Instead, our family left feeling disregarded and deeply disappointed by the way we were treated. Our experience with Andrew Brunsen was particularly upsetting. There was no genuine warmth, no welcoming greeting, and very little effort to engage with or acknowledge the family during what was an incredibly painful time. His demeanor made family members feel as though we were an inconvenience rather than people who were grieving the loss of someone we loved. What was especially troubling was the difference in how people were treated depending on who was paying for the arrangements. The person responsible for making the payment was treated with courtesy and attention. The other family members did not receive that same level of consideration or respect. That contrast was impossible to overlook and made an already heartbreaking experience even more upsetting. A funeral home should understand that this is not an ordinary customer-service interaction. Families walking through the door are often dealing with shock, grief, and an enormous amount of emotion. We were not looking for special treatment. We were looking for basic compassion, patience, and human decency. Instead, our family experienced an interaction that felt transactional and dismissive. There was a striking absence of the compassion and grace that should be fundamental to this profession. I sincerely hope this experience is taken as an opportunity for reflection. Families in mourning deserve to be treated with dignity regardless of who is signing the check.

She made herself available one morning so we could meet in person to discuss the service's details. I was impressed by her experience and attention to detail during that appointment. I wanted to feel like everything would be professionally taken care of on the hardest day of my life. Connie made me feel confident about that. She even offered signage for people not to take photos, touch my mom during the wake, and ensure that people wore masks (which was very important to me). I left feeling understood and supported. Connie made herself available for any questions or concerns leading up to the wake, which was greatly appreciated. On the day of the wake service, Connie and David were prompt at the church. They took care of the setup and helped guide us with our personal details for the service. Everything that we had chosen during that earlier appointment came precisely as discussed. This company knows what they're doing. In the middle of my intense grief, I felt comforted knowing I could hand such an important event over to them. They allowed us (the immediate family) plenty of time to say our goodbyes after the service. We never felt rushed. We placed our last goodbye letters in with my mom, roses, and anything else that mattered to us. It was the hardest goodbye, but I'm thankful that they never rushed it and respected our experience. Several days after the service, the ashes were ready. I didn't have the emotional strength to pick them up myself, but my dear husband made the short drive to get them for us. Their setup and the respect they showed my mom's ashes when my husband arrived were so thoughtful. Connie and David went above and beyond for our grieving family. They did some extra things for us that blew us away and just brought light into our very dark season. Connie, David, Simplicity family, thank you for your kindness, thoughtfulness, and respect during this time. We hold the canvas and all the details close to our hearts. They were not ethnocentric and completely accepted the Sri Lankan Buddhist traditions, which meant a lot less money for them (simple cremation, simple burial ceremony). They worked with a frustratingly incompetent and understaffed cemetery, they were immense help when I was just overwhelmed with grief and frustration. We were emailed a link with information regarding terms of a cremation/burial and as well as catalog of products that were available for purchase (urn, jewelry, etc.) The process was very smooth and the items offered were diverse and affordable. We were very pleased with the items we purchased, and they turned out beautifully. We inquired about being present for the cremation and were able to schedule an appointment. We had an hour of time with our baby girl before she was cremated, and we were able to witness as much of the process as we were comfortable with. Charlie handled our sweet girl with so much delicacy and care, then prepared our items with her ashes in a mindful and thoughtful way. Seeing her handled in such a gentle way made the farewell a little easier and gave Charlie a special place in our hearts forever. The administrative staff was also very kind and answered all of our questions with such sweetness as we were making arrangements. I had requested Charlie for the cremation. Although I didn't witness the cremation, I know he took exceptional care of my python just from the brief conversation I had with him when I made the arrangements. I requested to chat with him and he took time out of his day to do just that. I also spoke with Ashley who handled processing the cremated remains. She too took time out of her day to talk with me. She was also very professional and listened to my requests without any hesitation. She followed my requests without issue.
