I had heard good things about Advanced Home Services, but I'm disappointed with my experience with this company. I had an appointment for Tuesday, but that morning they called and told me they had an emergency and would not be able to come. This is understandable, however, and we just rescheduled for today (Friday). The appointment time came and went, however, with no sign of an employee, and no call. Twenty or so minutes after the scheduled time I called the office. I was informed that they had tried to call us last night to confirm the appointment, but no one had answered and so they had taken us off of their books. We have no missed calls and no messages. I don't understand why they assumed we didn't want the appointment when we had spoken to them only two days earlier, or why they couldn't have tried again this morning if it was that important to have verbal confirmation. Now I don't know when we'll have time to have a plumber return to take care of the water leaking from our shower into our basement, as we had time off this week and will return to a normal working schedule next week. Buyer beware. Advanced Home Services convinced me that my Furnace and AC. needed replaced. They quoted me $16,183. I thought it was high but I expected to get a furnace worth what I paid. Not a GOODMAN. After they installed HVAC system I gathered all model numbers and found retail prices for system. I could have bought this exact system for $4250. Plus labor and refrigerant. Difference of $11933. Divide by 19 hour means Advanced Home Services charged me $628. hour. After many calls and emails later Advanced Home Services agreed to refund $3000. This brought the hourly wage down to $459. hour. Sorry but no HVAC installer is worth $459. hour. It was in a rented apartment so we needed it fixed fast. our first mistake was calling advanced home services. Two service men came out and told us there were roots in the pipe. (I had already accessed the pump so they didn't have to, although they claimed that was part of what they had to do.) They quoted me $12,000 to fix the problem permanently. I asked them to see if they could just get the pump running for now and I'd handle the roots. It took them maybe 20 minutes to lift the pump out and (they claimed) 'pull the roots out of the impeller' and then told me the pump doesn't turn on at all, is not covered by warranty and charged me $844 dollars for the 20 minutes of work. They used none of their equipment nor replaced anything. They used MY shop vac to lower the water in the sump area. after they left I plugged the old pump back in and the motor turned on, though the impeller did not turn without a nudge first. I called the pump manufacturer and they advised it was a capacitor, it WAS covered under warranty, and exchanged my pump for no cost. $844 for 20 minutes of work. I just read the negative reviews and I'm a little shocked that they are for the same company I just used. My tub basically half exploded. The knobs stopped working, and my bathroom was ready to flood. I had to shut the water off to my entire house or the tub wouldn't stop pouring water. David came out last night, was able to turn my water on and get the tub down to a trickle. He checked everything in my house, from the water pressure to the drains, he checked the shower, the softener and the water heater. I've known for a long time that the previous company I had install everything had done a terrible job, I just didn't know how bad. Turns out I had three valves to turn off the water to my house, and none of them worked all the way. The pressure coming into my house was well over what's safe. The last company did not fix the water heater but instead turned it up as far as they could. David showed me everything, he asked if I wanted a permanent fix or temporary, and he made an itemized list of everything he looked at and how it could be repaired, and prepared several different plans and proposals. There's some stuff I wasn't worried about fixing right away (the old owners of my home were way too into diy so my pipe lay out is a mess but functional), and he handed me the tablet with the proposal to take off what I didn't want. He didn't try to sell me anything, and even gave me time to call other plumbers if I wanted. He treated me well, considering the last company didn't believe that I could be the home owner because I was a woman. He explained the pros and cons of everything. The internal parts of my shower and tub needed to be gutted in the end, and they replaced the faucet, knobs, and all the cosmetic stuff, and left me with the shower head that came with it. They fixed my water heater and softener, filled it with salt, installed the pressure valve, and more, all for under $2800. He was out last night checking everything, and today the work was done by noon. I had a coupon, and they gave me a military discount on top of it. The only thing they didn't do was hang drywall over the hole they opened (they made it as small as they could, and it looks much larger in the photo than it is) which makes sense, they do plumbing, not sheet rock. if I could select zero stars or negative stars, it would be more suiting. from day, one when the installers trashed my house and the salesman lied to me about getting free filters that they never did send the installed a broken flex pipe on the furnace unit and filled my basement up with natural gas if I hadn't been home, I wouldn't have had a home and my child could have possibly died in an explosion after asking them four times for the free filters that they were supposed to send I still never got them and I can't find the size of filter for that unit at Home Depot or anywhere else. They call you twice a week trying to schedule appointments for whatever reason so they can tweak the unit every three months. The unit itself doesn't even have a brand name and it is a complete piece of crap. Wow. This business is there to rip people off! We had an issue with our AC unit. Something small. They came out quickly and said we had to replace the whole system, and the quote was $14,000 for their bare bones unit and system with no bells and whistles. $14,000!!!!!! The minute I said we were going to get quotes from others before deciding, he quickly got up and left. We ended up having a guy come out and fix our problem for only $150. It now runs just fine. I had them come out to tighten a faucet that I couldn't reach because it was under the sink At an odd angle. They took everything apart and then quoted me over $4000 saying I needed a water softeneR. I took the afternoon off to be available for the plumber. 3 hours into the promised window I reached out via text to the scheduler that made the appointment with me to check on an approximate ETA. Upfront and initial contact, they are the Best Friends you thought you ever had, but then they turn on you like a rabid dog. My $14,000 Goodman furnace install worked for only one week and quit. it took them 3 hours to get it working again, then died 1 hour later. Another tech and two hours later and finally calling some one else with knowledge, they realized that the electrical was not installed properly. My concern then was that after limping along for a week and then dying, then another hour and dying,,,,,, my brand new furnace's electrical circuit boards were mortally wounded and compromised because of their ineptness. Tried to upsell me on all their products. They wasted my time by keeping me at my home for a good hour and a half asking me 100 questions.

This is really unbelievable but true. I am selling a home in Rexburg, Id and the buyer called Advanced Home Solutions to inspect the plumbing and do a scope of the sewer line. In checking the plumbing he noted it was copper pipe and showed the buyer "corrosion" on the pipe and recommended that all the plumbing be replaced. The "corrosion" was solder and I had a different plumber come to inspect the plumbing and said they were fine. Advanced Home solutions ran a scope down the sewer line and found a four foot section between the house and the street which had a slight dip in it. He told the buyer it needed to be fixed and would cost between $35,000 and $50,000 to fix. The buyer had a different company come out and they said the dip should not be a problem as long as there isn't anymore settling. I was told that even if it was a problem it would cost no more than $1000 to level the pipe. How in the world does Advanced Home Solutions stay in business???? read more

Advanced Home Services is good at what they do, and that is taking advantage of trusting customers and making them pay two times or even three times higher than any of their competitors. And they do it with a kind, smile on their face. To change out the water heater, tub, and piping in my family's single story, 900, sq. ft., home, it cost $12,000. My in-laws had the plumbing installed in their entire two-story, 5,000 sq. ft. home by a different company and it was THE SAME PRICE. That included the kitchen, four and a half bathrooms (with all sinks, tubs, etc), water heater, all the piping, and outside hose connections. These are the deceptions my wife and I discovered after we were suckered: 1. THEY CHARGE FLAT RATES. Think of it like tiers. Any work that falls under a certain amount will be charged at the same rate. For example, if you ask them to do a $3,250 dollar job and their flat rate is $6,000, they will charge you the $6K, regardless of the work. They did not make that clear when "estimating the prices." 2. THEY DO NOT PROVIDE ITEMIZED RECEIPTS. To hide how much they are overcharging people, they refuse to provide a receipt that details how much they charge for each task. When we asked to see such a receipt, they hid behind the excuse that it's "Not the company policy to provide such receipts." 3. THEY TRICK YOU INTO SIGNING UP TO BE EXTORTED LATER Though the two previous complaints are unethical yet probably not "illegal," this one most likely is. After you see the ridiculously high bill, they offer you an "amazing offer." If you sign up for a "complementary" inspection of your water heater and furnace, they will discount about 10% of your bill back to you. It seems good, but it hurts later. When they come back for the "inspection," they will look at your furnace and if they notice any "problems," they will shut it off and refuse to turn it back on because of "safety concerns." Their estimates for cleaning can range from $500 to $1,500, while a repair ranges from $12k to $14k. Their competitors typically offer free cleanings and repairs around $500. They tried to hit my wife and me with this scam during January, soon after we had below 0 temperatures. That means if they found a "problem" and shut off our furnace, we would have been without heat during the winter time. Consider this: Even when you are late on bills, gas and electric companies do not shut off your heat in your home during the winter BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL. But Advanced does. After we refused to let them do this inspection, the inspector immediately used subtle scare tactics to frighten my wife (who was alone with him at our house at the time) into reconsidering our decision. We refused again, and he immediately left, saying he no longer had time for us. Though he was plenty eager to conduct the inspection just moments before. It was poorly put together and now when I have to change the filter things are falling apart and they want to come out and fix it and charge me more they're already very very expensive. Techs David and Fran came promptly on time and did a thorough evaluation, they communicated professionally with me over the phone, as I am out of state. I sincerely appreciate the great care they took on her plumbing needs and her mental challenges with communication. Their customer service and work quality was top notch--sent me pictures and texted me when job was finished. Made me very comfortable that they were on the job. Everyone I talked with in the office was also great to work with. No literature or explanation of the softener so it has been burning thru softener salt for over a year now. One star is too many but you can't give zero or negative. We discovered a leak in the bottom of our water heater - on a weekend morning, of course, and couldn't reach our usual and trusted plumber. So, we made the call to these blokes and lo and behold they arrived. They showed the pricing up front so I can't say I was ripped off. I was just stupid and a bit desperate. Perfect storm for these clowns. About 30 minutes into the work, our usual plumber returned my call. Too late, as I was already swirling down the abyss of way overpriced AHS. All he could say was, "Oh, no!" They just happened to have a water heater on board. Imagine that. It was dented at the top but hey, here's a 10% discount. I used another coupon from the phone book, too. So my Saturday water heater install cost only $1800. Like I said, I knew the price going in. Then, this guy recommended a replacement water softener specifically built for our area. Only $5000. Yeah, right. I think I'll pass. I've talked to other plumbers in this area and they all have the same opinion of this outfit - AHS gives plumbers a bad name. Never again. If I was bleeding to death I wouldn't trust these jokers enough to buy a tourniquet from them. They will not be back in my home. By the way, the dented water heated gave up the ghost well under its warranty period and it was suspected that it was on the verge when it was installed. The repair guy was nice but thats the only good thing I can say about them. they were scheduled out so we had to wait until the next week for an appointment. The day of I Waited all day and they didn't show up. Finally I texted and asked about them coming, because they had previously texted me about letting me know when they would arrive, and they said they couldn't come and needed to reschedule....so we waited another day. When they did get to our place they wanted to charge close to 1000 for a fix that would cost us 17 dollars to do ourselves.(We just bought an entire a new toilet instead)they wanted 400 to fix a leak in the sink that only involved recaulking and tightening. They also wanted to charge us over 600 to fix an over rotating handle on the shower. We said okay because we weren't doing the toilet or the sink because those prices were ridiculous but felt bad that they came out and we weren't giving them work so they took the shower apart, said they didn't have the part and they needed to go get it. So I waited an extra half hour while they went to get the part( they were already making me late for an appointment) and then I get a call from them saying they are at the store and they don't have the part. they didn't call in advance to check if they had the part so they took up an hour extra of my time just to find out they couldn't do the job Because they needed to order it In and that would take till next week. I told them to just come back and put my shower back together. After that they tried to reschedule and I said we wouldn't be rescheduling with them. Didnt find out till after they left that they put it back together wrong and caused a leak in the walls that ruined the ceiling in the downstairs bathroom below it. They were called to put in a tankless water heater. I was told it would be immediatly hot (as I told them that I never washed my hands in the bathroom as the water was always cold). It takes a long time to get hot. this makes it difficult to wash dogs. The work was not done correctly-No water in bathtub and reverse hot and cold in the laundry. There was part of a wall removed and put back in to do some of the plumbing. I was not told that this was being done and I didn't see it until later. I could not get hot water, and there was a lot of water on the floor in the basement from the water heater. I called to have them come to rectify it and they said they would charge me $200.00 more. I said no and kept calling and they wouldn't come until I said that I would call the better business bureau. I have used a few plumbers in the area. Of them, this company was by far the most reliable, professional and expensive. On the day I called them, they came out fixed a problem one plumber failed twice to get right. They are polite and clean. They will provide you with at least 3 quotes for varying level of services and, yes, they will be expensive. One quote was a crazy proposal to replace the brand new, well-functioning water heater the plumbing was connected to! My wife and I each spent time on the phone with the Tech- while he explained why it wasn't his fault- how whoever installed the Water Softener didn't know what they were doing and he just "turned on the water" and "Sorry I didn't check to see if the hoses are connected, but we don't work on that brand- and checking to see if things are connected isn't my job" HORRIBLE. Had to call Rexburg Plumbing and Heating out- and he saw right away the hoses weren't connected. Fixed it right up. Now we are stuck with a $1,000 bill for the water clean up- and the tech who came out "Dallin" would not transfer me to the owner when I asked if they were going to pay for the cleanup damage- said he would "call me back later". I'm headed out to be deployed for the Army- and I told him I needed to get it done before I leave- and speak to his owner. No phone call- no resolution. He spent all his time trying to blame my wife for not telling him what needed to be done- well that's what he's there for- He was the "Tech" and needed to tell us what needed to be done, e.g. have the hoses connected so the basement won't flood. I too wish there was something lower than a one star rating I could give this company. To say I was taken advantage of is an understatement but now I'm wiser. I'm sure they will do nothing about the price I paid and tell me it was my own fault because I did not get some other estimates. It was late in the afternoon on Friday and all of faucets had been removed in order to replace the countertops in our house. We only need to have the old ones installed and this job was done. The plumber arrived and started to do his assessment of all of the plumbing in the house but we told him we didn't have time to do that we needed to get the faucets put in place. We had 4 bathroom faucets, a new kitchen faucet a new garbage disposal with air switch. He told us that this would cost us $3,100 dollars. I about died and my wife was shocked at the price. The plumber then asked us what we thought the job would cost. How would I know what this job would cost. I felt we were between a rock and a hard place do to the time of day and it being Friday so I signed so we could get on with it. In the end it took the plumber 7 hours to do the work. He did replace the lines under the sinks and fixed a leaky valve in one of the bathrooms. The hourly rate worked out to be just under $433.00 per hour. I admit I'm pleased with the work done. The plumber was very good but the price is so out of line with estimates that we have gotten after the fact. What I think is going to be the death knell of this company is the fact that we had a furnace and air conditioner installed by them a year ago and I was so impressed by their work I was sold on them. They have now broken this trust. I know in a few months they will be back to try an sell me on an extended warranty on the furnace But I don't think that will happen. read more

I had 4 companies come to give me estimates for a new air conditioner installation. Some were less expensive but Tai sold me on this company. He is honest, considerate, and knowledgable. The company has an outstanding service reputation which helped as well. On the day of installation Advanced Home Services sent the best to do my installation. I am so happy with my new air conditioner but more than anything I'm especially happy that we used Advanced Home Services. Thank you Tai for a difficult job well done! read more

Seriously give ZERO stars! Over inflated prices, we paid $4,000 for a water softener system that after one year doesn't work and they will not call us back to repair. Have had two other times where we had appointments and they never showed up! Finally found another company who sells the same system for $1800. We were totally ripped of f by Advanced Heating and A/C. We wouldn't recommend them for anything. Unprofessional and total rip offs. read more

I assumed responsibility for my deceased in-law's estate last year and we called Advanced Home Services for some repairs because that's who they had always used for their repairs and maintenance needs. When I got their invoices and realized how much they charge for their services I was amazed and disgusted at how much they gouge people for. A simple job of replacing a water heater and pressure tank was billed at $7,500.00 when a normal company would have charged maybe $1,200.00. I looked back in their records and discovered this has been going on for a long time. To think that they had been taking advantage of an elderly couple like this for many years really makes me furious. They should be in jail. read more
