I've been a patient here for the last three years and have been treated by Dr. Miceli, Dr. Jacobson and Dr. Liu. They have been excellent. They take the time needed to understand the problem and explain the solution. The staff has also been uniformly respectful and kind. I see that a lot of reviews here are pretty old. one 15 min appointment with P.A. kocics (in which I was not prescribed anything) cost me 400$ out of pocket altogether after insurance. I was assured a test I didn't think I needed would be inexpensive and covered by insurance. It was sent to a lab in Meriden that charged 500$ and billed me over 200$. I've been going to this practice for well, over 25 years, and while the doctors and the level of care are excellent, this is a perfect example of a practice that has become "too big for it's britches". I called in late June because I have a skin condition on my left hand that is causing me pain. After waiting on hold for 15 minutes, my call was answered by a very abrupt receptionist, who proceeded to tell me that all the doctors in the practice were completely booked into the middle of November. She suggested that I call back every morning at 8:30 to check for any cancellations on that day. I can't believe that this is how this practice chooses to treat its long-standing patients. I can only assume that Botox and fillers have become more profitable than attentive healthcare. Needless to say, I will be searching for another dermatology practice. read more

I have been going to Advanced Dermcare for about 20 years and have seen many doctors there and had some good but more often poor experiences. The most recent doctor I've been seeing is Nicole Strand; she is wonderful and patient-focused in demeanor and care. Not all of the doctors seem to have time to explain things like she does. I have been a patient of this practice for over 25 years, and I am so disappointed in them. As others have mentioned, over the last decade, their front desk staff has become increasingly rude, dismissive, and disorganized. Despite this, I have stayed with the practice because I have a long relationship with them. That being said, today I went to make my appointment for my annual check, and the scheduler told me that "due to cancellations and how busy they are, they can't make an appointment." I truly had no idea what she meant with this cryptic explanation and after painstakingly prying the info from her, she said, "well you cancelled too many times and now they will not see you anymore." I was shocked. I had to cancel my annual check twice in a row last year due to an extended illness, but that's it! I cancelled timely (over 24 hours in advance) and it was unavoidable, as I was very ill. Never once at the time did they let on that if I cancelled I would be ex-communicated from the practice! This practice has seen thousands of my hard-earned dollars in the past 25+ years, and I can't believe they would treat me this way for cancelling twice while ill! She then went on to say I cancelled 6 times. Ummmm....no! What they are referring to, as I explained to this scheduler, is the 4 times they somehow crossed my phone number with the details of another patient (a male) and blew up my phone with text message appointment reminders for this gentleman repeatedly last winter and spring. I had called their office to tell them they were sending messages for this man to me by accident, which they apologized for emphatically. I guess now though, somehow my patient file has taken the hit for this gentleman's "cancellations" as well as my own, which, as I mentioned, were handled responsibly and within their cancellation policy parameters. What a truly disappointing experience. Advanced Derm, shame on you. Do better! I feel sorry for the patients who do not have the resources and means to deal with your nonsense. I am happily taking my business elsewhere. Oh, and please stop calling me, I see the 4 missed calls from you (likely apology calls for this latest blunder on your part.) This relationship is over. Horrible front desk. Very rude and made a comment or eye roll after the last 3 people that walked In. Young girl with glasses has a serious attitude. Making an appointment is next to impossible & while I sit here and wait nobody is answering the phone. Coming from a spa that works in customer service this is HORRIBLE. Was not a fan of Dr. Goldberg either he was very rude to his assistant right in front of me- so awkward!!! I have been going to advanced dermcare probably for about 20 years. My physician at the time was Dr. Federman who everyone knows is the most awesome doctor ever. She is now semi retired (and well deserved) but the team there is always so professional, fast in serving you and my last doctor that I saw was amazing as well. If you need a dermatologist this is the one and only place to go in Danbury area. I love them, my family loves them - as a medical practice they really have it all together! Also after reading some of the reviews below - wow those come from a while ago. I have never ever received a rude front desk in 20 years and now they use an app to insure that your appointment is cancelled and I bet if they close the office they send an app message as well (just check on that with them) - My husband had a horrible infection on his leg and Dr. Federman handled his care, my daughter had a port wine stain on her face and Dr. Federman did the laser on her - I go in about every year to check moles etc - I am telling you if you need a really well run machine of an office - and good doctors - this is a place. read more

BIG office, with a lot of Doctors to choose from. Dr. Grace Liang Federman seems to be one of top doctors that you need to book at least 1 month in advance to see her. I am currently seeing Marcus A. McFerren, MD, PhD who is easy to book an appointment with at any time. When calling you need to specify which office location you will be going to, they have two other offices: Southbury and Ridgefield. Some doctors such as Dr. Maritza I. Perez will require you to go to their Ridgefield office for your first appointment and you will be checking in at a different desk in the danbury office. Overall office appears to be a well oil machine despite their large size. Friendly staff at the front end. When checking out however, it does sometimes feel a little rushed. But yet again, I've never seen a line at any other doctors office to check-out...remember there are tons of doctors here seeing patients simultaneously. They have a Medi-Spa on premise that offer: Peels, Microdermabrasion, Facials done by a medical aesthetician as well as Physician administered services such as: Injectable fillers, Botox cosmetic, Vein Correction Treatments for face and Legs, Laser hair removal, Photo Rejuvenation, Laser Correction of Brown Discoloration (age spots), Laser Skin Resurfacing as well as hair transplant. They offer a free consultation (203-798-6575). Parking lot is usually full, but have never had a problem finding a spot (pretty big lot). One part of the waiting room has a large TV on the wall to keep you entertained while you wait. read more

I recently visited Dr Federman for a skin check and a new lesion. The care was outstanding. Here's more details on my evaluation: Short wait time - check - easy check in process and less than 5 minutes wait time Doctor spent quality time with time - check - she and a nurse colleague provided a thorough exam and conducted a minor procedure (not expected before the visit) after explaining the risk and benefits for such Clear instructions on next steps - check - Dr Federman gave instructions for home care and return visit, and the nurse handed me written instructions as well Overall as enjoyable as a visit to the doctor can be. Nice doctors, but every appointment i called in instead of making in person got messed up. I even got a voicemail with my appointment details, left class early, and went there just to find out that the voicemail was wrong and they didn't know who called me, since they out source that stuff. My second appointment with one of there docs months later turned out to be set up on a day that doc wasn't at this facility. All together, there nice people but they really need to stop outsourcing there calls or just get a better call center. read more

I Just got off the phone with the rudest and most condescending scheduler I have ever spoken to in my life. I don't know what is going on in her personal life, but it was very obvious that she was taking her anger and aggression out on me. My 82 year old mother has blisters literally all over her lower legs, one is the size of an apple cut in half, and this woman actually gloated about the fact she couldn't help her to get an appointment sooner then two months away. I honestly can't believe they would hire such a negative, demeaning person to answer phones and communicate with the public. This office has a terrible communication system. You can't ever get a live person on the phone; a recording says to leave a message and they'll get back to you within two days which is outrageous. If you are lucky enough to get a return call and you miss it, they never call back and you must start all over by leaving another message. So frustrating! I couldn't get a simple prescription filled because Advanced Dermcare did not follow up with my pharmacy. I had to quickly find another "capable" dermatology office to get my prescription. This is a large practice with wonderful physicians and multiple sites. I have seen Dr. Gohara for several years and just love her. I would have given 5 stars, but I find the schedulers rude and arrogant. In a recent exchange, I had to bite my tongue as I endured the condescending comments from a young woman as I tried to find a date that worked. Called this place to make appointment. The receptionist Kristen was extremely rude, and she kept yawning. I asked her is she was tired as she kept yawning everytime I would ask a question. She was so rude saying oh yes I am so tired I didn't sleep much last night I was out late, and went on and on. I was shocked. She said she could get me in 2-3 weeks in Danbury office Southbury would be way far out. Themn she told me the soonest for possible skin cancer I was sent from the ER suggested to go for testing she tld me it did not matter and it would be over 2 months to get into be seen. As a physician, I was shocked that the front desk staff made a VERY unprofessional comment about a patient as he walked into the back examing area in front of the entire waiting room. Had an appointment scheduled for 9:45 with Goldberg. Was taken to inner waiting room @ 10:10 and asked to remove clothing down to my under wear (total body check) and wait for Goldberg. Waited for 30 minutes half naked. Finally, got dressed and walked out. The most telling aspect was that no one seemed to care. It must be nice to treat patients badly and not have to answer for it. Have since mentioned this to friends and heard several similar stories on wait time with this practice. They jam as many appointments as they can into the day. I had a very poor experience here in just one appointment. They have two locations - one in Ridgefield and one in Danbury. When I first called I told the appointment person I was looking to have an initial consultation on cosmetic procedures (facial fillers etc). My appointment was made in the Ridgefield office. At the appointment the first thing the Dr. told me was that he is not the right Dr. for anything cosmetic, he doesn't do that and all of that type of work/Dr's are in the Danbury location. However I was still charged for the appointment. My impression is that this was a gimmick to cause me to book another appointment, and from what I see from another reviewer my experience is not unique. read more

Dr. Federman is the doctor of choice at this practice, but while she SEEMS nice she is dismissive and uncaring about your situation, but with a big smile on her face.
