I have a lighter complexion which reddish hair makes more red. Over the past 2 years (at other salons,) I have been asking for dark, deep, base and darker purple highlights. My hair has either washed out 2-3 weeks in, or has turned reddish instead of purple. I have also never gotten the dramatic angled cut I love. I have tried showing pictures of what I'd like, and have been specific of the angle and/or length. I ask for recommendations as to what is closest between what I want and what can be done to my hair. After recently moving and having a baby, I decided it was time to try out another salon. My husband (on a whim) found this salon and gifted me services for when I had our baby. My hair appointment with Brooke was great. She listened, gave her recommendation to try and I just LOVE my color and cut!! My oldest was along for the appointment and she really made her feel special as well, despite not having an opening for her. Thank you Brooke!

I asked Rebecca to make sure my hair was all the same length, no layers. I wanted a blunt straight cut, to take the dead ends off, but preserve as much of the length as possible for my upcoming wedding. I thought there's no way any hair stylist can screw this up. Boy was I very wrong. Rebecca combed my hair to the front, eyeballed, and cut. It was strange, so I stopped and asked her how she was going to cut my hair. She told me "I'm not here to give you a lesson on cutting hair, but I'm doing just what you asked." I didn't feel comfortable after what she said, but thought I would give her the benefit of the doubt. Bad idea. The whole time Rebecca cut my hair, she didn't even touch it once with her hands. Just kept combing to the front, eyeballing and cutting with the scissors. I've had enough haircuts to know you should section before cutting, and check and measure with your fingers. After Rebecca cut my hair, I pointed out to to her that the hair in front were at least 1.5 inches longer than the hair in the back (as expected since she combed the hair to the front before cutting), and that it wasn't very even. But she kept saying, "well, that's what you asked for, I gave you want you wanted." After arguing for a few minutes, I gave up and left. I will never come here again.

TK was so friendly and genuine, and really listened to what I was asking for. I admit I did a horrendous job explaining what I wanted but he looked at the pictures I had of what I liked and seemed to know exactly what I wanted and he gave me a beautiful new haircut that I am absolutely in love with!! I also very much appreciated that I was able to make an appointment online, for the very same day. Usually I have to wait several days, if not a week, to schedule an appointment with my usual hairdresser. I'm feeling very conflicted now because I've been going to the same hairdresser for several years, but I enjoyed my first experience at Duncan Edward with TK so much that it's going to be hard not to go back!

I scheduled a full head of highlights and half way through Aaron told me he was only doing a partial. I trusted his "expert" advice and went with it. When he finished the partial he showed me the front and it did not look too bad. However he did not take the time to show me the back. When I got home I checked the back in the mirror and it looks terrible LOL! No wonder he didn't show me the back!!! The front of my head is highlighted and the back is brown!!! I'm now an official freak! I'm going back to have it "fixed" and I will update the review afterwards. Fingers crossed :P I do not recommend it to anyone, unless you want to be a freak like me. Cheers! So I went back at 10:45am which was agreed upon verbally with Aaron. However, when I went back they told me that it was 12:45pm. I was fine with it, but when I asked to be given a card to have proof of the the time the front desk attendant told me she couldn't. So I insisted since I did not want to have to deal with the time being "wrong" again and eventually she prints the appointment details out. So I leave and come back at the updated time and Aaron and I start to argue about my hair. Basically he would not apologize and admit that he jacked up my hair. So he says it's best if I leave and get a refund. Which is fine by me. But then right before I leave he says that I was rude to the front desk attendant and calls me disgusting. Wow! I did't say anything rude to the front desk attendant I just insisted on receiving a card for the appointment so I would NOT have to keep coming back at the "wrong" time. No idea what he was talking about. But he is disgusting and this business is abusive. I would't recommend Duncan Edward European Hair Design to my greatest enemy.

I went in wanting a vivid partial, but she convinced me to do some really soft highlights that were super natural just to add a touch of dimension because of life circumstances. During my consultation, she said that was totally doable and suggested some partial baby lights. I let her know that sometimes my communication is a little poor and needed a bit of over explanation; she again said it was totally fine, and she could handle it. This was my first time getting highlights, so I am unfamiliar with the process. Not once did she check in with me about the tone or the shade of the highlights during the appointment.  After getting my hair styled, I had a bright (almost) platinum money piece. I was a bit surprised, but asked if she could just tone it down a bit. She immediately said she wasn't going to be in that weekend; I had no issues with waiting a week. I bought the amazing shampoo she recommended, thanked her, and went on my way. Went in the next week and had the roots blended and the tone brought closer to what I wanted. She dried the front, but it looked the same to me since the lighting in there is front lit and harsh white. It didn't help that the hair behind it was wet, so it was darker, which made the dry pieces look lighter. She told me to be brutally honest at the initial appointment, so I very kindly said I wasn't sure since it looked the same. We agreed that it was the lighting and that I would go home to check. This was after she monologued for 5 minutes about how she's a Malibu Barbie blonde specialist and not someone who does subtle blonde, that maybe I wasn't a highlight person and I should seek someone else (even though I had already complimented her multiple times on the highlights outside my bangs, I just didn't want the money piece). I Ieft after saying thank you and felt awful for voicing my concerns. Once I got home, it looked absolutely fantastic in better lighting. I shot her a text thanking her and apologized for not being able to tell in the salon. If it had been left at that, it would have been fine. I wasn't going back anyway, but I didn't feel compelled to write a review since, in the end, my hair was fine and I was treated fine. In the morning (yesterday), she responded, saying that we wouldn't be a good fit because she is an anxious person (basically telling me not to come back despite me being very patient, kind, and understanding). This was very unprofessional considering she told me to be honest and I was nothing but kind through the whole process. I am very disappointed that she did not turn me away during the consultation or even before the appointment when I made my needs as clear as possible, and she realized she wasn't a fit. I wish she had advertised that she was a "Malibu Barbie Specialist" at that point, or at least recommended me to someone else in the salon. Now I feel very unwelcome because of how she treated me during the adjustment, and the comment made in the DM's. Needless to say, I will not be returning, even to buy a refill of shampoo. :( TLDR:  Went in for a subtle natural highlight. I was told it could be done (with great enthusiasm) and I could be accommodated, just to later go in for an adjustment to be told I should've expected it since she was obviously a "Malibu Barbie Blonde Specialist." *Side note: I don't need a response from anyone; I just wanted to share my experience.*

I will be back in about 6 weeks for a toner. I got my haircut and styled for about $200.00, the price is right here! Style 5/5 I want to start off by saying that Savanna did my hair and it turned out great, she's very good at listening to what you ask for and matching that. I was satisfied with my style. Make-up 1/5 Savanna is a nice person, however...I do not recommend her to do anyones make-up. To sum it up it nice, she doesn't know how to apply it. I specifically showed her a photo of what I wanted and she wasn't able to deliver. I didn't want anything too crazy, just light eyeshadow and winged eyeliner. She gave me a dark eyeshadow, she had to ask someone to help her apply my eye liner, did not match my eyebrow color correctly (not all ethic people have black eyebrows), and gave me dark colored lips when I asked her for a neutral color. Very dissatisfied with how my make up turned out, sadly I didn't have enough time to fix it before my photo shoot. I will not be going to savanna for make up ever again.
