The food was absolutely delicious! We had a fantastic variety of dishes--from flavorful fajitas to savory meatballs--and everything was a hit with our guests. I recently did a wedding tasting with Adriana and her staff. Everything was delicious. We tried the lemon chicken piccata and Jalisco style churrasco. The chicken piccata was tender and juicy. The sauce was the perfect balance of richness and bright flavors without feeling heavy. She gave us options for how we wanted our steak cooked, the sauce was herbaceous and fresh. I could not get enough of the chimmichurri, she was nice enough to send me home with a to go container. The elote is one of my favorite dishes, it is a modern take on traditional comfort food. Her staff was professional and recommended both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks to pair with our choices. We discussed the locations in Mexico where she gets her inspiration, and it is very clear she has a passion not only for cooking but for tradition, there is a lot of love in her food. These dishes taste like you could have them in someone's grandmother's kitchen but elevated by her techniques and attention to detail. Her food makes you feel full and satisfied but not heavy. The produce she used is incredibly fresh. She was also very mindful of my food allergies and I'm confident in her understanding of food safety based on the questions she asked about the type of reactions I can experience. We did place a reservation beforehand, so I would recommend placing a reservation because the restaurant did start filling up fast. We enjoyed some homemade chips and salsa before placing our cocktails and food orders. Both cocktails, the cucumber lime spritz, and a blueberry pomegranate had great flavor and the alcohol wasn't too strong. For the main course, we ordered the Jalisco Chimichurri- the steak was juicy and tender. I was surprised by the mole enchiladas because it came with two hearty sides- rice and beans. Had booked a wedding with this caterer. Our experience was distasteful. We had (98 guests) at our wedding; we paid for (117 people) and yet there was still not enough food for our guests. It was disappointing to see many of our guests unable to eat on such an important day. When we reached out to address the issue and ask for an accommodation for meals. A response was mentioned that they wish they never took us as a client. It was hurtful and unexpected. Don't book this place. Especially if there is adversity that may arise on your wedding day. This Mexican restaurant was opened a few months ago and it's worth visiting. We arrived here on Friday evening for dinner with friends. Make sure you make a reservation before hand as the restaurant is not too big and as a walk in you may not get a table. Even-though the restaurant is not be too big, it's very well decorated and makes you feel welcome and cozy. The menu offers foods to share which we liked. The selection is good both for appetisers and mains. Our foods were nicely prepared and presented. Plating was elevated and made the dishes look very appetising. Food was made with fresh ingredients and was well balanced when it comes to seasonings and flavours. Combination of all the ingredients paired well and made each bite enjoyable. I really liked the street corn dish as the flavours danced nicely on the palate. The Yucatán braised pork had small parts that were a tad dry, however, most parts were tender and moist and the flavours were spot on. We used Adriana's Cocina to cater my son's birthday party at the Craft House and so glad we did! The food was tasty without being oily or overly salty, which is so impressive considering it was large party catering! We got a lot of compliments on the food that day, even from my mother in law who usually complains restaurant food is too oily and salty haha. From start to finish, Adriana had great communication and offered many recommendations along the way when I wasn't sure. We went with the option where only the food was dropped off and Adriana's team arrived early and the food was ready right on time. We got excited to try and support a new local restaurant and so we went as a family only to find the doors were locked. Nobody eating inside, but saw at least two workers who just looked at us trying to open the door. We figured maybe a private event rented it out, so I called to ask. I was told they were indeed open, but the door gave them a hard time. It was locked! I asked her why she just sat and watched a family of four tries to open the door and she said "You walked away". Ummmm, yes, I don't act like a crazy person and continue to pull on a locked door. She then asked if I had a reservation. There wasn't a single person eating there. Not one! Calabacitas is an unexpected delight. Lastly, to finish we had the cheesecake which may be the best we've ever had. And the prices were very reasonable considering the quality AND quantity of food.
