If I could give no stars I would. If someone from ADT comes knocking on your door, sends you an email because you just "moved in" .... RUN!!! Avoid them at all costs. Deceptive. Unscrupulous. I signed a contract for equipment and service. Changed my mind and gave notice within the time period required to cancel. I later found another ADT dealer and was able to purchase my equipment and pay by the month. I've tried since January 2026 to cancel as I have never activated the system. After 5 months of phone calls, run around and transfers, they tell me today that I am bound by the contract I initially signed. What???? I cancelled it. Chose another install and payment option, but they say I am still bound. The Rep advised that I am 22 months into the "contract" of 60 months and I can cancel my services with a $1,000 penalty. AVOID ADT AT ALL COSTS. PS I'm not done with this yet. read more

TERRIBLE! I am dead serious RUN! These guys are total scammers! Don't sign anything! There is no accountability on their side but to front end sell you a bunch of shit sensors, fire alarms, cameras using google nest and other devices you'd think we're necessary for what you want and need, and then find out they don't even support those products in anyway. You better know in advance what ?'s to ask or they will lie and misinform you. Seriously they took me for $6k in worthless crap I already had a camera system better than what they installed. So instead of providing me good sound advice to contact the initial provider , they led me on to sell me a camera system I could of bought myself cheaper from best buy and then it still cost another $50+ for recording capability that they don't even provide. They don't consult you or lookout for your needs on anything. The initial person to come out to your house beware, they are not incentivized to come back after they front end over sell you to complete the total hookup. Yeah im 3 1/2 weeks in and I still am not hooked up entirely and I am ripped! Just don't use ADT period unless you wanna get scammed and lose your money. Shame on you assholes! read more

This review is in regards to the person who installed our system for the home we purchased a month ago. My family moved up to the area from Orlando, and we were looking to transfer their service up to the new home. There was an existing system, but we took advantage of the contract we were in to have someone come out and evaluate our home and see what they could do to modernize our security. Anthony Thornton was our technical advisor and installation was set up by him. We had a LOT of questions, he was patient and knowledgeable. Efficient in the sense that he set up our home in less than 90 minutes, and then took the time to help us set up the system and also look through what we were going to do in order to make sure the house is set up for safe living and still be safe when we are away. I was more than impressed with Anthony, we are very happy with the system he installed. Not sure if he is a member of this particular branch but I can say that Anthony should be recognized for his professionalism and also his thorough nature in helping myself and my parents get up to speed with the new system. I can't stay enough bad things about ADT. They have terrible service response. Their service attitude is unbelievably bad. I have had to sit on hold for nearly an hour to get a response from their service number. The service agent was rude and had an attitude of superiority. 60 plus minute wait times on hold to speak to anyone who can address billing issues. Cell communicator died a month ago, and they want $100 plus $7 per month to fix it, or as an option, pay $65 per hour plus materials to replace it. Impossible to terminate service if they don't answer the phone. Can't perform any account changes online. Chat feature is seldom functioning, and when it is, you get referred to a phone number with absurd on hold wait times with no option provided for a callback where billing or account issues are concerned. Had to change expiration date on auto pay credit card just so the auto payment would not go through. ADT used to be reputable and responsive, but for some reason, they've become a bloated, indifferent bureaucracy concerned with nothing more than keeping their customers involuntarily stuck with them. Run away. Way too many options available these days to have to deal with this. read more

If I could give them zero stars, I would. They took over my account with Ackerman Security, and won't close my account. There's apparently no way to close my account by email (so I'd have a writtem record), and the guy on the phone refuses to do it. They sent me a bill for coverage to begin in two weeks, and told me they'd refer my account to a collection agency if I didn't pay it -- and won't cancel my non-existant account! This is outrageous. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I have never signed up with them, yet they are trying to extort $342 from me by threatening my credit report. Unbelievable. read more

Long-time ADT customer (2009-2023). Discontinued ADT service at the old house after selling the house. Since then, ADT continues to deny waiver of cancellation fee of over $1,000, even as they admit I am contractually entitled to the waiver because the new owner of my old house activated a new ADT account to continue service. I have called ADT six times over the last four weeks. Each time, a different agent repeats the same reason for denial (i.e., incomplete details in their case notes) and promises the problem will be fixed within 3-5 business days. It remains unresolved after more than 30 days. All the ADT agents repeat virtually the same explanation, if not the same words, as if reading from the same script or following company policy of denying waiver of cancellation fee at all cost. read more

ADT refuses to cancel my account. Earlier this year Ackerman Security, the alarm company I was with for 12 years, was acquired by ADT. At that time I closed my account. Since then, ADT has continued to send bills, and even set up a service call to 'upgrade' my alarm. I've told them REPEATEDLY by email, phone, and text that my account was closed but they ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to stop badgering me. Consider yourself warned, if you get involved with them. read more

Billed me $260 to fix their admitted faulty installation. Agreed to reverse the charges but only partially did so. Promised a call from the local branch manager that was never received. Have to hold minimum of one hour to get anyone on the phone; then they have no authority to help. Absolutely horrendous. I've been a customer for almost 15 years, but no longer. Worst security company . Their system only works sometimes. Have had nothibg but trouble with it. We have to test the system everytime we set it to make sure its working. Their customer service is usless. You have to wait on the phone between 30 to 45 minutes to get to talk to a technician. they charge way to much for what you get. Their cameras are also junk. This was told to me by one of their technoicians that came out to fix them. They dont pick up motion half the time and when they do it only lasts for 20 seconds even when you set them to record at its highest which is only 30 seconds. Then it takes 2-3 minutes before they will record again. I would not recommend ADT to my worst enemy. Just a horrible company to deal with. Complete rip off. read more

Absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. Zero customer service and follow up. Installed the wrong equipment and even though they acknowledged it is wrong they won't follow up to replace it. Alarm goes off several times a day with an error including multiple times between 1:00am and 4:00am waking everyone up in the house. Finally had to unplug the entire system and yet I still can't get a call back. Can't get in contact with the Sales rep Kevin McCallum, sales manager Nicky Turner won't follow up, even spoke with account services and they can't do anything but refer it back to the branch manager. I had this system for 2 years. They lock you into a contract that you can't get out of. Anyway, I could never use it during the day because if my dogs bark the alarm goes off. So I just used at night. Usually whenever the alarm goes off because of the dogs, I get a call from ADT to make sure everything is OK. The one time it goes off at 4:00 am I get an automated call. Yep, automated. It tells me that if this is an emergency to call 911. No person is there asking me what my safety word is, no one gives a f*ck. If your system is compromised, they do not alert you. My system was accidentally unplugged for three weeks and did they ever call to say, hey we're not getting any feedback from your system? Nope, because they don't give a f*ck. For $52.99 a month for 24 months, I could've bought a pretty sweet surveillance system and guess what? I did buy a sweet system because I don't give a f*ck about ADT. read more

ADT has horrible customer service we have been reaching out for a week now to get the equipment we signed up for however was not delivered upon the tech arrival not to mention the tech is adding equipment as an extra charge because he said it wasn't on his order which makes absolutely no sense when it was the main reason for even getting the service in the first place. Our equipment doesn't even work I moved my panel to several places in the home including next to the WiFi and still nothing and they want you to pay for all their mistakes just horrible ‍‍‍. I am absolutely so incredibly appreciative and thankful for my Sales Rep Robert Mackenzie! He is by far the best, and I highly recommend him for anyone looking for home security!! As a first-time home buyer, it gets overwhelming researching about all the costs and hassles as a home owner. Then it gets amplified when you factor in all of the unexpected expenditures and risks for your home. This was my dilemma, especially regarding home security. I became so stressed with all of the researching of plans and equipment, and not knowing which one was the right one, or who I could trust. Then when I connected with ADT, I have never received such a phenomenal, caring, and knowledgeable experience before. If I could give zero stars I would. This branch has been an absolute nightmare to work with. Started on January 29th with our install. Tech showed up at 8:45 am and we had to tell him he'd have to come back the next day because he wasn't done at almost 3:30 pm. With the alarm going off multiple times because he didn't know what he was doing. He also installed the wrong equipment. We were told we were getting touchscreens that would enable us to use an app. We contacted our sales guy, left a voice mail. Next day, tech comes back "fixes" the wrong equipment and leaves. We spend the next 3 days with the alarm randomly going off throughout the days. We keep calling the sales rep. Nothing. Finally we reach out to corporate and they contact the branch and he decided to get back with us on Tuesday saying he had been sick and he'd get to the bottom of this. This was over a week ago and he has never messaged, called, came over even with multiple attempts to talk to him. The alarm started going off in the middle of the night, multiple times, waking us all up. We finally had to contact tech support to walk us through disabling the alarm. That was Monday, today is Wednesday. We have been overpaying for an alarm that hasn't work for TWO WEEKS and cannot get help. They keep referring us back to the branch they won't call us back and is now LYING saying they they have attempted to. We want to cancel. We are done. They won't let us. They say they have the right to repair. But we can't get ahold of the people who are supposed to do it. The same people who are LYING and said they did. We are being told the equipment is what was agreed upon. NO IT WAS NOT. The sales rep sat in our living room and LIED. We told the tech is was wrong, which we didn't know until he had installed it. We have done everything right and these people are horrible. We have been so stressed, losing sleep, upset, and just want to not do business with this shady, unprofessional company. I had an ADT alarm installed on 5/11/16 and sold their service called PULSE that would allow me to control my system remotely. The app would never load properly so I contacted ADT. They sent a rep out on 5/23/16 to redo paperwork. He gave me a receipt for my refund of $159.79. As of 6/29/16 I still do not have my refund. I have placed 22 phone calls to ADT & their sub contractor Defenders, Inc. (doing business as Protect Your Home). All I get is a run around. I filed a complaint with the North Carolina Justice Dept on June 14, 2016. On 6/27/16 I received a follow up letter from them indicating that Defender chose not to respond to them in the 15 business day window they requested in their original correspondence. What kind of company chooses to ignore the Justice Dept? Additionally they have billed me for my first month of service at $52.99 and not at the lower rate of $48.99 that it was supposed to be since I canceled PULSE. I called ADT and they said, "When Defender notifies us you canceled PULSE we will lower your rate and apply a credit to your billing but until they notify us we will continue to bill you $52.99 a month." I am now going to file my complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

I signed up with ADT last year on the basis of the $29+ deal they advertise, but with just a smoke alarm downstairs, the price went to $52+. They promised that after a year, I could get the price reduced to the $29+. It was an emotional time, we had just had a break-in in the neighborhood and so I did it . The installer promised it and I even called the company and was told I could do it if I reduced service which just amounted to discontinuing their app to turn off and on the service when I was not at home. Of course, now they will not reduce the monthly charge even IF I reduce service. Bottom line- don't buy as Seth H said they don't keep promises. read more
