Don't go here if you value quality!!! I had to get my water pump replaced 2 years after they installed it because they put a low quality aftermarket part in my car. The full story: I had them replace my water pump in December 2022. A quick google search says that a water pump should last 60,000-100,000 miles minimum, but 23,000 miles later it failed and I had to get another water pump replacement in November 2024. I talked to Jeremy at Advance Auto Tune and he said they install OEM parts (specifically Aisin for my car) but when my current mechanic took the part out of the car, they said the part that was installed was an aftermarket part. Advance Auto Tune refused to give me any money back, so I'm out $1000 because they installed a sub-par part. Feel free to reach out to me for details. read more

This is the second time we have used Advance Auto Tune. They replaced the alternator the first time. It went bad on me shortly thereafter, and they replaced it, no questions asked. This time, the blower motor for the defroster went out. We weren't sure they would be able to get us in on such short notice, but they got us an appointment in less than 3 hours. I recently went to the Camry dealership to figure out why my check engine light suddenly came on after intense rain storms here in Seattle. I was quoted $436 for a two hour diagnostic from the Camry dealership in Renton just up the street from this location. $436 to connect a computer to my car to find out the error codes that would explain why the check engine light is on. That it will not take two hours to run a diagnostic on a computer on my car first red flag. I was recommended to Jeremy by my brother and my brother said he is a great businessman, services are great value, affordable, and efficient, and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to cars. I could not be happier. With Christmas quickly approaching, no one wants to go spend thousands of dollars right now on car repairs. Not only did I walk out of here paying zero dollars. Highly, highly recommend. I've been getting my maintenance and repairs done here for 8 or 9 years now so this review is way overdue. On top of the fantastic work they do, they're also a great company that supports the local community. Jeremy is always great about checking over my car to make sure it's running smoothly, and provides amazing service. He'll let you know if there are any concerns and whether it's something that needs to get fixed sooner rather than later, or if it can wait. They've also negotiated some fantastic warranties with their suppliers so if anything does start acting up years later, it'll most likely still be covered. When buying my current (used) car, I brought it in for an inspection before signing any of the paperwork. 5 years later it's still running smoothly and doesn't need anything more than an oil change. My old car had a lot of problems but none of the things that Advanced Auto Tune fixed broke again (it was something different crapping out each time). Jeremy, and this car service is the place to go to, when you have a car issue. My story: My car had multiple problems, long and difficult story, my son was driving it in WA, at night, mountains, hit a deer...car got badly damaged, he went to the hospital...I had to bring the car to Renton car body service, but the manager there refused it and send it to Olympia to be fixed. After it was fixed in Olympia, it had to be brought back to that body shop in Renton, so I can pick it up, because I'd be flying from Los Angeles to Seattle and it would be closer to pick it up; but it needed new tire and oil change, which the body shop refused/not capable to do. So I found Advanced Auto Tune, which is right next door, to do that. Now, Jeremy: he was happy to help, he communicated with both body shops, Olympia and Renton, to plan and schedule the drop off of the car, him picking it up and everything and the logistics of it....Jeremy worked with Olympia and Renton car body services, impressively, he answered the phone himself, EVERY TIME, every time he was kind and helpful. In this kind of unfortunate set of events, that means A LOT...! When the car arrived to Renton, he picked it up, and changed the tire, oil, run the diagnostics...so when I arrived to pick it up, it was ready to go to a long trip back home to LA. I will not go here again and here's why. I went here to have my emission system diagnosed and worked on as I did not pass the emissions test. The only thing that I asked this guy to do was to loosen my muffler saddle joint, tuck the muffler up a few inches and then tighten. The rest of the emissions work was up to him and he, by state law, was only to do work related to emissions and that's all I asked him to do and was the reason for my visit there. Instead, he did not do the simple task that I asked as it related to emissions but spent just as much or more time troubleshooting my suspension and his report is below: "Front passenger side wheel bearing is dangerously loose rec. to have wheel bearing replaced asap the brake pads are very low. the driver side front upper ball joint is very loose and dangerous. the front driver caliper is leaking brake fluid and could cause fire. the inner pad is 0% life rec. front end work asap not safe to drive." If you go here or to any other mechanic, get the tasks they are to perform and the price in writing before they do the work. read more

I have been taking my cars to Jeremy at Advance Auto Tune for years. He has always been very attentive, quick to get me in when the car needs servicing, and always makes sure my car is in top shape before turning it back to me without doing anything unnecessarily. I am 75, on a fixed income, and Jeremy always give me the current coupon rate plus a military discount. I have never had a breakdown and that is a BIG relief, as I volunteer @125 hours a month to the VFW, the VA Hospital, and the USO. He kept my 1993 Chrysler Imperial running like a champ, until a DUI driver ended its driving days. I have absolutely no qualms recommending Jeremy and his crew, because I know they will do their best on any vehicle that enters their bays. As an example, my tire light was on when I took it in for an oil change and they not only check that out and found the sensor is malfunctioning, but let me know that before the winter months I should get my system flushed and new antifreeze put in to protect my engine. This heads up allows me to budget for the cost which he also quoted to me, and is good until I get the car serviced. Very thoughtful and professional, don't you think? Someone tried to steal the catalytic converter off of my car, cut into the pipes on both ends of it. I went in asking if welding it back together was possible. They said yes, and were honest about the drawbacks that could happen from welding that close to the catalytic converter. I went ahead with the service, they took longer on labor than expected but still only charged me for the 30 minutes that I was quoted on. Would gladly return for any other repairs I need. read more

Had an issue at a shop that couldn't take off the wheels on my Mercedes because they didn't have the right sockets to take it off. Would've been nice to know they don't have the tools required for German cars before hand. Let me preface by saying that finding a good & honest mechanic is as important as finding a good physician. They need to be able to properly diagnose the issue and repair it in a reassonable time frame and at a fair price. Jeremy the shop manager has by far, exceeded my expectations. I was a regular at Advance Auto Tune for oil changes and routine fixes. I stopped going because they kept failing horribly. Over charged me once because the cashier didn't know how to work the credit card machine. Last visit had the brakes fixed. Had to return because the mechanic didn't plug back in some critical wiring. Then the next morning the hub caps flew off on the freeway, because the mechanic didn't seat them right. Just continuous incompetence. NOT recommended. read more

I explained what was wrong with my truck and bring it and they would do an diagnostics and find the problem. I have been taken by Point S on MLK and 4th Ave in Seattle who never fixed the problem. The price that were given to me over the phone is what I was charged and also was told about another problem that would cause my problems later on. They even told me if I would like to see the old parts that would hold they so I could see them for myself. This shop was very honest, yes the price are higher but they make sure your vehicle is running at its best. They even did a check for other issues which bigger shops don't do. They overcharge greatly on repairs! Was told I needed breaks replaced and power steering line replaced. Total cost $1200! Power steering replacement was $435 alone. I allowed them to do front brakes as that was most important. That was $360. I called around about my power steering and was able to get it done for $250. I'm upset I wasted $360 for front brakes. They lost my & my mothers business with their price gouging. They did do a good job on my brakes & that is why I gave an additional star. I recommend you shop around if you don't like having your wallet raped. read more

I've been going to these guys for years now no matter where I've lived in the Seattle area. They're always the best value. They let me know exactly what is wrong with the car, what my options are, and when I need to replace things. For instance, they'll tell me that my XYZ part is wearing down and will probably last for about 6 months, which gives me time to plan for its replacement. They're really good with making sure I know when things like timing belts need to be replaced so that I don't have bigger problems that come from them breaking in use. The only time I had any trouble with them was with a car window and I had to take it back in a couple of extra times. They got it right and did not charge me extra. They also made sure I had a loaner to use. Every one working there is very professional and nice. Recently, Gene spent time with me generating a list of new cars that I should check out based on what I wanted. It was really helpful when car shopping and not something he needed to do. read more

I have had my Jeep Commander serviced here twice. Each time I was treated with the most professionalism and knowledgeable service techs. Jeremy was very helpful. This last time I had to have my vehicle towed to the shop due to over heating issues. They knew what the issue was and worked fast to get my vehicle back to me within 2 days. Unfortunately I had to have it towed right back because it started to over heat again on the freeway. Well as it turns out my helpful husband had purchased a thermostat and installed it. Long story short, he didn't install it correctly which Jeremy discovered. Not only was it a cheapie one, but was installed backwards. So Jeremy replaced it with a better quality one and now my Jeep is running like a charm.
