Trying not to panic because my key wouldn't work to open the door, I realized that the battery in my remote control must be fried so I managed to unlock the car, and drove straight down to this Advance Auto Parts store. They immediately knew which battery I needed, supplied the tools to open up the remote control, and even helped me close it, since at first I mistakenly closed up the remote control backwards, and the buttons wouldn't work. The device was tested by the entrance with one foot in the door, and Walla! The car beeped, and my life was back to normal. Cannot fathom how much a locksmith would have cost to fix this one, and to fix the problem just for a new $5.00 battery, who can complain. The diodes are pretty complicated to understand, and might be worn out, but for now they work. And of course the next day the temperature dropped and we had a big snowstorm.

The shop recommended replacing multiple oxygen sensors and quoted over $1,400 in repairs. (Ended up paying only $300 at a different shop and did not change a single sensor!!!!!) However, I had recently already installed a new downstream O2 sensor, and I was disappointed that their recommendation focused on only replacing parts rather than clearly explaining what testing had been performed to confirm the sensors were actually faulty. The damaged wiring and connector were obvious issues that I asked to be repaired and tested, but I was never provided voltage readings, continuity test results, or any detailed diagnostic information showing why random ADDITIONAL sensors needed to be replaced. (Seems like all they do is read codes and change parts over there) Would not recommend to anyone who is not car savvy....or anyone in general for that matter. ;))

And we opted to get some stuff done as well since my car is almost at 100,000 miles. They said it would take a few days since they had to order parts. It was completed quicker than I had thought. We were able to pay the invoice online and pick up our car after hours. A few days later, we noticed something was leaking in my car. We took the car back. I went to another auto parts store but they refused to install it because of "liability issues." I physically am capable of changing a car battery located in the trunk, but now it's principle especially when you charge $18 until I return the old battery, which is why I called around to see who would install a trunk battery. O'Reilly said it wouldn't be an issue and I can right away. The equivalent of the battery I was going to buy at the first retailer was actually cheaper at O'Reilly and they installed it for me without any issues. I highly recommend O'Reilly for their customer service and prices!

I'll be looking into finding Hector's boss and Colin corporate O'Reilly. I think O'Reilly has a hole has lost my business and I shall tell all my customers about my experience.
