We were moving from Boston to…read moreHarvard and had about 6 weeks between closing and when we had to move to do a bunch of work on the new house. Ozzie did so much more than just the floors for us. Every time we mentioned another project, he quickly would say "we do that", and indeed he and his workers not only did the work, but did it quickly, with high quality, great communication, timeliness and of course a great price. Just to summarize what they did: 1) Sanded, stained and new poly on all of the wood floors (a lot of square footage). We did provincial stain with satin finish poly and they are gorgeous. 2) complete interior painting of all walls, ceiling, trim, doors, closets 3) sanded and refinished the kitchen cabinets to make the tired old wood cabinets have a completely new life.. (this is an incredible option to quickly and inexpensively give your old kitchen a completely new feel). He used a different white enamel and removed all the knobs and hinges and then reattached everything for a very custom look. He also did the same for the first floor bathroom and it looks AMAZING. 4) put down new slate tile in the kitchen and bathroom (previously was older linoleum). The dark grey natural stone looks beautiful with the white counters and new paint job. 5) installed new backsplash subway tile. Overall we could not be happier. His price was. Fantastic, and Ozzie is a genuinely good guy with a great crew. We will absolutely continue to work with him on future projects and have recommended him to my brother and fiends already.

We were trying to paint thinking our walls were drywall, then we realized they were plaster and that we were in over our heads. BRAUSA came in and fixed everything up beautifully, patching the plaster and making our walls smooth again. The house looks brand new with the trim work and caulking too. They got the job done (about 1000 sq foot) in less than a week which was so helpful. They also updated our electrical outlets and light switches, coincidentally fixing a doorbell that apparently hadn't worked for decades. Seriously AMAZING! I will definitely be using them again for future painting projects.

I hired them to renovate my bathroom after Luis told me they had a licensed plumber and an amazing…read moretile guy. Well, the plumber and tile guy were one and the same and the day they were starting the tile, they opened up a brand new tile cutter out of the box and started reading the instructions. They used a piece of cardboard as a spacer, so as soon as it got wet, the spacing started to get funky. I also laid out a mock-up on my kitchen table of how each row of tile was to line up that they completely disregarded after the first wall was done. I came home for lunch one day and they had installed the bullnose upside down! They also used the wrong blade for the tile cutter because all the cut edges are raggedy. I'm going to have to pay someone to redo most of it one day, which will involve me replacing the expensive Italian tiles. Aside from the horrible tile work, the window casing looks like it was put together with scraps of trim and they painted everything with a roller and didn't full nail holes before doing so. They also damaged the new tub when installing the drain and damaged some tiles installing some fixtures. The drain line to the sink was installed too high, so until we can get a plumber to come in and repair it, we had to bend the metal and tape it all together temporarily just to get the drain to open and close all the way. Finally, we keep finding set screws on the floor and fixtures keep coming apart (faucet handles will come off in your hand, towel bars come loose from the wall, etc). I never pick the cheapest contractor but Luis and Antonio assured me I'd be pleased with the final product. It looks like I did it myself and I am not handy!

I had hired Dan's Floor Store based on a good reference from a family friend that had used them the…read moreyear before. I was installing new hardwood flooring in my dining room to match the existing flooring in the kitchen and hallways so I needed Dan to sand everything down stain and finish the flooring. The day came when their employee showed up to start and all was going well with the sanding. The next day he was back and applied the stain coat, well when we got home we noticed that he had gotten the (dark) stain all over most of the base boards & door casings in the hallway as well as a spot on one of our walls (about 3' up from the floor. All of this wood work and wall had been painted (white) 3 weeks before they came to do their work so we were not happy with this. We had our painter come back and quote us to fix this damaged areas and his quote came in with in $70 of the balance we owed to Dan so Dan decided to cover our painter's bill and the balance we owed him, truly above and beyond. We would refer this company to anyone as we were very happy with the finish results of our floor and despite the damage to our fresh paint they made things right by us.

I had a great experience having John Kearns and Countryside repaint the exterior of our Somerville…read morethree-story. The pricing was clear and they checked about any additions beforehand. They kept the yard clean, with no smoking/music, and thorough site protection from lead while scraping. John painted a number of samples of our red siding colors on the house so we could find the match we liked, and also took care of matching the cream and blue colors. He and the crew also made some recommendations (like painting the downspouts and adjusting the deck color to match the rest of the house better), but didn't press if I decided differently. They also identified areas that needed wood repair (fascia, siding, porch base) and did those very nicely, again with clear pricing ranges up front. The couple times I wasn't happy with something, they fixed it right away. There was a tricky spot to reach on a 3rd floor dormer, and when I called it out they went back and got it. And the crew scraped/prepped a railing that I had initially not asked to be repainted, but they just included it in the repainting without charging extra. They aren't cheap, but the quality of work and communication is excellent. I won't hesitate to contact John again.
