A while later, we had him install some outdoor spigots for irrigation for our garden that required punching into our drywall in the basement. They made sure the new lines had accessible shut off valves and even set it up in a way that made it easy to tuck away behind a cabinet door when the drywall was put back up. And they even found and fixed a bathroom exhaust fan venting when they were in there. Nice and clean! Also, they managed to install the spigots quickly and left the rooms just as clean as they were before work began once done. We've been using these for the a season and a half of gardening now, and they're working great. Lastly, we were having some trouble with a valve and they came over and fixed it in a minute (probably should have been able to figure out that one myself...) at no charge. If we have any need for plumbing help, Da Vinci's Best Plumbing is definitely who we're calling.

We received a limited-detail estimate of $1,625 after Pat came out to investigate a toilet that was unstable/rocking and water refilling slowly. The toilet had a crack in it, but Pat first told us it would not need to be replaced. He determined that the flange needed replacement and that there was some wood rot below the toilet that needed repair. Because M5 Plumbing advertises their ability to do full-service bathroom remodeling, including flooring replacement, we decided to go with them. 3/4" particle board was installed on the basement ceiling from below the toilet to sandwich the old flooring and allow for the new flange and toilet to be installed. We requested a more detailed cost estimate which showed we were charged $375 to "pull & reset" toilet, $675 to "remove and replace" flange, and $575 for "flooring repair, remove failed section of flooring, install new 3/4" plywood beneath floor, install new base for toilet, reinstall to tie flange to substrate." On day of repair, at the last minute, Pat determined that the toilet indeed needed to be replaced, so we had to buy a toilet for him to pick up from Home Depot. Cost us $1,745 for the whole project which took him only 3 hours to complete. My sister is living in this (our) home, so we wanted to be sure it is working properly and all is well, but we live across the country. It's hard to manage home maintenance repair from a distance. I wish we hadn't been so hasty in our hiring decision. We do not plan to work with M5 Plumbing again. It was too costly for such a simple project. We questioned the "flange replacement" charge at $675 on top of the $375 toilet "pull and set" (seems like a double-charge of $375, as the toilet pull and set should be obvious in a flange replacement), but he stood by that cost. We probably could have flown across country, done the job ourselves, and got a family visit out of it for less than what he charged us. But, alas. We made a mistake. Additionally, this is COVID pandemic season, and he failed to wear a mask during the work. He showed up with a mask for the estimate, but did the work mask-free. Disrespectful, at the least. Finally, he left a mess: garbage bag in the bathtub, scraps all over the floor, and an old toilet lid. We hoped this would be a good experience so we could continue to work with him for future work, but this won't be happening.

I went with Joe because he conveyed knowledge and competence and fair pricing for the job. The job was completed in the time anticipated, and my space was clean. Joe was kind enough to set a vanity for me as well which displayed amazing customer service because that did not impact the overall cost. The inspector from the city was also impressed with the work. I will call Joe if I ever need any plumbing (after this though, I shouldn't). 10 out of 10, highly recommend.

TLDR: Mike made a mistake that cost us an additional $1,400 and refused to take any accountability,…read morenor was he willing to even discuss a mutually favorable compromise. To be fair, the situation Mike was put in was a difficult one, which he should have ultimately walked away from. That would have been way more reasonable than what he did. There was a conflict in scheduling (Not Mike's fault) that had concrete pourers onsite before Mike arrived, and the spot he was supposed to place plumbing was already covered with concrete. When Mike discovered this, he simply had the concrete crew form out an opening for his plumbing work, but in the wrong spot altogether. While our directions for the plumbing were not exact, down to the inch, he instructed the concrete crew to put it on the opposite end of the pole barn. He did this without confirming with me. To cover the errant hole will cost $1,400. I originally offered to cover that cost if Mike would simply cover labor to cut out the concrete to lay the pipe. He declined that and ultimately said he refused to work on the project any further and would not take any accountability or work at all on a resolution. Terribly unprofessional and just gross. Stay away.

They determined that they might need to either unclog the drain or replace the disposal, they offered to try and unclog the drain and if that didn't work then they would put that cost to the price of repairing the garbage disposal. So thankful we found them and will definitely be using their services in the future.

Owner Dean Rothe walked me through the process and suggested helpful things like putting in shut offs for the hose bibs and making some changes to the bathroom I hadn't thought were possible. My realtor was so impressed with them that she planned to hire them in the future. They were helpful while I learned the DevHub process of getting a permit (wanted to do it myself lol). They made sure the work was done before I moved in and completed it on schedule. The whole process of working with their office and with the guys who did the work was super. For an unrelated emergency a few months later, they sent Casey the next morning!

However, despite me mentioning repeatedly to Nathan that my shower was American Standard both on the phone and in my text message, Nathan took one look and was like: "Yeah, I don't know. I don't do American Standard." I opened part of it for him and showed him where it was leaking, and he was like: "Yeah, you need a new part." I explained that I had already replaced these parts at the advice of another plumber and it still leaked, so could he take a look if something was wrong with the installation perhaps. He just said "No, I don't know anything about American Standard, so I don't want to touch it." He gave me a helpful recommendation of calling George Morlan, and they connected me to a company that will be here in two days, but that means another two days without a shower and we have to delay leaving on our anniversary trip on Thursday morning to let the new plumbers in. This could have been avoided if AACT Plumbing had told me they don't do American Standard when I told them over the phone AND in a text: "I need an American Standard diverter fixed".
