The vast majority of motorcycle shops I've encountered, even those selling $40K+ products, don't have a clue about customer service, or just don't even want to bother. This sad reality makes me appreciate it even more when I am fortunate enough to encounter a rare treasure such as Durand's Kawasaki Motorsports. Make no mistake about it: any organization, regardless of what product or service they offer, is only as good as the people who come to work there every day. Durand's is a perfect example of this, from the owner, Tim Durand, to the Parts & Service Manager, Sean, to the superb Techs that I've worked with, Vinny & Steve. All of these people truly GET it, and the main reason for that is that they CARE. If you're looking for frills or theatrics, this is not your destination...but if what you're drawn to is substance (honesty, fairness, product knowledge, enthusiasm, top-level mechanical skills and an environment that makes you feel like you're among friends), don't look any further, because Durand's Motorsports is your place. Also, you don't need to have a Kawasaki to benefit from Durand's,, I don't! I own a vintage, 1980's Honda and a new Ducati, both which have received first class servicing and repairs. I really don't need to go anywhere else!

Hey people of Southern Mass and RI, if you are looking for anything motor sports related, you…read moreshould give Poole Motor Sports at least the chance to earn you're business. Here's my story: I was looking to purchase a new 2011 Yamaha Stryker. The 2013 models were due out in a few months so this an older version, but a few dealers still had some kicking around the shop. I also wanted to test ride it, as I was doubling the CC's from my previous bike. I live in Boston where no one in a 35 mile radius would even think about letting you take one out. So I made a few phone calls: Dealer 1: " I don't "exactly" allow test rides. First we negotiate the price of the bike and if all goes well, then I'll let you take it out for a spin before you sign." Dealer 2: "The manager is out today and no one can make that decision. Call back tomorrow or Wed" Poole Motor sports: "Sure, come down today. Just give me three hours to prep a demo" STAR 1! After a hassle free jaunt around the block, I could have just put the keys on the counter and walked away. There was no pressure, no sales pitch. In fact, I had to approach Ted and express interest in making a purchase. STAR 2! Ted and I start talking numbers. He honestly admits that he's motivated to move this older model off his lot. No BS about how its a popular model that everyone is looking for and that's why he got extras (Got that line of crap from another dealership) Also, not once does he have to take my offer to a sales manager or a back office. Why you ask? Oh yeah..Ted is the owner of Poole Motor sports. I'm dealing with the top guy. STAR 3! We can't agree on a number and I'd like to do a bit of shopping around, but at this point, Ted has earned my respect and I want to do business with him, so I promise him, I'd at least give him the chance to match any offer I get. And I walk out the door with no pressure and a hand shake. Later that day, I call him back with some of my offers and he matches the best one I got. The next day, I drive the 50 miles back to Poole Motor sports with my old bike to trade in and a bank check, just in case we can throw together a package. His guys take my old motorcycle for a quick ride and an inspection and within 15 minutes, Ted offers me top dollar for my trade. With the Yamaha trade-in incentive going on, I end up getting an extra $500 on top of that for a number that I was more than comfortable with STAR 4! During the closing process, Ted and I finalize the numbers and never once does he even mention extended warranty or pre-paid service agreements. None of that extra crap that a dealer usually tries to add on. In short, I ride off into the sunset with my brand new bike. STAR 5! The only negative thing I can say about Poole Motor sports is that it is too far from my house. Not that anyone can fix that. I can't write about his service dept or parts/accessories, but if he was closer to Boston, I would definitely give Ted and his team a chance to impress me with those as well. In short, if you are within 20 mile radius of his shop, you should consider Poole Motor Sports for any of your sporting needs. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I didn't realize I forgot to review Poole back in April. I would've likely given them 4 or even 5…read morestars then. I only realized I never reviewed them now as I intended to revise my comments and lower their rating. So here's my story.. In early April, I discovered that Poole still had a leftover 2010 Kawasaki Ninja 250R in blue. I had just signed up for the CCRI beginner rider's course, but I bought the bike anyway; Kawasaki discontinued the beautiful color for 2011 and the price was good. My experience at Poole then on that day of purchase was great. The two men working the shop were friendly and I didn't feel shunned or looked down upon for being a novice to motorcycles. They helped me get everything set up and I was on my way. They even installed a fender delete kit for me before delivering the bike to my home. Then we fast forward. At this point, I don't see myself going to Poole for anything. They have been sporadic and lukewarm to my email questions, at one point simply replying to a question with a one-word answer, "No." Does that sounds friendly or professional to you? Not to me. Just a week or two ago, I finally got to start the bike up and practice in my neighbood with my newly-acquired permit. The bike wasn't starting properly. An email inquiry to Poole was met with them saying it might not be a warranty-covered issue and they dragged their feet at the prospect of coming to pick up my bike. Don't worry, Poole. If you even bother contacting me back with a pickup time as you stated you would days ago (but haven't), I'm going to decline. Thankfully, one of my coworkers is very handy with machines and is going to take care of it for me. Should I need anything in the future, I think I'll be going to a closer (and hopefully more enjoyable to work with) competitor.
