Omg! The Special Combo is the best deal around!! For $10.99 you get a main dish, rice or noodles, 2…read morespring rolls, some roast pork and pineapple juice. If I lived the Kitchener-Waterloo area, I would be here every single week!! The combo is huge. My husband and I shared it and we were stuffed silly. I got us the Bicol Express as our main (pork, green beans and peppers in a spicy creamy coconut milk sauce). It had a nice fiery kick to it. The pork was good, but too fatty for my tastes. Lots of fatty pieces, definitely not lean meats, lol. I chose the noodles (pancit bihon) instead of rice. I liked that the noodles were not oily/greasy. They had some cabbage and carrots in it. And was topped with pieces of deep fried pork belly (lechon kawali). The pork skin was so crispy (and fatty, but lechon kawali is supposed to be, lol). I loved the spring rolls (lumpia). They were long and crispy and the filling was mostly ground pork. I hate Caesar salad, so I gave it all to my husband. It was run of the mill, apparently. I found it odd that a Filipino restaurant would include Caesar salad as a side, but I guess it's a cheap filler. It was just romaine lettuce, croutons and dressing. The pineapple juice was good, but a bit on the sweet side. They were busy with tons of orders, but we didn't have to wait that long. Staff were friendly and courteous. They are in a converted house. There's free parking in front and behind the restaurant.

You will want to check out their Facebook page, where they have a very impressively detailed post…read moreeach day listing what they're serving that day. Amazing food, amazing value. The "combo plate" I had was $12.99 plus tax, consists of a meat, carb, two lumpia shanghai (eggroll like, filled with pork), caesar salad and pineapple juice. The combo plate price seems to vary depending on what meat you order. For my meat and carb, I had the kare-kare, which was beef cooked in a rich peanut sauce, with white rice, and all mixed together it tasted absolutely delicious. I also had a pork belly as a side meat and thought that it was decent, but definitely preferred the kare-kare a lot more. The lettuce in the Caesar salad was fresh and the pineapple juice was very refreshing. No indoor seating due to COVID, and all the cooking/food areas are wrapped with plastic. There is some patio seating, but the area is not well shaded, and there is about seating for only 12 or so. There is a parking lot in front of the building with parking for about 7 cars (shared with the salon next door), but be sure not to park in the neighbouring Forwell Variety Store. They accept Amex and are eligible for a Shop Small promotion.

Visited Berto's to beat this summer heat and left feeling satisfied. The workers are very friendly…read moreand polite. The place was bright and airy as well. We ordered their Halo-Halo, Palabok and their Berto's Fried Chicken. Halo-Halo (5/5) is hands down the best summer dessert. It's so refreshing and had the perfect blend of sweetness and creaminess. They added the perfect amount of ube ice cream, caramel flan and a mixture of jelly, red beans and sugar palm fruit at the bottom. It's a must-try treat. Palabok (2/5) was okay. It was a bit dry and not as saucy as we would've preferred. It could use some chicharron (pork rinds). There's not much protein in this meal other than the boiled egg which was a let-down. We also noticed that some of the noodles have crisped up as well which must've been from the heat lamp/steam table. The dish could use some shrimp and topped with some fried garlic chips. Berto's Fried Chicken (5/5) was delicious. It was fresh, tender and juicy. It had the right amount of seasoning that didn't make it overwhelmingly salty. The garlic fried rice and fried eggs were a great combination with chicken. Any of their breakfast items have always been good.
