If I could give this company no stars I would. Greg Phillips, their sales tech, came out to give an estimate on a furnace. The house is 1,000 square feet total and he quoted my father $8,000 to $18,000 to install a new furnace. Another company quoted me $3,000-$4,000 to install a furnace. My Dad is in his 70s and was almost taken advantage of. I called to speak to the owner and he was "unavailable" for the week. I asked for his email so I could send a complaint letter and his receptionist wouldn't give this out either. I assume he endorses this behavior since he is "unavailable." This company preys on the elderly. If you look at other Yelp reviews, it is clear this is a pattern with them. They are trying to pad their numbers and wallet. There is a cold, dark place in Hell for those who take advantage of the elderly on fixed incomes. Shame on you! read more

Steer clear of this company, and hide your wallets! One star is honestly far too generous for this company. These guys charged my 82 year old father $1,433 to replace a bathroom faucet! My father has hired this company several times in the past for miscellaneous home repairs, and he also pays them a monthly service fee to "check over his plumbing and check his HVAC system". When his bathroom faucet broke, he contacted this company to fix the problem. He is a very trusting person, and based on his previous experiences with the company, he assumed that the outrageous amount of money they quoted him for this repair job was acceptable. NOT! The retail price on the faucet they used is less than $250, and it took them less than an hour to replace the faucet. I was not aware that $1,000+ per hour is the going labor rate for plumbers these days! There are several great websites including homeadvisor.com that very clearly show that the going rate for replacing a bathroom faucet in my father's ZIP code is around $300-$500. NOT $1,433.00! These people should be ashamed of themselves for taking financial advantage of their elderly customers. My father is on a fixed monthly income, and these pirate plumbers robbed him of a significant chuck of his monthly fixed retirement income. REAL Classy, guys! I would strongly suggest you look elsewhere if you are in need of plumbing or HVAC repairs. There are plenty of competing companies out there that are much more honest with their pricing. You should also be aware that this company's business model clearly includes taking advantage of their elderly customers, so you should warn your aging parents, as well. read more

We were rescheduled twice and then when we told them we had a sense of urgency to fix the issue since we were selling our home, they informed us that they have a policy not to do repairs on homes that are being sold. Furnace stopped working. My wife and I troubleshooted until we narrowed it down to the blower motor (youtube is great!). Called advanced to come repair. $84 to validate our troubleshoot and take it apart. Quote was $900 for the motor and $100 for the capacitor + labor (expected another $500). We bought the motor + capacitor down the street for $190. Took us 45 minutes to install (youtube is great!). Definitely not worth $1500. read more

This is a total con company now. I used to know the owner when I moved to Idaho Falls. We went to Superbowl parties hosted by one my colleague who moved to California now. My toilet tank valve was whistling, so I called for service thinking it should be about $100 for call and $25 for parts which actually sale for less than $10 at box stores. The main reason was I have injured my knee and was afraid to bend down to remove and install. The service technician quotes ranged from up words of $900 to replace entire toilet to $382 rebuild toilet. When I asked what does that include he said valve and cleanup. I declined service and paid $39 for the call. It was the best lesson for $39 that I learned. I went to Ferguson Pluming, JT was a gentleman and even explained what part goes where. The cost was $8.44. It took me less than 15 minutes to take old part off and put new one in. I called technician back and his explanation was "we need to stay in business"! We called for furnace repair. Office staff was great and scheduled us in for same day service. The tech arrived as scheduled. He quickly diagnosed the problem and determined a very pricey part needed to be ordered. Then there was an upsell demonstration of photos and explanations of how this or that is likely to go out soon. Before he left, We felt like we should give in and buy a new furnace because of so many issues. I called for a second opinion the next day and the new repairman figured out where the dirty part was and with a little cleaning put the same part back in and it works just fine... so far. read more

We were having some issues with our furnace so we called Advanced to get an inspection for 65 dollars. He inspected it and said there were a couple pieces wrong with it and it needed cleaned. To clean it they quoted $250. To replace the two parts and clean it would be $1500. So we asked how much. New furnace would be, the tech referred us to their consultants who came later that day for 3 hrs. They just posted up and spent their time. He looked at the furnace and wouldn't tell us how much it would cost they would only tell us the per month price until I pushed and said tell me how much out of pocket paid up front. 8,000 - 16,000 for just the furnace. I asked how much the furnace was and how much were paying for labor and they refused to tell me. He then gets a pen out and starts drawing a pie chart to explain how business expenses work. I'm thinking this has to be a joke. They finally leave and we call Right Now. They break a book out after 15 minutes of checks and says 3,300 for the furnace and install and duct work. 7,000 for air conditioning and furnace. We told him what was wrong with our furnace and he said the things the tech said needed replaced wouldn't even fix it. He grabbed a couple tools and pulled the flame sensor out, cleaned it off and it worked. No charge he said. read more

I don't recommend using Advanced, they price gouge and don't do a good job with installation. Advanced installed a water softener and water heater for me. My water softener had an error code and they wanted $300 (after the $30 discount coupon) to reprogram the softener. I called another plumbing service provider to see if they could fix the softener at a better price. While they were working on the softener they pointed out that the water heater had some leaking problems. There was calcium build up all over the valves and pipes. This heater was just installed 3 years ago. The tech said that it looked like it had been leaking since very close to installation. Then he pointed out that the way the water softener was installed made it impossible to use the drain valve on the bottom of the water heater. Find another plumbing service . read more

Had them out due to a clogged main drain. They ran a camera down the pipe and found we needed a new pipe between the house and septic. They gave us an estimate and we agreed. They told us they would refund the original charge which they have not. I have called 3 times about the refund and get the same lip service every time. The job was started over the 3rd and 4th, today is the 17th and they have never returned to finish the work. I have called about that too. Lip service. Will they ever come back or refund my money? I am only giving it a one because there isn't anything lower!! They came to our house and replaced a valve that comes out of the house to hook up the sprinkler system. They gave us for or five quotes ranging from $2500 to $983, we, of course chose the lowest as that is all we could afford. We inquired with other plumbing companies and found out it shouldn't have cost more than $300 for this valve. So we called 3 times to get an itemized bill- they said they don't do that so the manager would have to call us. He never did. The WORST company to use. I am a FOOL. I trusted that Advanced Home Services would have some integrity in their pricing. But I did not do the math and I let them con me. Their sales pitch is slick and their worker seemed very sincere when he presented me with the prices. He cleaned two furnaces in my home and the cost was $680 for two and a half hours of labor. No parts were replaced. I should have done the math. Their hourly wage at $680 for 2.5 hours is $272 an hour. That calculates to $10,880 for a forty-hour work week, $43,520 per month, and $522,240 per year. Even if half of that is overhead, a worker would still make $261,120 in a year. Is it legal? Yes. Is it immoral? Yes. I am a fool. After I thought about what happened for a day or two, I called another company. They said they would have done both furnaces for $150. As soon as I post this, if Advanced Home Services is true to form, they will respond with a note that I should call them and get more information. I have already called and asked for half of my money back. Someone in the office told me that they would pass my complaint on to a manager and he would get back to me. It took one or two more calls over a four day period to finally get a manager to call me back. When I explained the outrageous math to him he said, "Let me talk to the guy who did the work and I will get back to you." That was a week ago. I have called three times since and my call goes to voice mail. No one picks up. I will chalk this up to experience. You should NOT use Advanced Home Services. Save your time and money! They did not respond as they said, and my problems have been repetitive. They may be cheaper, but its NOT WORTH IT!!! You truly get what you pay for in this case. I lost money by taking off work, then was told they could re-schedule in 3 weeks? In addition they required my credit card info before they would even come out-which sounded shady, but I complied. After the last call with them, they were rude and didn't care if I missed work- "not their problem". We had a terrible experience with Advanced Plumbing. One of their people came over to look into why the pressure in our kitchen sink wasn't good. They told us we should replace half the pipes in the entire house, because there was no way to tell where the pipes were being blocked. They said it would cost at least $1,500. We got a second opinion from someone else and that person was able to determine in a matter of minutes that it wasn't the pipes at all; the problem was in the faucet, and the whole thing was fixed in about an hour for less than $100. I had heard good things about Advanced Home Services, but I'm disappointed with my experience with this company. I had an appointment for Tuesday, but that morning they called and told me they had an emergency and would not be able to come. This is understandable, however, and we just rescheduled for today (Friday). The appointment time came and went, however, with no sign of an employee, and no call. Twenty or so minutes after the scheduled time I called the office. I was informed that they had tried to call us last night to confirm the appointment, but no one had answered and so they had taken us off of their books. We have no missed calls and no messages. I don't understand why they assumed we didn't want the appointment when we had spoken to them only two days earlier, or why they couldn't have tried again this morning if it was that important to have verbal confirmation. Now I don't know when we'll have time to have a plumber return to take care of the water leaking from our shower into our basement, as we had time off this week and will return to a normal working schedule next week. When we first moved to Rigby (October 2017) we decided that we wanted to use the water softener that came with our house purchase. Well upon turning it on there was so much rust built up in the system that it turned out water V8 juice colored. I looked up several plumbers and AHS was the only company that could come out that same day. My wife and daughters were NOT going to shower in that nasty water. They came out and said that the old system was garbage and that we needed a new system with a sand filter and UV light to aid in the bacteria and sand that is common in the well water in our area. I they put together a quote for new system, filter, UV light and an t/o system for the kitchen and this came to $15k. I about my pants!!! I called an AZ plumber buddy of mine and he said that being on a well would require more sophisticated system and that he normally would be in the $7-8k range for complete system. I managed to get them to reduce their price to $10k. Upon completion and visiting with several of the other plumbing companies they informed me that we were charged way too much for what we got. I left it alone and chalked it up as a loss and said oh well nothing to do now. Well about a month ago our a/c went out and I again called AHS and had them come out to fix the problem. Without doing much testing the technician came back and said that it was going to be $1800 to diagnose and fix the problem. That price did not include replacing any parts. I smelled something fishy and told him that I was going to get a second opinion. I then called Modern Plumbing and heating. I contacted this company for a clogged drain and was told I had a collapsed sewer line and the repair would cost me over 10K. I had already had this company do some work for me. I decided to get a second company to come out and my collapsed sewer line was fixed for $150.00 dollars. This company uses scare tactics and will not give you an estimate in writing. We were left confused about the bid and the work that was going to be done, as there were some misunderstandings when the work began. We were just very frustrated, overall. We went to Advanced the next day and talked to Cody, the manager of the store there in Lorenzo. He was very helpful and pleasant, and told us he would make things right, and he did. My husband called Advanced Home Services to do three plumbing projects at our home. Advanced Home Services showed up and did one of them. They asked for payment and my husband said what about the other two outside. The workers said it wasn't on the work order. So we were overcharged for the work done. My husband told them he would pay the bill when his wife came home with the credit card. They didn't say anything else and went to their vehicle and called the authorities. We had one county officer and a state police officer show up at our house. Needless to say they told the officer we refused to pay them. My Father in Law just had Advanced come and look at his A/C unit that had quit. They told him that his air system had been installed incorrectly and it would cost him $7000 to fix the problem. They told him his A/C was unfixable and the technician was quite rude. We called another plumbing and heating company they were timely, nice and fixed the problem for only $300. all people were polite. started with receptionist when i tried to explain we had a leak from unknown source and was assured whoever they sent would be able to locate leak and repair. the first crew had no idea what to do. they left and called someone else. second crew showed up. very competent. took 30 min to find problem and cut hole in wall to expose. but they could not make the repair. third crew showed up,40 min to make repair, using 3/4" valve, 3/4" 90 deg el,3/4" coupler and 10" of 3/4" copper pipe. allowing 100.00 per hour including an hour travel for each crew plus 1 hr on site i would expect the bill to be approx. $650.00 to 700 max. oh no!!!!!!!! $1389.00. i hope the management of this outfit enjoy what they are getting away with for as long as it lasts. at 3 pm, water running down the wall and across the floor it was too late to get someone else so i paid them. read more

DISHONEST business. AVOID at all costs!!! We received in the mail a few weeks ago a flyer from Advanced Home Services soliciting furnace tune-ups. Since we hadn't inspected our furnace, we thought it would be a good thing to do. A technician came on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015. He took our furnace apart and soon informed us that our heat exchanger had cracked! He told us that our best option was to replace the whole furnace. We found it odd, because we have a Trane furnace, which is a brand we have owned and liked before, and it is less than 8 years old. However, this technician told us that Trane was one of the worst brands out there, and out of all the Trane furnaces he had inspected this year, only one or two did not have a cracked heat exchanger because their design was flawed. We asked about a possible warranty, and he said Trane would only cover the first owner. He told us that he had to shut our furnace off and a senior technician would come later to confirm his findings and discuss with us our options. That same afternoon, two other technicians came to our home. We asked them to confirm the problem and they looked and said they did. Then they gave us the options. What they were trying to sell was to replace our Trane furnace for a medium level Goodman one, and the cost was going to be MORE THAN $5300!!! They told us that we shouldn't take time to shop around, because our furnace couldn't be turned on, and even if we did find someone cheaper, that would be because all other contractors don't do the job right. Needless to say, we were shocked at the news and overwhelmed with the cost! We asked about just replacing the heat exchanger. They said if we did that, the new exchanger would probably crack quickly anyway since it had to be Trane, and even this option would cost us over $1500! They offered financing at a rather high interest rate. After they left, we did some homework and found out that a Goodman furnace usually cost between $600 and $800, and that is the market price for a customer instead of a dealer! Even with mark ups and other overheads, that means these guys were trying to charge us over $4000 in labor!!! The more we looked into it, the more it seemed fishy, so we decided to shop around anyway. We called several heating servicing firms on Tuesday, and they quoted for a similar installation at $2500-$2800!!! That is HALF of what Advanced Home Services wanted! The best part happened when one of the contractors we called came out to look at our furnace in order to give us a more accurate quote, and after careful examination and conducting several tests, he told us that THERE IS NO CRACK AT ALL!!! And this technician told us that Trane was one of the best brands out there and he had rarely seen any problem with Trane furnaces in his 25 years of experience. Moreover, he told us that Trane's warranty does NOT end with the first owner. Even if we had had a cracked heat exchanger, it would have been COVERED! We were stunned but very happy to hear the news. In the meantime, we are disgusted with the dishonest practices of Advanced Home Services. More ridiculously, the first technician that came out didn't do anything to service or clean our furnace and still charged us for the "tune-up". No stars. Overpriced, dishonest, and incompetent. Got us for $80 on a diagnostic that didnt actually find the problem with our furnace. Then got my wife to agree to a ridiculous $500 cleaning fee that we later discovered wasn't even properly or completely done. After the cleaning he told my wife the heat exchanger was cracked and the furnace was unsafe to operate. Forcing us to pack up our 3 small children and go stay with family 25 miles away for the night. The next day they contacted us to explain repair options as well as full system replacement options ranging from $2000.00 for repair up to $13,000.00 for a replacement furnace with a fancy warranty and other bells and whistles. Looking polished and professional they scammed us for $580.00 when they didnt do a thing but employ scare tactics on a young mother whose greatest concern is always her kids. Had another company come inspect and diagnose our furnace for a second opinion the following Monday and they told us we'd been had by these guys. They found a dirty flame sensor that should have been cleaned by Advanced but had not, and cleaned it and after a close and thorough inspection they also explained that the heat exchanger was not cracked at all but in fact in good working order and even explained to my wife how and why it was working properly. They charged us $100.00 and had traveled from Idaho Falls to Rigby. I could not believe Advanced is even in business and had good reviews on Google. The bad reviews from friends and family came out of the woodwork after we shared our negative experience. Currently we are seeking reimbursement for their charges, great time to rob a young family of nearly $600 just before Christmas. read more

Predatory company! Do not sign ANYTHING with this company! They are happy to max out our credit, NOT address our problem, overcharge exorbitantly for sub-par work, and lie blatantly. We called them to repair our water heater and fixtures, but instead they sold us an extremely costly water softener, charged thousands of dollars in labor, and left us without fixing the water heater or fixtures, which they then told us would cost at least ten thousand more dollars, even though they knew we didn't have any more credit. When they left us they had not only not fixed our heater, they charged us for it, and it now leaks, which Cody said was "not a big deal", though he did not fix it. We now have to boil water to give our baby a bath, which is especially disappointing given that Tai, Cody, and Josh the manager all played the "I have young children too" card in selling their bill of goods. I called Advanced Home Services in Rigby Idaho for a plumbing repair job. A shower that was recently installed has a slight leak in the drain connection, which is fully exposed in the basement, so easy access. He come in and asked to look at the water softener, water heater, and all the plumbing. He focused very little on the issue at hand. He went outside to make some phone calls at that point. His bids were $1000, 800, 700, depending on what kind of warranty, the lowest coming with no warranty it would fix the leak. After I told him no way, he makes more calls and said a 25% discount with no warranty. These guys are the biggest ripoff I've ever come across. I own rentals and deal with repair people a lot. These guys are way overpriced and just look for other ways to gouge you. I would avoid these guys like the plague. I paid the $39 service fee and sent him out the door. Update: I contacted another plumber, and came by the same day. He fixed the problem by cutting a little off the drain pipe and resealing the drain, checked it for leaks, and problem fixed in less then 15 minutes. Cost $60. read more
