When I realized I'd be here for an extended time, my PA store shipped my glasses to the Slidell store. The staff in Slidell was super friendly and helpful. Since you cannot purchase the toppers in the…read morestore you are provided with a tiny slip of paper with a QR code that has a discount code attached to it. Unfortunately, it was misplaced. I contacted this store to see about getting another and not only was I told 'no' but the the gal I was on the phone with changed her 'friendly' tone to one of 'suspect'. Dr. Zegar was excellent, professional, clear in communication, and made the eye exam easy to…read moreunderstand from start to finish. However, my experience with the front desk staff, specifically a woman named Deanie, was disappointing. While I browsed for glasses, she watched me from her desk and made multiple comments about which frames I should or shouldn't be looking at, based on my insurance. Despite me stating that I was open to paying out of pocket, she continued discouraging me from looking at certain racks...I wonder, why? She also informed me that my insurance only covered $40 toward glasses. I later confirmed that my plan actually covers $100. This misinformation could've directly impacted my purchasing decision. While I was still in the store, another customer came in and mentioned that no one had returned his calls in over two weeks. Deanie's response was defensive and dismissive, stating, "I always return calls." Due to how condescending, rude, and pushy she was, I ended up leaving and purchasing my glasses elsewhere. I want to be clear: Dr. Zegar provided great care, but the front desk interaction was unprofessional and needs improvement. It made what should have been an exciting moment--picking out my first pair of glasses--feel uncomfortable, rushed and frustrating.

I wish I could leave negative stars. About a year ago I took both of my teenage daughters in for…read moretheir annual eye exam, and they both expressed that they wanted to get contacts. He told my oldest that he would not write her a prescription until she could prove to him she would wear her glasses. I did not ask this man to play daddy, I asked him to write a prescription for contacts. There is a reason she doesn't want to wear her glasses but she would've worn the contacts. Yesterday a request was sent to transfer her prescription to a different doctor. They sent a completely illegible copy so I went in to ask for a paper copy and they said they deleted the file. That is illegal!! When I told the woman that's illegal, the state requires them to keep a copy of records for 3 years she said she knows but that's how they do things. So you know what you're doing is illegal but you do it anyway?? I will be reporting them to the state medical board.

Ochsner billed $545 for a basic eye exam. Davis Vision paid there part of $152. I paid my copay off $20. Over 4 months later Ochsner is still billing me the remaining amount of $373! Nobody at Ochsner is willing to help or listen to the issue. Appears Ochsner is billing me for "coinsurance" instead of a "copay". Davis Vision calls Ochsner but nobody answers and Ochsner never receives correspondence. I was planning on sending my family to Dr. Nihn, but after all the time I've spent on the phone dealing with this unresolved bill- I'm never going back! Davis Vision advised I'm not the only one this happens to with Ochsner. Be warned!
