He took our orange-ish white oak floors from the 60s and turned them into beautiful natural white oak floors with Bona NaturalSeal. Mark was consistently easy to work with and super flexible. He did our floor a few years ago. Very nice guy. But the final product was not good. We had water damage from a refrigerator leak. He was fast and prompt responding, and was available quickly. We had a tight timeframe and he accommodated it, so that was a plus. He never prepped the area with a tarp to reduce the wood dust from the sanding, even though he says he would. We didnt realize until he was already working away. HUGE MESS afterwards. The final product looked like it was good initially. Stayed out of the first floor as he instructed and seemed great for a bit. The finish is coming up in blotches everywhere. The floor now looks worse than it did before. And the damaged area that was "repaired" is not holding up. I cant recommend his services. read more

Here's an honest and detailed review of Mark's Master Service. They were fantastic. This was such a relief, as I've had so many bad experiences with other contractors; after hiring another company to remove asbestos flooring, who broke one of our original light fixtures, left hundreds of staples and nails in our walls from hanging tarps, overcharged us and even shorted us on the refund, I was hesitant about hiring anyone to install new flooring. However, I saw the other 5 star reviews on yelp, and after contacting Mark's Master Service, I had to leave a voicemail. But Mark reached out to me personally via text message. While texting with a business initially turned me off, he came and inspected the house, and gave me a pretty competitive quote immediately; it was a little higher than another quote I'd received, but he was extremely nice, gregarious, and professional. The other contractor I'd contacted - not so much. The day he was scheduled to install the floor, he texted me early and said he would have to reschedule because one of his workers cut his finger badly. I was at first frustrated, because I took time off from work so I could be home for the installation. However, Mark was able to find a replacement and still got the job done within the two-day estimated time frame he gave me. They installed the floor quickly, and it looks fantastic. They even staggered the floorboards in such a way that there is an aesthetically-pleasing pattern across the floor - something I didn't expect, but am very happy about. Called Mark to refinish three bedrooms and a hall of white oak that hasn't been finished since it was installed 30 years ago. First thing I picked up on just talking to him on the phone, is his knowledge of the types of houses and floors out there in the region. It showed to me that he has been in the area and in business for many years. Over the phone he gave me a price range that was acceptable to me. He told me the date and time he would be there. Unlike many other contractors I have dealt with over the years, He showed up precisely, actually earlier than when he said he would. His work truck looked clean and well maintained which is another thing I look for when doing business with a contractor. Hey, if someone can't take care of their truck, I don't want them taking care of my house! I will be having him back to finish the rest of the house soon. I thought his price was reasonable. I could have had some fly-by-night guy in a beat up truck who probably didn't have insurance for his business and could barely speak english do the work for slightly less, but I don't think it is worth the risk. read more

It's been over 3 months since I had my floor done with Mark. I had a minor detail that was bothering me over the past three months which I contemplated about calling him. I finally sent him a message and sent him pictures of my concerns. Without any hesitation, Mark offered to come over to fix it for me. I chose Mark's Master Service for the refinishing of the entire upstairs (c. 1000 SF) of my house after searching the web for local floor services. I liked the positive independent reviews and "vibe" from his website. Mark's was one of three quotes I got for the job. One was WAY low--but the owner quoted (by text) without even coming to see the job (suspicious). Mark's price was competitive with the third company. I was impressed with how quickly Mark responded to my initial inquiry and follow up questions. He was also at my house within a day of my first call and submitted the quote via email the same day. Mark worked with us on schedule and then came EXACTLY on time and completed the job A DAY EARLY. He and his team worked hard and fast, were remarkably professional and polite, and most important--did outstanding work. We have two different sections of floor with two types of wood and Mark was able to get the stain very consistent between the two. The floors look beautiful. A few weeks after the job was complete, I found a long hair (we have three long-haired girls in our house) that had apparently gotten stuck in the polyurethane. It was in a conspicuous place, so noticeable (at least to me). I called Mark to see if there was anything that could be done to fix it. He responded instantly and, surprisingly, came back to my house a couple of days later and did the fix. In summary, this was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a home repair/improvement contractor--and we have remodeled our house from top to bottom. The quality of his work is superb and he made the process of having my floors refinished as easy as possible. The times Mark came over to my home, he always showed up precisly on time. When he showed up to give me an estimate he thoroughly explained all of my options and the procedure for refinishing the floor. He was extremely informative and had answer to all of my many questions After Mark finished the work I accidentially stepped on the wet polyurethane and needed Mark to come back and fix it for me, which he did gladly, no hassel, no questions asked. Your average contractor would get annoyed and take forever to come back to resolve the issue, but not Mark. He was just happy to help and came back over in a few days. Bottom line, Mark is an honest and professional craftsman. The work he did for me was supurb. I could not be happier with the final result. He vacuumed and dusted the floors multiple times before applying the final finish to be sure that no particles or dust would get caught in the final coat. Your average floor guy would just vacuum the floor over once, but Mark carefully cleaned over the floor several times to be sure that every last particle of dust was gone. I never realized what floor refinishing involved until Mark refinished my kitchen for me. My kitchen floors were previously lacking luster and dinged up. Mark smoothed the entire floor out and I couldnt believe the end result. I never thought anyone could get the floors to look so nice and previously thought I would be better off installing new floors.
