Anton and his crew exceeded our hopes and requirements. This was a small project to update a small guest bathroom. The original contract was clear, clean, and Anton abided by all terms. We found the price to be fair and reasonable. Anton connected us with a collaborative designer with whom he works closely (Bonnie Johnson, Spruce & Steel Design). Bonnie added a synergistic fit with Anton, providing him with critical detailed drawings and managed us (the clients) relative to design choices such as tile, lighting, hardware fixtures, etc. What stood out as exceptional was the quality of the crew and the work each of them did. They arrived on time and worked incredibly hard. Impressive was their attention to small details that shaped the outcome. From the beginning, Alan was methodical, communicative and prompt. He showed up to give us an estimate and answered my numerous questions about the job at hand. By the end of the same day of his initial visit, we had a detailed estimate in email, which we approved. Our house was remodeled in the past with uniqueness and quality materials in mind, but with 80% completion on many aspects. We needed a contractor who could help complete our unique vision. Alan replaced a large area of cedar shakes on the back of our home, helping erase the evidence of a decayed deck we previously removed. He also crafted a solution for a corner where the previous homeowner didn't seal up the house properly. Alan was organized and gave great attention to detail. He communicated his arrival and departures each day, and ended up finishing ahead of schedule. It is in decent shape, but we wanted to do a lot of work to turn it into our dream house. Rob has been our go-to man throughout this extensive process, and we can't imagine having done it without him. In fact, without him, I don't think it could have gotten done, or rather it would have been MUCH harder (me having to find people for each job), and slower. Rob can do everything. He has replaced every door in our house, all door knobs, hinges and other hardware, all lighting fixtures. He has updated the closets and replaced closet doors. He has replaced our front door and the entire frame. He took out and then covered over this weird door that made no sense and that I wanted to simply be a wall. We want to renovate both bathrooms, and he will do this, and I know he will complete them in a timely manor and that his work will be excellent. He will also be installing a hot tub for us. As I write this, Rob is replacing a rotten stretch of fencing in our backyard and a gardening shed that is attached to the fence. Oh, and how can I forget the most significant project he did for us? He created a custom floor to ceiling bookshelf that spans the entire wall of our living room, and it is beautiful. Rob is professional, skilled, honest, and responsive (he returns phone calls quickly!!!!), and his work is excellent. (As I said, our house is 100 years old, so it's full of irregularities, and Rob has mastered all of them to create exactly what we wanted.) Rob can do everything. His knowledge and skills are vast. In the future, whenever I want anything done, Rob will be my go-to contractor. I cannot recommend Rob highly enough.

We forgot to detach our hose during the big freeze this year and broke our outdoor faucet. We use the thing every weekend to clean our litter box from our two disgusting cats and very much did not want to miss three weeks now of not being able to do the deed. It was a semi emergency in that sense. I asked for a quote on the project and within 10 minutes got a response on Yelp here to my request, and they responded again to my message back within the next hour saying that they could be out today if needed. I didn't respond but they SHOWED UP ANYWAY so that they could look at it and possibly fix it if needed. Well, they looked at it, quoted it at $200 ($150 service fee for 1 hour or less of work) and $50 parts, and now it's just DONE. Essentially, got it all done before I even got responses from the 7 other companies I queried. Like, DAMN! Oh- and a word to others wanting to hire someone for service at your house: let them use your damn bathroom. I learned that the person who came to our place hadn't been permitted to use the bathrooms at the last three repair jobs they made. WHAT ASSHATS don't let folks use their bathroom?! read more

I bought an older mobile home and the inspector commented that it had Polybutylene pipes throughout which are no longer allowed in construction due to their propensity for failure. The mobile needed to be completely repiped. I sent out 7 requests for bids and chose Advanced Plumbing and they proved my choice to be a good one. They were the only one who sent a person out to inspect the mobile prior to submitting a bid, their bid was detailed - I knew what I was getting including the managing of all permits, they answered questions at the time of inspection and during the work, they pointed things out and explained what they were doing and why, I could hear the team communicating with each other and it was very respectful, they even took brief moments to just chat - a nice personal touch, and after the final inspection they came back out and sealed up the lining sections they had to open during the repipe. Wow. It's surprising that you guys do not have more reviews. You guys came out where I lived in an apartment complex in Beaverton and were absolutely phenomenal. I understand this business is completely family-owned which is very nice because you can tell everybody respected each other and respected us as tenants. Had an emergency water leak and they came right out at 2 in the morning. This company is family-owned and they sure act like it very respectful very prompt and had me up and going in no time. Most plumbing outfits that you call have too much work load not enough people and can't get out you for 2 to 3 weeks and then also don't do very good work. I hired Clog Pro to connect my house to city sewer. My home in Vancouver was built in the 1950s…read moreand had a septic system rather than being hooked up to the sewer. My understanding is that if the septic tank or drainfield ever needed replacement, the city would require I hook up to the city sewer. I decided to have that done now rather than having to do it in an emergency in the future, or having a future owner of the house deal with it when they wouldn't know what obstacles there are in the ground to have to work around than I do. I used Yelp reviews to pick two contractors to get cost estimates from. One was located in the Portland suburbs and one in Clark County. The cost was expensive but I expected that because the hookup needed to be a pumped system that goes around the yard and up the driveway, not a simple gravity connect from house to street. One contractor indicated I should initiate a hook up permit to the city so I went there. One of the tasks of the job was right-of-way work in the street to hookup to the sewer that runs along the middle of the street. The city gave me a list of contractors who are on their approved list who have done that work with the city before. I looked through the list and didn't find either of the contractors that I had picked so far, but found one that looked like a possible third option- Clog Pro. I didn't look into Clog Pro prior to that because I figured from their name that they specialize in unclogging drains and pipes rather than other plumbing work. But their web site listed sewer connections as one of the things they do. So they came and looked over the project and gave an estimate. Discussing the job with the Clog Pro supervisor (Jesse), his understanding of the job impressed me the most, although the other two companies probably would have done a good job also. Also, Clog Pro's price was lower than the other two. I hired Clog Pro. I had always dreaded going ahead with this project because of the things that could go wrong. For example, the sewer pipe had to go close to some wires in the ground that control valves for my irrigation system, and I was worried they might be damaged. But the project went incredibly smoothly, no problems. From when I first got the estimate it was only about two weeks until the job was completed. I would never have thought that this job would go so smoothly. I am extremely impressed with the job they did, as well as how reasonable their charges were.

This seemed steep so I requested Pro Drain come out for a second opinion. Chris from Pro Drain arrived and listened to my recap of the situation. He performed his own diagnostic tests and told me the source of the leak was actually from water getting outside the tub and getting through areas between the tile and the wall of the tub. All that was actually needed were splash guards and application of caulking. Chris saved us over $1,000, not to mention wall repair costs. Pro Drain employs plumbers who are looking to honestly help their clients. I will definitely use them for my plumbing needs going forward.

We needed a hot water heater to replace a broken one. American Plumbing Services installed the…read morewrong kind of water heater. It looked like a sloppy job (see pictures) and the workers were very rude. When we asked questions, the owner of the company threatened us. We paid the company in full the very next day, just to put the whole thing behind us. But almost immediately we started to notice an odor, which started in the water heater area and progressively got worse throughout the house. It became so bad we finally called NW Natural Gas to come out. Sure enough NW Natural Gas determined that there was "major spillage" of exhaust into our home as a result of the work this company did. NW Natural Gas proceeded to turn off our gas service to the water heater and Red Tagged it (see pictures) leaving us without hot water. We had an inspection performed on the water heater by the City Of Portland Bureau Of Development. The inspection results confirmed that American Plumbing Services did not perform the work to code. We still needed a working hot water heater. So we chose to have the repair work done by a different plumbing company - one not associated with American Plumbing Services - for the commercially reasonable price (multiple bids were acquired) of $1,850. We sent Anthony Johnston, the owner of American Plumbing Services, a certified letter explaining these facts, enclosed a copy of the chosen plumbing company's receipt for $1,850, and we asked for the $1,850 to be reimbursed. The owner of American Plumbing Services responded with a short phone message saying he "disagreed" with the letter and would not be sending us the reimbursement check as we requested. When we called him back, he reiterated he wouldn't send us the check and declared: "You don't have that many options available." American Plumbing Services chose to dodge responsibility for their mess. We're very unhappy with them.
