We had our uncle's funeral here last Sunday (12/30/18) and Monday 12/31/18). They were very unprofessional. We did not feel like we were welcome or supported and we paid a lot of money for services including extra services Rick our contact at Curley said they would do when we first met and then did not do. ie: contact Fox's Restaurant with a final headcount and contacting VFW post for Color Guard and Honor Guard. In the middle of the memorial service, my grieving aunt received a call from the restaurant asking her for a final count. Our uncle was a Viet Nam, Rick assured us they would follow up with the color guard he did not. The color guard was supposed to be there 30 minutes before his service ended. My grieving aunt called the post to see if they were coming they showed up 5 minutes before the service ended. Not one of the employees the smiled at us. Our other aunt had to write the obituary because when we were at the funeral home the Sunday two days after our uncle died, Rick did not even ask the names of his siblings. Just his wife's name and his parents' names. Nothing else! So our aunt went home and wrote one up and emailed it to them. Can you imagine how short it would have been without any of that? How disrespectful.
As it turned out they just copied it and pasted it, BUT left his grieving wife's name off! At first, we called because the obituary was not on the website for a few days after she wrote it. We had family and friends who were not able to attend looking for it, but then we had to call Curley's back again to ask when it was going to be on the website. After one whole day after it was on their website, we noticed my aunt's name was not mentioned at all.
On the day of his funeral, the flag and honor guard were at the cemetery because my aunt followed up and called Hines, they were never contacted by Curley. We were told by Rick we could pick up the flowers and the pictures etc that people brought after the funeral, but it was New Year's Eve and they closed at the 3 PM. My wife and I arrived at 2:40 PM to find the room cleared our flowers and stuff on the floor by a side service door and another body already in the room and they did not appear to be closing for the day. As we were going through our things stack by the back door my aunt notice an old family picture easel that she had brought was missing, the lady who cleared out the room said, Oh I put it in the bag can I see, so it was like we were lying and she proceeded to look through the bag and said, hmmm let me look in the back. She went to the back of the house and return with a good size rectangle shape container with about 20 similar frames and told us we could look through these... ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! The place looks very nice on the inside very clean and orderly. I would not use them again to bury our dog! read more
