The Dr is the absolute worse so called pain management physician in all of CA. He refused treatment for my friend who suffers from chronic spine and neck pain and black listed him from all Dr's in the bay area. He showed up for a 4pm appointment the front door was locked and after 3 hours the dr called from his home and told his janitor to send him home that he refused to see him! I wouldn't even give this office one star if I didn't have to. This facility is completely mismanaged, and the office manager, Luci Tupou, is the root of many of the issues we've experienced. She fails to follow up, takes no accountability, and when confronted, simply dismisses patients without regard for their care. Referral mishandling: A referral was sent to Dr. Punjabi's office, and it took nearly two months to hear back. When they finally did call, they promised to follow up with me--but never did. I had to physically go to the office to make them locate the referral. They eventually scheduled an appointment for my mother, then canceled it by leaving a voicemail on her phone--knowing she doesn't know how to access her messages. No call was made to me. When she arrived at the office, they only saw her as a "courtesy," and the appointment was conducted via Zoom because the doctor wasn't even in. Prescription failure: Dr. Punjabi prescribed patches for my mother, but the prescription could not be filled because the pharmacy required additional details from the office. Once again, no one from the office followed up. I had to drive back to the office to get answers. Luci apologized and claimed she would follow up and send a text. She never did. I had to go to the pharmacy myself to find out they were still waiting for a response from the doctor's office. I had to personally obtain and deliver the information they needed. June 18th appointment: We waited over 45 minutes to be seen. When the doctor finally came in, he said they had no CT scans, MRIs, or images on file--despite us signing release forms well in advance. When I asked why the records weren't obtained, Luci's answer was, "We have too many patients." This is completely unacceptable. Patient care should never be compromised due to poor office workflow or volume. Luci does not proactively manage issues--she waits until something goes wrong and scrambles to fix it. This is not leadership. She should not be managing a medical office. Her response to me was " we have to many patients to follow up" This is not an excuse!!! To make matters worse, when I confronted her about the ongoing lack of communication and follow-through, she dismissed my mother as a patient. There is no accountability at this privately owned facility, and patients--many of whom are in serious pain--are left vulnerable and afraid to speak up for fear of being dismissed. Avoid this facility if you value proper care, communication, and professionalism. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Zachary Landman at Sutter Health instead. He has full access to patient records and works within a system that ensures proper communication and follow-up--unlike the chaos we've experienced here. read more

I thought I had finally found a Dr. that could help with my cronic pain issues , I've had for years . I thought Dr.Panjabi to be an expert, actually . I was finally getting somewhere , after too many yrs . I have to take an opioid painkiller 1-2 a day , I cannot take NAIDS . In order for that, we drug test . I take several 3-4 , RXs that caused me to fail . A false positive .. there was an issue with false notes, untrue notes in my records from them , I brought to their attention .(3 people ). I wanted them removed.. there way of handling it , was to dismiss me from pain mngt. Due to the urine drug test . Unprofessional operation. Waits are TWO HOURS and longer. Staff are completely disorganized: 1) I was billed for a copay I paid. 2) I was not told of the patient portal, and 3) I was unable to contact the doctor when I needed to because the voicemail box was always full. What can I say about advanced pain management? The doctors are very friendly and they actually care about you and not try to push a procedure on you..I've been a patient for over 10-15 years I believe. The staff everybody is nice and cordial but jasmine and Julie are so nice they have dealt with every single thing I need, they still act nice to me even though I call a lot the day of my appt. With the procedures now with the Corina virus Julie is working from home and she made me feel so comfortable to the point She explained everything that was going to happen to my medication, appts and treatment. I can call her for anything and she calls me right back or helps me with whatever I might need even though she's working from home. I've dealt with chronic pain for about 20 years, and began seeing Dr. Panjabi in late 2016. As patients, we need to find doctors who work well with us, who listen, and who provide options with which we are comfortable. Over these last two and a half years, Dr. Panjabi has helped me find a more effective and safer medication regimen, has offered and successfully performed numerous helpful procedures, and has identified multiple permanent implants, and has always worked with me to help me understand those options. Some of the other reviews here have been, in my opinion, excessively critical. Certainly at times, the office environment can be quite busy with other patients waiting ahead of you, and some of the staffing issues noted in other reviews have since been addressed by management. But, once in the exam room with Dr. Panjabi, he has always given me all the time that I need with him to address my concerns and issues on that visit. I have never felt rushed out by him, nor have I felt spoken down to or dismissed. There are times when I feel that I need a little counseling, some hand-holding, an ear to listen to me feeling sad or frustrated about my condition, and that's why I have a therapist. I long ago realized that those are things I cannot expect to be fulfilled by a pain management doctor. I feel relieved and blessed to have found Dr. Panjabi. I owe all of my recent progress to him, and I am so very grateful for his advice, treatment, and his care. I would absolutely refer anyone in pain to him. read more

Don't ever see this ____. This man is not a doctor but a greedy man. He uses his own surgery center. It was not contracted with my insurance but he wanted the money so bad that he discounted the difference. I have RSD he had to go in and do spinals to intercept the nerve signals. He hit the nerve wrong and I am left with half of my foot knumb. He did not care. He said well you signed the forms that say sometimes things don't go perfect. I wish I had never gone to him. I hope he ends up being treated the same way he treated me and he has pain but can't get any help. Oh, that won't happen since he is a doctor. It is just the public that goes without pain meds. I only see Panjabi's in his peaceful San Ramon office, which is open every Wednesday. The doctor is an excellent physician and an outstanding surgeon who has remained faithful through an era that has seen the shameless persecution of doctors in his field. (Everyone knows that street fentanyl from China has given certain bureaucracies an opening to terrorize honest physicians -- people who are brighter, better educated, and more respected than "bureaucrats with guns.") Panjabi's office can be hard to reach via phone despite all the staff at the main desk, but he makes his private number available when you must speak to him directly straightaway. He's had bad luck with hiring help in his busy practice, but he has a new office manager, and has finally hit gold with a new partner, Dr. Singa, a young practitioner who complements Panjabi's surgical skills with a holistic approach. He found me to be low on certain vitamins and other nutrients depleted by home remedies for constipation -- which, of course, is the main side-effect of treatment with opiates, the gold standard for pain relief for 6,000 years now. Pain takes all a person's energy and focus, and ten years on, I just don't know where I'd be without Panjabi's brilliant care. read more

My mothers appointment was at 9:45 and it took over half an hour for her to see a doctor once we saw Dr Panjabi he told us the plan on what we needed to do for treatment and supposedly ordered her pain medications to her pharmacy. I have suffered from on and off again back and neck pain for over 25 years now. In the past 5 years the pain has worsened progressively. I have a friend who is a pain management specialist in El Dorado Hills and I would visit him when the pain was more than I could take. As comfortable as I was seeing my friend for the management of my pain, I knew I needed to find an alternative closer to home. I starting seeing Dr. Panjabi about 4 years ago, and upon my first visit I felt comfortable with his knowledge and ability to treat me. About a year ago Dr. Panjabi told me I needed to get surgery on my back, he kept insisting I get it taken care of or one day I would need emergency surgery. Had I listened to Dr. Panjabi's demands and explanations as to why I should have surgery asap, my back would most likely be pain free today. Unfortunately I didn't listen, I really should have because if you think about it, he had my best interest in mind when he suggested surgery. Sure enough my back went out while I was in San Antonio, Texas. I was 1800 miles from home, unable to move with the most excruciating pain ever. To make a long story short I had surgery, unfortunately I still have pain, though not as bad, and nerve damage. I continue to see Dr. Panjabi and Riddhi Patel, his PAC to this day. I am very pleased with the level of attention I receive and confident in their medical opinion. I must say my experience with PA-C Riddhi Patel has been better than expected. Seeing a PA-C instead of the doctor was new to me and I wasn't sure how I would feel. Her no nonsense straight to the point approach is reassuring. I have also had several epidurals for my neck that worked like a charm. They seem to last about a year or more. Dr. Panjabi and his staff have a way of making you feel at ease before the procedure. They always seem to be super busy which is good, to me it is a sign of a great doctor or why else would so many people line up to see him? As busy as they are, the staff always takes to time to handle my questions or concerns. I would like to acknowledge and thank Jody for dealing with me. I must admit I can be a real horses ass at times. It seems like severe pain brings out the worst in people. On one occasion I was very disrespectful to Jody while she remained composed and ever so polite. She definitely did not warrant or deserve to be treated in that manner. What impressed me the most about Jody, is she never let that get to her, or stand in the way of going out of her way for me. I have witnessed first hand what Jody and her staff deal with daily, all I can say is I wouldn't want to be in their shoes. read more

I was referred to Dr. Panjabi when my former pain management doctor closed his practice, and I am very satisfied with the service of the docor and his staff. I was skeptical at first, as the office was having major issues with their phone system and web interface, but their staff was very helpful in helping me complete the necessary forms once I arrived at the office for my appointment. The doctor has done his best to address my concerns and has always made sure that my prescriptions are filled correctly and in a timely manner. When there are issues with my insurance coverage, the doctor has kept me informed and has never refused me any visits. I have only been a patient of his for a few months, but I am confident he has my best interests in mind, and I intend to stay with his clinic. read more

After years of pain, 3 lower back spinal surgeries and numerous bouts of depression and anxiety I finally moved from my home of 48 years in Tucson Az to the bay area in search of a new pain management because in Tucson my drs were dismissing me because I've had 3 surgeries so there was nothing more they could do, I was still in severe pain and all they would tell me "we can not keep supplying you narcos well I found Dr Punjabi he didn't hesitate and he believed in me that I truly was in pain and I was not a pill hopper. In Dec 2019 Dr Panjabi in planted the stim wave stimulator and all I can say is Wow!! He gave me my life bank my narco intake has decreased by 50% I am walking and hiking I shake my hips now and then lol I am smiling again, I am living again. Also I want to thank the staff for having patience with me and my insurance issues and payment plans. Really means so much because between the pain the stress you all made it easier on me. Punjabi I would, but this is for the rudeness from Paige the lady in the front!!Just wow had an appointment at 9:15a.m. & i'm still sitting here an hour and 15 min later, & this lady Paige who is sitting in the front could care less, I told her if she knew what was happening because I've been here since 9:00 a.m. Her rude response: well doctors run late all the time, I told her well it's wrong because I come from San Francisco, she could have said when I first walked in that there would be a loooooong wait today, anyways dr. Punjabi is a good dr, but maybe they shouldn't try to schedule all these patients on the same day, I just got called in, and now sitting in the exam room!! I wonder how long from here will I sit here? Was referred to advance pain management for pain in neck and shoulders. Had a MRI for Dr. Punjabi to look at. After looking at MRI that I brought from another physician, he prescribed another MRI for shoulders to get to the bottom of my pain issue. Dr Punjabi seems like a very good Dr. in his profession however his office staff is atrocious. I seen these people in action while I was waiting to see doctor. I seen these people hang up on callers and joke about it saying "if it's important , they'll call again. Then I seen a woman patient come into the office claiming why her messages and calls were ignored. Now this is my first visit to this office in Castro Valley, so I'm thinking this is-just a fluke. Setting up physical therapy was easy however getting MRI approval never happen. I went back and forth to Pain management and MRI place several times and never got the approval. I had to get a-prescription for MRI from other physician office because I couldn't get one through their office staff. All other physicians agreed that I needed a MRI. It's just unfortunate for me that I had to deal with this physician office staff. My advice is seek another physician for pain management because of this office staff poor work practice. read more

I wish I could give less than one star. This office is not worthy of a star. Dr. Riddi Patel is the worst doctor (and one of the least pleasant people) I have ever known. She doesn't care about her patients, doesn't trust anyone, and treats everyone like a criminal. Her own staff can't stand her, though they can't say anything when the Dragon Lady is around. I would not recommend this office to treat anyone. Ever. Not even my worst enemy. Appointments in the afternoon are ALWAYS a couple of hours late. The care is so sub-standard as to be dangerous, the attitude towards patients is hideous. There is never a real examination of the patient, nor does she care if her treatments help at all. She's very interested in getting you to try her offices 'medical food' supplements because they sell them through the office and make more money that way. I've had any number of five minute appointments in which all that was done is to fill out a prescription...for which you will be charged $90, plus any meds or supplements they can cow you into accepting from their office instead of a real pharmacy. I can't think of one good thing to say about this office, except that if you're lucky you won't have to see Dr. Patel. I've never said this about a doctor before, but I really hope she someday has chronic pain and is stuck with a doctor like herself. I'm sure she'd suicide, and I'd not mourn her. read more

Unfortunately I was in an accident at work and 2005. I have suffered tremendously well doctors misdiagnosed me. At one point I stopped walking out together because if I took a step I would fall to the ground. Long story short my first doctor out of state was completely wrong and my diagnosis. Because of that I made my injury far worse than it needed to be. After years of chronic pain nerve damage set in. I honestly forgot what it was like to feel normal, I forgot what it was like to walk down the street without pain until I met Dr. Panjabi. After everything I endured I felt as that he was the only position that believed me and dealt with the pain I enjoy or on a daily basis. As upset as I am for this permanent partial disability that I have to live with the rest of my life, I am grateful that I found Dr. Panjabi to help me understand this injury. He has stood by my side as I have been fighting for any type of normalcy. I don't know what I would do without him and his staff. Of course I wish I could take the whole injury back, But the truth is any type of relief that I feel is because of Dr. Panjabi. I have been to numerous physicians for my back, leg, shoulder pain, but no one bother to explain or attempt to explain the reasoning - usually its x-rays, CT scans, pain medication & mixture of PT OR very invasive surgery to attempt to eliminate some of my pain. Dr Panjabi took the time to explain different options for treatment and as soon as my insurance approval came in, the office contacted me to coordinate procedures. Although sometimes the appointments are running late (and you have to wait), it just takes a few minutes to figure out why - his office is full of people in extreme pain &/or disabled waiting for their turn to see either Dr. Panjabi or his PA; some are even worked in among the other patients. The procedures that I have had thus far has had an amazing results and I intend to continue with their treatment plans as long as I need them. Dr. Panjabi is patient with complex cases and includes me in the decision process. I've had 19 years of chronic neck/head pain and most doctors tell me they can't help me within a few visits because I'm not willing to take pain meds. He is determined to keep trying other approaches. For people who don't like to wait in the office, the trade off is someone who listens when it's your turn. You can't expect no wait time and then a doctor who takes his time with you. I never write reviews but he helped me experience the beginning glimpses of pain relief today which is more than I can say for the other dozen pain docs I've tried. read more
