Since we have had adt, we've had to contact them several times for mistakes on our bills. Lately their app went down and I had been making payments on there. Apparently 3 months worth a payments didn't make it to them when the app said it did. So now we were past due 3 months. spoke with an agent who had us pay some and then set up a payment plan to add a few dollars to each bill until the past due was paid off. the agent didn't do that so now we got another past due statement and said we'd be cancelled if we didn't pay full amount. Tried to speak to another agent and get them to fix it and that I have the past transcript and can provide them that for proof of the plan that was supposed to happen. Got told I didn't understand my own bill and that "you should understand a bill you get every month" super unprofessional and asked to speak to supervisor and asked for employee id and the agent refused both. Don't get ADT. I'll be going into their office and cancelling and getting everything waived because this is absolutely insane. read more

I went to ADT because they were contracted with my new build house and the representative said they are the only available security service for my neighborhood, I agreed as the equipment was already pre installed in my house and I only saw ADT signs in the neighborhood so I believed about being the only one. I was previously with vivint at my old home, loved it 5 star review for them. Upon living with ADT service, a few remarks. The app is completely non-user friendly and the interface was the same. Prices were much higher than I was used to paying for security as well. I recently made the switch to vivint after a year of ADT and got a card to buy out the remainder of my ADT contract. AWFUL EXPERIENCE. An hour long phone call with 50 of those minutes being on hold between 8 different representatives tossing me around because I'm sure they didn't want the "failed cancellation negotiation" on their record. Ridiculous and unprofessional behavior including crying and begging from one of the agents. I kid you not, actual crying and begging for me to stay. Along with 5 minutes intervals of silence whilst she found more offers to throw my way. Once she finally cancelled my contract I was thrown to a completely new agent who had no context of my situation, luckily he was the only to actually give me information and tell me that my contract was cancelled but it will take 3 to 5 days for the bill to be posted for me to buy the contract out. We had a fire in our house and guess what, the ADT fire alarms did not go off. I wish I could give no stars. Customer service is horrible, all they did when I called to see how they could remedy this was transfer me to person to person. We were given no reimbursement as of today April 4, 2024 nor have we heard back - the fire was back on March 12th. it's a good thing I'm pregnant and woke up to use the bathroom because my whole family could've perished. Beware: ADT is a Scam - Deceptive Sales, Nonexistent Customer Service, and Unlawful Billing! If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with ADT has been nothing short of fraudulent, deceptive, and a complete nightmare. ADT misrepresented their system capabilities when they sold me a security package over the phone. I was explicitly promised that my cameras would record continuously. The installer confirmed this--yet failed to set up the system properly. He rushed the job, told me to reinstall a camera myself after leaving, and I quickly discovered that it could not be hardwired as promised. When I tried to contact the installer to fix the issue or cancel the contract, I was met with silence. After multiple failed attempts, he finally responded and promised a service call--but never showed up. By the time I realized the deception, my three-day cancellation window had expired. Then, without my consent, ADT cancelled my account and charged my credit card $3,800. Since then, I have made over 50 attempts to resolve this issue, calling ADT's so-called customer service. I've been transferred from department to department, hung up on, and given the runaround. It is painfully clear that ADT deliberately makes it impossible to cancel, dispute charges, or even speak with someone who can actually help. I have had ADT for 6+ years and it has been the worst! I opted in for all their 'bundle' deals to get better pricing but seems like they just do this to get you STUCK with their products. Im paying a high monthly payment to include our HikVision security cameras and they never work! Each rep I talk to see this has been an ongoing issue and still charge me every time they have to send a tech out although the issue never gets resolved. Steven C the social media specialist continues to deny refund and is making threats after ADT continued to take payments after installing non working equipment and charging for non working services. This was a publicity stunt to "how he tried to fix it." By a social media influencer. Instead of looking into my account he verified in email that "someone else made this decision." Good thing i saved all my recorded calls as arizona is a one party concent state and I have the threats Steven made through emails. He is using the we need technicians out to your place 3 times to verify the equipment isn't working after 4 of their technicians did not come to my house for scheduled appointments to resolve the issues. I am not responsible for your employees no showing for their jobs and failing to do their duties. ADT violated my signed contract. Three visits is not in the legally binding contract we signed. Updating here because my review is getting to long from all updates. I have final reply from ADT, no refund will be issued, for the equipement left behind at old address. One dept says that is my equipment, that I was able to take it with me to the new address, but other ADT says they cannot pull calls from the sales reps on the field who did not listen to my request to take my screen touch pad, I loose the case and my money. Final advise, avoid them at all cause. Give your business to a small company that have more decency than this big companies. My previous security company terminated my contract, when I moved to another city- with no charges, this ones suck all your money to the last cent. read more

I have ADT for a few years, I was told about a year or so ago that I needed to get new equipment due to them phasing out ADT Blue, I got bad information and decided to order the new equipment. I called before I did and the person said it was easy and I could just order it online. Well I also asked about a tech coming because my stuff was messed up because im not a tech. That never happened so when my family and I moved I decided since the new place already has Security added to the rent I would just say forget it. I called and somehow I'm locked into a contract that I never signed and then when I ask for it I get told they are still working on it. For context, I was told it was on a specific date with an email through docusign. I work in the legal field and unfortunately I have to have documents for that stuff and have all of this stuff pretty easily accessible. I did my research and have nothing on my end. When I asked them for it, first I was told it would be a few minutes to an hour. Waited a full day and then called back then it turned into 7-10 days. Not sure what the delay from the "Back office" is but this is odd. If you wanna avoid a headache probably avoid ADT. The cost seemed nice but after so many years of being with them I feel like im just getting a middle finger. read more

I have been a customer of ADT for almost 30 years. Up till now I have had no problems with them till now. I had an appointment window scheduled for 8:00 to 12:00 today. Yesterday I received a call from ADT. When I answered there was no response on the other end. The call ended and I assumed it was a confirmation of the appointment. I never received a subsequent call till 11:00 this morning after waiting for 3 hours. Again, I mistakenly assumed this was the technician letting me know that they were on the way. Instead it was a customer service agent calling to reschedule the appointment. When I seemed confused, the agent stated that they called yesterday. I explained that there was no response on the call, they apologized. I ended up having to reschedule for next week. An apology is fine, but clearly before canceling an appointment someone should leave a message or wait for confirmation. Keeping someone waiting for over 3 hours and having to reschedule without proper notice is completely unacceptable. read more

We have the alarm as well as 3 cameras. All off a sudden, when I needed it most, our cameras no longer provided history. After 2 years of free, reliable camera history, they inaplicably required an upgrade to see camera history. Then, when I agreed to play along (because someone had broken into our backyard and we desperately needed that history), the upgrade wouldn't even work. It kept asking me to confirm the upgrade over and over button would never actually go through with the upgrade. It just kept taking me back to the "free 30 day trial offer." Service with ADT has never been stellar, but now I am done. Of course, as usual, their service advisors were all backed up, and I'm currently waiting for a call back just to cancel my account. They get a negative 10 on customer service and reliability. If you're looking for security, keep going. This company sucks. read more

They said that equipment is covered for life but failed to mention that service calls are 59.99 for the tech after 90 days. 2 of our sensors went out at day 92. I had never had a security system so when we purchased a new home decided on putting one in ADT is suppose to be the best (I thought), and until about a week ago if asked that's what i would have told someone. about four years ago an ADT salesman came by the house we purchased the full home security system, five cameras, window sensors everywhere , fire, carbon sensors the whole deal, Salesman told us everything is warranted for life as long as you keep the monitoring. last week I was having problems with a carbon sensor and one outdoor camera, called ADT, was told in Tx they had to physically install a new sensor, Long story short the Tech came out, the camera had just come disconnected from power and the sensor was okay, the Warranty is non-existent, (only for the documented life of the item), should you decide to ever move "was told ADT would either move my equipment or install new" that also was not correct, and last but not least, the fee for the tech being at my home for roughly thirty minutes $173.00. In the opinion of this customer ADT's warranty sounds to good to be true it's because in my case at least it isn't. read more

I am giving one star because minus 5 stars is not available. I have been a customer of ADT for just under two years and was referred by my insurance company who offered to pay the cost with a promotional program they had with ADT. I'll begin with the represenative that came out to go over the system I required that would be sent to the installation technicians. the Rep had a lil I-Pad thingy that he was making notes on. The system in the promotion that was "paid for" Included a key pad, door sensors, doorbell camera, water sensors and motion sensor. I explained that I had cats and did not want the motion sensors. The rep offered a glass break device instead. I asked about outdoor cameras because there had been some car break ins. I got two cameras and was given the cost including installation around $600. When the Rep was finished doing his thing he showed me a screen on the I pad with a break down of my cost. The breakdown showed the amount my insurance company was paying which was over $1100.00. Next was my cost of around $600.00 for the cameras and an $11.00 a month payment that would be applied towards that cost for the cameras. This was to be in addition to the $29.99 a month monitoring fee. There was also a small amount for tax and a small amount of upfront payment for the first month that I put on my charge card. I was told initially there was no up front cost or out of pocket but supposedly the first payment was not included and paid up front. Make sense? The rep asked me to sign the I-Pad acknowledging that he reviewed the above amounts and to have the $29.99 monitoring fee automatically placed on my credit card to avoid late fees. I just discovered almost two years later after having another long 1 hr. Conversation with the billing department after multiple conversations with multiple broken english speaking lack of customer service representatives that there was another 11 pages to their so called contract that they say I signed! For the past year and 10 months I had nothing but problems with the so called security system. The glass breakage device did not work since day one. the device was over sensitive and went off for every little noise. Next was the door chime that fell off the door in the middle of the night, thereby setting off the alarm and making a bang as it hit the floor. I realized what happened only after the wife was scared shitless and I was looking around with my gun for an intruder. Oddly ADT never called about the alarm to see if I had been murdered or not. Next was the water sensor that was hit by a mop and set the alarms off. This happened twice. Again, no call from ADT. When I called about this they sent me a new sensor and sticker tape for the chime For ME TO FIX IT! This was followed with problems with the keypad. After multiple calls and god knows how long on the phone with someone from India that I could hardly understand, I was told I would need to pay $100 for someone to come out and fix the problems. I was also having problems with the cameras, whereas I couldn't make out anything when it was not daylight. I explained that most robberies happen at night. Finally after more back and forth ADT agreed to send out a tech. The first time, the tech never showed or called at the appointed time. As it turned out (you're gonna love this) ADT had the wrong phone number for me and so did the tech! You got that? Almost two years of me paying them and they had entered the wrong number for me! Well at least it explained why they did not call to check on the alarms that went off. When the tech finally arrived at the next appointment (late) he told me he tried to call but as it turns out ADT never corrected the phone number again! Anyway, the tech explained that whoever installed the glass breakage device placed it on top of the kitchen cabinets where it should not be. Also one of the cameras was hooked into my garage door circuit causing it to pop and my door not working. It still broke. The reason the cameras were not working at night was because they cant and I would need to upgrade them. Mind you I been paying $47.99 a month for two years (not the $29.99 I was told) because ADT decided to give themselves a raise. Long story short (yeah this is the short story LOL) the farkerz wanted me to pay another $1400.00 dollars to upgrade to spot light camera that are $400.00 everywhere else. After refusing to do that and demanding that I get something for the over $2000.00 they received between me and my insurance company, i was pretty much told to pound sand. I then told them that I was going to cancel the no service I was receiving and that they were no longer to charge my credit card. This is when I was told I had a 5 year contract and I would need to pay a 75% penalty on all the remaining months I was contracted to. This would be another $1500.00. Horrific service is consistent when you have a system issue. Call Center agents are trained to go down a checklist. When the Call Center agent cannot solve the issue, you get transfered to Technical Support. They have you go through the same exact keypad steps as the original agent, to no avail. Then they want to set an appointment for a video with a technical person versus being prepared to do so at that time. I called early morning to request an appointment to have someone come to the house but instead they tell me to call back when home. I take time off to do so, only to get the runaround described above. So, I have lost nearly the entire day without resolution to an issue that results in the system chirping at random times, including the middle of the night. ADT Call Center, Technical Support and management should all experience this situation to appreciate why their customer support needs to be improved if they cannot get their system to consistently work as designed. read more

I have been a customer for 13 years. Before I got my camera installed, I knew I was only paying for an actual break in, but when my camera was installed, it was so I can have that extra layer of security, knowing that ADT would be there if anything would happen to the exterior of my home too. That is not the case. I have called ADT to report issues with my camera over the course of the last 2 years, reporting issues with my camera not picking up movements as large as cars being removed from my driveway. The only support they offered me was to adjust my camera's sensitivities of which are already as sensitive as they can get (I get notifications of leaves rustling in the trees but not for cars leaving my driveway). My home was vandalized recently, and since then I decided enough was enough and reached out to cancel my contract as ADT has failed me over and over again. What am I even paying them for? I asked myself and even asked them during the calls following the vandalism, when yet again, no help was provided; they only reiterated that they can only help if there's an actual break in but have no access to my camera footage, so again, why am I paying them a monthly subscription for the camera when they are "unable" to do anything when something actually goes awry? I just got off the phone with ADT and they have refused to cancel my contract after their failures, stating that I will be held liable for the remaining balance of the contract if it were canceled. Even though they are the ones that failed, I am being held hostage for payments to a service that doesn't exist?! Do not contract with ADT. I own a small portfolio of rental properties and thought it would be nice to include alarm services with them. I also used them for my primary residence. So all in, I had 6 ADT contracts at once. I will say the installation part was pretty good, but the customer service and follow up is atrocious. Extremely long hold times of more than an hour to speak with someone, rude service reps (but they are likely hearing from unhappy customers constantly, so I get their unhappiness with their jobs), and constant rate increases. Do not use ADT - trust me on this. They will lock you into a contract and charge high fees to cancel even though they do not perform their end of the contract. This is a bad company. When folks ask if I recommend, I say heck no. Use a local security service - they will at least appreciate your business. And ADT, please do not respond to this with your canned 'apologize for your frustration, please call us at .....' message that you have used for the past hundred 1 star reviews. I have been a ADT subscriber for 12 years. I decided to cancel because my equipment is outdated and not used anymore. They never made any effort to upgrade me over the years and the last straw was having to be sent a new sensor which didn't work. When I called to cancel, they offered to reduce my bill if I didn't so I accepted. After 6 months, I realized I really don't use it much so called again to cancel for good. I had to wait about 30 minutes to reach an agent. Before that, I selected the option of them calling me when it was my turn in line, but I never received a call after an hour. The agent told me that if I cancelled, I would have to pay a cancelation fee because of early termination. I said I never signed any contract, but they claimed it was a verbal agreement which is BS. I didn't cancel the first time only because they agreed to reduce the monthly fee. I would never have agreed to a contract. Worse products and customer service in the industry!!!! She failed to complete my request and continued to bill me for Jan, Feb of this year. When I called to confirm my cancellation they're now expecting me to pay over $200 to close my account. ADT is literally a scam. Our system has been unable too connect too our internet for months and every time we call they only provide a temporary fix until it goes out again and becomes useless. Their customer service has not improved one inch. My latest complaint is that ADT charges me late fees and I have signed up for automatic withdrawal. How does ADT run their accounting department? It's only $1.00, but it's the principle. I don't understand this. Does ADT think customers are so stupid that we are not going to notice? I have called several times with no satisfaction. I will be calling them every day until I see the $1 refunded back to my account. I would like to know how many customers have been charged late fees when they have set up automatic withdrawal. The system was not fully operational since some sensors fell off the windows. All we wanted was a tech to come and fix the system. Also, the control panel was dark. The customer service representative convinced my wife to the repair herself. Big mistake!! The system started an unbelievable high pitch noise. We couldn't stop it. The rep kept giving us instructions. That would stop the noise for a few minutes then it would start again. We hate disconnect the panel from the wall. Unplug the power and put the system on test. Terrible customer service and now another big mistake on their part. We have been with ADT 7 years but that will change now. They sent out "free" cell bridges that are incompatible with current equipment in early December 2021. 3 different technicians have come out to determine exact same thing. New system is needed that is compatible with the "free" cell bridge. It's been six weeks of absolutely no results.
