13 minutes, so it was very quick once in the back. Wait time on this visit was not the best. I would like this office to normalize e-forms instead of paper and pens. I would also like to see the same tech without having to ask. Besides that, the technicians are always nice and accommodating. My technician Laura did a great job making sure I was comfortable during my X-rays. I appreciated this!

Let's face it, no woman wants to get her boobs squished, but it's necessary and we all have to go through it, so might as well go where they couldn't be nicer, helpful and professional. Receptionist was flat-out fabulous. Warm, friendly, made me feel personally welcome. Identified herself, and guided me through the necessary paperwork quickly and efficiently. Honestly I don't believe I've ever had such a warm receptionist at a medical office! Wait time to go on to the next step was mere minutes. Was shown to a dressing cubicle and given easy-to-follow instructions. Wait time for the actual mammogram was again very short. The procedure itself was the usual, turn this way, lift your arm this way, squish squish, hold your breath and repeat with a different angle. My Professional Gal was just that, guiding me through it as quickly and painlessly as possible. Within a week I had my results. Could not have had a better experience.

After arriving I waited 30 minutes after my appointment time to be taken back. I was brought to a mobile unit outside of the building. The MRI that I was getting required contrast. I had an uneasy feeling from the start with the tech, Scott. He blew my vein in my left arm. He said I had a weak vein. I have never been told I had weak veins and have had blood drawn and donated blood many times. He then proceeded to put the IV in the right arm. He could not fit between the table and cabinet, so he was doing it from behind me. I start to feel intense pain and ask what he was doing, and he told me he blew the vein in the right arm as well. The lady who brought me back came into the room when she heard me. Scott had a look of "I really messed up" on his face. He didn't even tell me what was happening next. She took over and said I would have to get rescheduled and took me back into the building to change. I said how could he have blown veins in both arms, I just didn't get it. She said they have had this happen with him before. I asked why Scott gets to keep his job. She said they have asked themselves that same question. I could tell that came out before she could stop it. I was very frustrated and now in pain in my right arm, mainly. I have to wait at least another 3 weeks to get an appointment with them. I left and called my doctor to get scheduled with Wake Radiology instead.

She explained everything to me ahead of time & was very gentle and genuinely caring. I could have easily stressed myself out over the situation, but she was there to guide and calm me along the way. When you're going through the most stressful things in life, you need people like them to calm you & make that situation seem like it's super small. Wake Internal Medicine Consultants does not accept Medicare assignment, so the make you pay at the…read moretime of service, file the claim, and (theoretically) Medicare reimburses you with a check later. I saw my Dr. on April 21 for a mid-year exam, and they made me pay $129.12 at that appointment. But when they filed the insurance claim, they told Medicare and my Blue Cross supplementary insurer to reimburse them. So they collected twice! By July 17, my Medicare and Blue Cross statements showed the disbursement to Wake Internal Medicine Consultants, so I call Medicare and Blue Cross...both of them said the submitted claim indicated that Wake Internal Medicine should receive payment. I then contacted Wake Internal Medicine Consultants and spoke to Emily, who claimed that she looked at the claim and it did not indicate that payment should go to Wake Internal Medicine Consultants. But she agreed to refund what I'd paid at the time of the visit, and said it would be done ASAP. It's now August 1. I've heard nothing, haven't received the check...looks like I'm going to have to take legal measures to set this right. Sad, but after this I'm finding a different primary care practice.
