We were in the area for Saturday night fireworks and decided to grab dinner here. We sat outside in the patio area and it was nice because there were heaters all around us. The server was very friendly and answered any questions we had about the menu. We ordered the mussels, ravioli, and prawns. We all shared our food, so it was nice to try a little bit of everything. The mussels were fresh, and I loved the sauce they came in. The prawns were bigger than expected. The ravioli was fresh, and I loved the toppings on top of them. The food and drinks menu are both very good, and you can be a people watcher as people stroll by. I think k I've been here 4 times now. The big breakfast is amazing. It's almost been 2 years since my last visit and I was pretty excited to come back. But what a let down, the menu has changed and the quality has suffered. Got the mixed meat plate and I was surprised from the lack of meat on my plate. The mix dip plate was below average and the haloumi salad was awful. I was still hungry so I ordered the mushroom risotto but after two spoons I asked for the bill. The food lacks flavour and taste. Staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable. Adria Rybar and Grill is primarily a seafood restaurant. It's a beautiful little place, with an impressive cocktail menu, all going for a reasonable $14 (I'd recommend the Dragonfly). The meals themselves are fairly reasonable, with steaks and ribs costing anywhere from $28 to $40, even though the selection is relatively slim. Also on offer, pastas and risotto's, averaging out to let's say $28 a dish. The dessert menu is also not too extensive, with most desserts going for $12. The crepes are quite lovely, if you're into crepes. I love the atmosphere of this place, and I particularly like the fact that you can watch the chefs as they toil. Located in the touristy Cockle Bay Wharf area, the main attraction is the view. Overlooking Darling Harbour, the views are lovely. Reading previous reviews, I was hesitant about what the night held for us however there was nothing to worry about. The service was pretty good. Attentive and friendly, they made sure we were looked after. There is a surcharge of $5 pp for Sundays and public holidays so that is a bit steep however it is printed on both the menus and website so you are warned. We started off with a couple of entrees to share. They were Warm Haloumi Salad and Spanakopita Triangles. The salad was nice and the sweet figs offset the savouriness of the haloumi and acid of the tomatoes. The spanakopita were slightly too salty due to the feta as needed more spinach to balance it out. The mains were Rotisserie Tasting Plate which had both beef and lamb, Mushroom Risotto, Giant Beef Ribs which were a full rack, and Lamb Gyros. We were not expecting the portion sizes to be huge. There was more than enough (actually too much food ordered) and it was pretty tasty and of good quality. As we had set our expectations lower it, we were pleasantly surprised. When we finally got a table it had a great view of the harbour and fireworks althought our food arrived warm and only 3 meals arrived out of 4 . My pork ribs arrived with a small tiny bowl of mash after 90mins was very average ,our friends fish and Samon was small and tasteless. The waitress kept disappearing ,and no water was served we had to ask for drinks several times. As for coffee and dessert well the service wasn't there so we got the bill and went to Lindt for coffee/mochas and dessert . Very pricey and food not quality but great tourist location. I'm quite skeptical about Darling Harbour dining. With such epic views and such an accessible location it's only ever going to be a tourist trap. Adria is all about the tourism. The prices are ridiculous and the menu uninspiring. It seemed more like a game of naming parts of a cow than a descriptive guide to the dishes. The waitress even gruffly asked which sauce I'd be having with my steak, I'd rather she tell me! It all felt a bit too Americanised. When my steak came the sauce had been put in a bowl on the plate, as you would a bowl of ketchup with a greasy fry-up. Nevertheless it did taste good, very tender and complimented with some well seasoned potatoes and vegetables, but at such a price I wanted a bit of glamour to my dish! My companions said their calamari was spicy and fresh(I can't stand the stuff so can only be the messenger!), but not anything particularly special. read more

The calamari was good and wasn't too salty. My girlfriend had the lamb gyro and she was it was really good. The pork ribs was huge! But it wasn't as good as I was expecting. It was sort of tough. The first place I go to in Sydney where there's actually service, the waiter was very friendly another first she made small talk with me she is definitely getting a tip and a good one at that. Nice bar and grill at the harbor, overpriced but it's geared towards tourists and you are paying for the location, it had live music that ended as I was being seated, but then the DJ came on so not bad. I ordered the scallop as my entree and the famous barramundi fish as my mains and of course a berry iced tea. The food was good but service was greater. Thumbs up!!! A must visit in Sydney. P.S the DJ is hella good and the place turns into a swanky dance lounge for anyone who wants to dance all that food off and I took mighty advantage of it. My boyfriend and I visited Adria on a Sunday afternoon. We checked out a few places on the harbour edge, knowing full well that they would be a bit more expensive for the location. It turns out that a Sunday is about the worst time to visit this restaurant - they charge a $5 cover charge, per person, on Sundays that they only tell you about on the bill. This is on top of a $10 service charge as well. Needless to say we weren't impressed. The atmosphere though was nice. The sun was setting and their heat lamps were on, so it wasn't too chilly. We each ordered the roast for $26 and found that the serving of meat was generous (three to four thick slices each). It also came with a few potatoes and a Mediterranean salsa. We didn't order the sauces for $5 but found the meat flavourful. The roast was served medium, which suited us perfectly. The servings weren't large - not a good place to come to if you are starving. Service we found was poor. The waitress was abrupt and indifferent. She didn't bring us the waters we had asked for with our drinks and didn't check on us throughout our meal, despite the restaurant being quite empty. When we went to pay, the staff were batching out their credit machine and it took nearly ten minutes to complete. They either had no other machine in the restaurant or just didn't care about making us wait. If you were to go for lunch or for their Saturday dinner specials, it would probably be an ok place. The food was good and it is nice to eat on the harbour. Just be prepared to pay a bit more for the experience. read more

Given the somewhat mixed reviews seen below, we were astounded by just how excellent our recent event at Adria was. All of the staff went above and beyond to make sure our event went off without a hitch. To start our event off, we had a large number of Aperol spritzes -- we were pleased that the drinks were not made too far in advance, and the quality of the spritzes was superb, evoking the true spirit of Venice in each glass. Samir did a great job helping to set up and initially manage our event, then Bhuwan carried it through to completion. Terence and Livia were experts behind the bar, and Carl and the other servers were attentive throughout. The canapes hit the right spot -- some excellent oysters and beef burger sliders among them. No complaints about the service. Perhaps the bad experiences described in other reviews occurred prior to the current management team taking the reins. We decided to dine at Adria as it looks cosy with all the heating provided. Plus there's happy hour with standard beer, wine and cocktail. There's also early dining specials. service was a let down. One of the waiter was rude, said to me if I'm not ordering then why am I sitting there, before checking if I've ordered or not. (Menu was not taken away as we might order more later). Made me feel like they are not there to provide good service but to only ensure people order, eat and get out as soon as possible. On a plus side, we got another waitress to serve us and she's much more pleasant. Overall, food was ok (7/10) but service was 3/10.
