The funeral home is clean, bright, updated, and very welcoming. Jim was amazing at going through our options for my Dad and made our selection process easy and very accommodating to the little changes we made here and there. Everything was organized in a folder for us and he made sure we didn't have any questions and if we did he responded almost immediately and made himself very accessible. Mike was there the day of the wake and he was amazing and very compassionate. Everything went perfectly and we joked about how my dad actually looked better at his showing than his final days with us (but he really did). The funeral and church proceedings went smoothly and like I said, professional, timely, and so very organized. They had the option to play my Apple playlist I made over the stereo system there, we made a slideshow that played during the service that they provide the link to upload and use so easily, and also had many easels for our numerous photo boards. When looking for a place for your loved one, I wouldn't go anywhere else! They went above and beyond to make sure my Dad was celebrated how we wished and we felt that! Thank you Jim & Mike for going the extra mile. We would recommend them to anyone without a doubt.

With that said, the hair and makeup on my grandma were horrible. I did not know that she didn't want to use this funeral home until after her services. Apparently she had told my family that they don't make the bodies look good, and she was right! There was an inch gap between her makeup and hairline where pale skin showed. It could be seen from the back of the room, that white outline that almost glowed. When closer, I could see where the makeup completely missed part of her nose, her hands were blotchy, face streaked. It looked like an airbrush was used improperly, it was even in her eyebrows and eyelashes. We could even see where her neck had been stitched up from embalming her. I would think that the outfit she were to wear would be considered when deciding where to perform the embalming. I'm not familiar enough with the process to know, so this may have been unavoidable. I've been to many funerals and wakes, I do not expect the body to look like the person it once was. I do expect better than this though.

Losing someone you love is never easy, but the way they guided us through every step brought comfort when we needed it most. From the very first conversation, Bogdan Gal treated us not just as clients, but as family. His kindness, patience, and genuine empathy meant more than words can express. He handled every detail of the arrangements for Joanna Bednarz's funeral with the utmost dignity and respect. The service was truly beautiful -- thoughtful, elegant, and perfectly reflective of Joanna's life and spirit. Bogdan's steady guidance helped us feel supported and reassured through every decision. We are also deeply thankful to Renia, whose warmth and understanding comforted us from the moment we walked through the doors. She was incredibly organized, responsive, and gentle in every interaction, making a painful process feel a little less overwhelming. A heartfelt thank you as well to Donna and the entire staff. Every single person we encountered showed compassion, professionalism, and sincere care. Their attention to detail and quiet support during the service did not go unnoticed. They created an atmosphere of peace and respect that allowed our family to grieve, remember, and honor Joanna in the most meaningful way. In a time filled with sorrow, Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium provided light, comfort, and dignity. My husband started the research for funeral and cremation companies. Despite all the people he called and the quotes he received, Simplicity's responsiveness, thoroughness, and fair pricing beat them all out. I also liked how their website was clear and full of information. And I appreciated how quick Connie was in responding to our questions. She made herself available one morning so we could meet in person to discuss the service's details. I was impressed by her experience and attention to detail during that appointment. I wanted to feel like everything would be professionally taken care of on the hardest day of my life. Connie made me feel confident about that. She even offered signage for people not to take photos, touch my mom during the wake, and ensure that people wore masks (which was very important to me). I left feeling understood and supported. Connie made herself available for any questions or concerns leading up to the wake, which was greatly appreciated. On the day of the wake service, Connie and David were prompt at the church. They took care of the setup and helped guide us with our personal details for the service. Everything that we had chosen during that earlier appointment came precisely as discussed. This company knows what they're doing. In the middle of my intense grief, I felt comforted knowing I could hand such an important event over to them. They allowed us (the immediate family) plenty of time to say our goodbyes after the service. We never felt rushed. We placed our last goodbye letters in with my mom, roses, and anything else that mattered to us. It was the hardest goodbye, but I'm thankful that they never rushed it and respected our experience. Several days after the service, the ashes were ready. I didn't have the emotional strength to pick them up myself, but my dear husband made the short drive to get them for us. Their setup and the respect they showed my mom's ashes when my husband arrived were so thoughtful. Connie and David went above and beyond for our grieving family. They did some extra things for us that blew us away and just brought light into our very dark season. Connie, David, Simplicity family, thank you for your kindness, thoughtfulness, and respect during this time. We hold the canvas and all the details close to our hearts. My beautiful mom deserved the very best, and I'm glad she got that with the help of your company.
