The staff is generally nice, but prepare for an overwhelming number of texts and phone calls regarding upcoming appointments--far more than I have ever experienced. It can be incredibly annoying. Be cautious if they have questions about your insurance before an appointment, as you may feel like you're being stalked. When they need something, everyone is on high alert, but when you need assistance, it's a different story altogether. What I should have done was come here first before taking a chance. DO NOT GET IMPLANTS! mine lasted less time then it took to get them. The first time one of them failed he started all over again. The second time he said it's because of the medication I had taken. The first one failed while was NOT on the medication. His solution was I am not a viable candidate for implants so I should get a bridge. However he wants to charge me thousands more without any consideration for the thousands I have already paid. I could not be more thrilled with my new smile makeover from Dr. Mike Maroon at Advanced Dental! Admittedly, I needed extensive tooth restoration completed on the vast majority of my teeth; all but one needed crowns. My alternative was to loose my teeth at 37 and that was an exponentially horrifying and overwhelming possibility. I initially went into his office feeling extremely overwhelmed, embarrassed, and anticipatory. I had received 3-4 different opinions from other dentists who made me feel ashamed about how bad things were. However, Dr. Mike and his team immediately made me feel at ease. He was undeniably the most knowledgeable, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. He explained to me what we would need to do to save my smile. He also gave me options and was willing to work with me on this costly endeavor. Dr. Mike is hands down the best dentist I've ever been to and I would HIGHLY recommend his expertise and knowhow, especially for those needing extensive restorative and cosmetic work. Honestly, I'd never go to another dentist ever again and would probably cry if he ever retired. Everywhere I go, people are commenting on my, "million dollar smile," and for someone who had very damaged teeth, nothing could feel better than hearing such kind words. So I used to be a satisfied patient at Advanced Dental, and had previously written a glowing review. Then things started to go downhill... I had sealants, as an adult in my 30's, because my hygienist at Advanced Dental talked me into getting them in 4 teeth. They weren't cheap, and weren't covered by insurance. But I did it as she said otherwise I was likely to get cavities. So imagine my utter surprise when I was told I had cavities - wait for it - under my sealants!! Because the edges had lifted up. And I guess we don't chalk it up to shoddy work, no - I had to get two cavities filled and had to pay up for that as well. My ultimate disgust came when I went in for my last cleaning (probably 2+ years ago now). The dentist was too busy to see me, so I left after my cleaning. Imagine my surprise when I got a call to say that the dentist reviewed my X-rays after I left and I had several cavities and needed to come in IMMEDIATELY to get them filled at x cost. There were numerous calls and they even sent me a letter - just trying to make that money!! My favorite line that an employee said to me "but your benefits expire at the end of the year - you'll lose them if you don't use them!" To which I responded that I didn't find it a "benefit" to drill into healthy teeth! Maybe it all would have been more credible if they had first suggested coming back in for the dentist to actually examine me...which was already part of the services my insurance paid for on that visit. But instead they went to the nuclear option, willing to drill into healthy teeth for a small payout. The reason I have waited so long to post this? I wanted additional opinions. I have now been to two different dentists, both doing X-rays and exams, and to date have had NO cavities and NO additional procedures performed. According to my current dentist, I have a couple teeth that had shadows on the X-rays, but go figure...ON EXAMINATION she said they are okay and we'll just watch to make sure nothing changes. That's the reason we have the dentist examine us, to prevent unnecessary work based solely on an X-ray. So it's up to you if you choose Advanced Dental. I was a loyal patient for many years. But the focus in the practice seems to have shifted. If you feel like something is not right - speak up! Get a second opinion. You only have one set of teeth and you don't want them drilled up unnecessarily. read more

30 + years of Mike Maroon, he bought out my prior dentist, and I stayed with him. 3/2018- I had complained for over a year my mouth hurt,full xrays on my final visit and all Maroon suggested was a nightguard. 2 weeks later- I had a rotting tooth extracted, a large cyst under it was eroding my jaw and had been there a long time my new dentist told me. Thank you for many years of care but leaving your practice was a Godsend. Relentless with the calls, texts, and emails. First of all, I clicked the link online for an advertisement for $1000 off on the Invisalign. Enter my name, email address and requested some information about their advertisement. I finally call and ask a question about wether or not they would be able to repair my fillings before getting fitted for Invisalign. I spoke to a lady. She said she would check with the doctors and get back to me. She never got back to me. The phone calls, texts, and emails continued so I call back again. I spoke with a different lady and she was so rude I want to go to the office and slap the snottyness right out of her. Disrespectful. More concerned about money than patients!!!! I had a consultation about a bad tooth, staff was great, no complaints there. Before I could make the appointment to remove the tooth I had to pay half of what it cost to remove the tooth. Removing was painless, no issues there. I needed the receipt to forward to my HSA and upon review it had not been submitted to my insurance company when they charged me 500+, not okay with that. My insurance covers 80% of tooth extractions, they are in-network and should have billed me afterward. I reach out to them, I'm told they know what the agreed amount is from insurance and if they pay, I'll be refunded. What would have happened if I didn't know what my insurance covered? Who has 500+ dollars laying around during Covid? I'm only supposed to pay 20%, btw asking me for my credit card after they numbed me up is unprofessional. They also billed my insurance for an office visit for that same appointment. So I filed a complaint with my insurance company. Marking people pay to secure an appointment, asking for the balance in the middle of the procedure and not waiting for the insurance is unacceptable, they have now loss me as a customer!! read more

So glad I found Advanced Dental! I just had a few cavities filled and was treated by Dr. Sheth. Her and the dental assistant at the time of my appointment ( I believe her name was Tia) were both amazing. I had visited four other dentists previously until I finally found a place I liked. I have an issue with my jaw which makes keeping my mouth open for long periods of time fairly uncomfortable. Every other dentist I had seen either ignored it or found it an annoyance but didn't bother to mention anything to help me/ explain what is going on. Dr. Sheth was the first dentist to really look at my care as a whole and take the time to explain what was wrong/ accommodate my discomfort. Overall it was a great experience and I have definitely found my new dentist! They are a bit pricier, but not as extremely priced as other reviews say. If you are willing to spend a bit more for great care I would highly recommend them. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Maroon at Advanced Dental, in Berlin, CT for my dental work for well over 10 years. I first went to him for a consult for some repair work. I had a broken front tooth and wondered what route was the best for me. My mouth was filled with teeth that had root canals, crowns, multiple fillings and looked like mosaic tiles. Unfortunately, my genetics gave me soft teeth and my history was poor dentistry. I had a chipped front tooth. I lived with it for quite a while trying to figure out what to do and what this was going to cost, what made the most sense for the investment I had to make. I had to decide if I should have it repaired, veneered, crowned, or what. My teeth were crooked, discolored, and mismatched. So, I wondered if I should fix the broken tooth and have my two front teeth mismatched more, or do 2 front teeth, or 4, 6, or more. I went to 3 other dentists in the area to get recommendations and asked for references. I called the references and decided to trust Dr. Maroon with an expensive project in my mouth. One of the three references indicated that he was an artist and a perfectionist. I have to agree! There was so much work to be done in my mouth and the recommendation was extreme, but necessary. I decided to have Dr. Maroon crown all my top teeth! I now have straight teeth, that look natural, don't discolor with coffee & tea, and that work better than my own teeth ever did! The bonus is that I get compliments that "Your smile is beautiful!" or "your teeth look so good". Most of my bottom teeth were also crowns, but over the years, as more fillings & crowns had to be replaced, Dr. Maroon matched the color of them. Last year, I finally had the last teeth, center bottom, crowned. They were in less need than all the other teeth, but very crooked and always had plaque build between them. Now all the teeth match, are straight, and all of them look good. The job is complete! I'm a pretty practical person, and fiscally conservative. But the new look is amazing! It does wonders for confidence! Occasionally, I look at the before and after pictures, such a major change! And I'd recommend seeing Dr. Maroon for suggestions for solving dental problems. I wish I had done this long ago! You can get the recommendation from him and discuss how you can proceed according to your schedule and your pocketbook. It was expensive! But I expect to have my teeth work for me for many more years! And I am enjoying the improvement. I work at taking care of the investment I have in my mouth! They have held up very well! I love that I can floss, brush, with no appliances or partial plates. Nothing comes out! They are just like natural teeth, only better! Edyta is my regular dental hygienist and always does a great job. I enjoy her personality and her values, so that makes the experience nice too. She takes her work seriously and I'm always pleased with her work and her evaluation of my dental situation. I'm happy to recommend Dr. Maroon and his staff for major or minor dental care! And I would suggest, that for something so major, that you do see multiple dentists and ask for references! I love the hygenist Adid (I appolize for misspelling!) in the Berlin office of Advanced Dental. She is always smiling and she cares about her work. I have always hated getting my teeth cleaned. It hurts, my gums are sensitive and hygienists at other places are rough in their technique. She is the total opposite. She goes slow, she is gentle and she checks in with you to see how you're doing. Even though my anxiety and fear may seem silly or unwarranted to others, she takes it seriously. Just to give you an idea, they charged $490 for a filling. A FILLING. (After insurance, it was $329). At the first appointment, they were calling it "binding" and using other terms for it (I know very little about dental terminology, but I do know when I am getting ripped off and have since looked up a lot more information), but when I got to the appointment, they said filling. I have never paid anything close to $300 for any fillings, no matter what the insurance. UPDATE: I originally had a yelp account under my middle name and last initial, which I sometimes go by. Despite accusations otherwise by this business below, I was a real client and will gladly email copies of my bill to anyone who asks. I have had a string of bad dental experiences since age 16. Let's just say, i considered never going to a dentist again because of some of them, some of them were that horrible and scarring. But, I did get an excellent referral from my coworker and decided to take one last chance. From beginning to end I was blown away, starting right when I walked in the front door. Their customer service is the best hands down. You actually feel like a client paying for a service and getting treated with respect. I read some negative reviews claiming, to many confirmation calls, a gift card in exchange for moving an appointment, and expensive. Well, as a hair stylist, people often miss the one confirmation call they are given and typically claim they never got one, I have to move clients appointments and offer them nothing but and apology so I think a gift card is a nice gesture, and being in the service industry, you get what you pay for people. I went to aspen dental spent just as much money and regret every cent of it. I don't mind paying 100% out of pocket when I know I'm getting quality work and I am well informed of what is going on. They also have a lot of payment options that someone will go over with you in a private area so no need for embarrassment. I have been going to Advanced Dental for about 9 years and I have had nothing but top notch service. Dr. Maroon and his staff are one to be admired and commended. They are not only professional but at this point, they feel like family. They have always been open and straight forward about pricing and insurance. They sit down with you and explain all your payment options and what needs to be done. I have had everything from zoom teeth whitening service, silver fillings switched over to composite ones and even veneers. I have been so happy and grateful for all my services. I went to Advanced Dental because I was referred by a friend. The entire staff was very nice and friendly. I knew i was going to need alot of work done. They sat me down and gave me a detailed list of what the costs would be and what my insurance would pay and what I was responsible for. Everyone there always does their best to make sure that you are comfortable. After I finished getting my fillings, I still wanted to fix my smile. My front teeth had a gap and i hated it.
