They had a small pool which I wanted to note first because it's what my kids were exciting about! We stayed here during our overnight stay in Carmel. It's a cute place with parking available underground. There is a small elevator from the parking area to the other floors but it is super tiny so can only fit so many people. I felt like having just four of us in there with our baggage was pushing it already in the elevator. It is run down and breakfast was not served because of Covid-19, which is understandable. The location of the place is central to a lot of restaurants and shopping so we would love to stay here again.

check-in was smooth and easy...free parking...great central location to restaurants, shops and carmel beach...great front desk staff...even preheated the small pool warmer on request...some positives, but more negatives...roughly $300 a night on weekdays...room doors use actual keys...the building has a old worn motel feel....outdoor stairs and walkways to room...no room service and everything must be requested (covid restrictions)...the interiors are quite aged and worn badly....bathroom was equally poor with barely functioning toilet...needing a plunger handy just to flush toilet paper...room is equally sad...entire room in need of a full remodel...

We enjoyed our stay! The room was large and clean. We enjoyed the fireplace- even in June! The location was very good and underground parking was free! I'd book again!

My wife, son and I stayed at Adobe Inn the weekend of 7/24-7/26, and unfortunately I have to report that we were not satisfied with our stay for a number of reasons. I booked through Hotels.com and, as per the listing on the site, breakfast for two people was included in the price of the room. When we arrived and checked in, we were told that not only would breakfast not be served, but that our room would not be cleaned daily, either. We were not expecting this. Strikes one and two. I understand that due to Covid-19 that certain concessions and limitations must be implemented, which would have been easier to accept had these concessions extended to the price of the room. We paid a total of $632.59 for two nights, an average of $316.30 per day, and to not have the aforementioned basic services was disappointing to say the least. There were cheaper alternatives where we could have stayed if we were looking for bare amenities. Next, we were also informed that a coffee maker and associated supplies would be provided upon request only. We asked to have a coffee maker etc. brought to the room, and it was promptly delivered shortly after we got to the room. It wasn't until Sunday morning that we realized that the 'Best By' date on the coffee packaging had expired! The decaf packages were dated September 2019 and the regular packages were dated May 2020. (I have attached pictures with this review). We called the front desk and reported the issue, and were told that non-expired coffee packages would be brought up to the room (though, no apology was given). Ten minutes or so later, we received a call from the front desk and were informed that they were only able to find non-expired coffee packages for decaf; they did not have any for regular. We declined as we do not drink decaf. We were told that there were many great coffee places in the area (really?). Again, no apology was given. Strike three. Suffice to say, I will avoid this hotel upon subsequent visits.

My fiancé and I are currently in California for business and decided to visit Carmel by the sea for the weekend. We ended up booking a second floor ocean view room at the Adobe Inn at the urging of my fiancés boss. To be honest, I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did, but I enjoyed my stay. For one, I had the best nights rest I've had all week at this place lol. The beds weren't super soft, but they weren't hard either. The staff at the front desk were extremely polite and made recommendations regarding food and things to do. The hotel is also right in the heart of town and extremely close to all the shops. Everything is a walkable distance and very convenient. Also the place provides parking so you don't have to worry about your car. The only criticisms are when reservations were made, we were told we would get a complementary breakfast. However, upon our arrival we were told there wasn't breakfast due to covid. Also the elevator located in the garage is scary and extremely small! Lol...never seen an elevator that small. Besides this two things, I would definitely visit this inn again.

They've designed their hotel to look and feel like a little oasis. The intention was effective because it did feel like an enclosed paradise, quiet and pleasing to the eye. Our service during our drinks and pizza at their cafe and during breakfast time (included in our package) was excellent and staff were really friendly! Complimentary bubbles upon arrival which i love! Dog blankets outside. Good looking bathrooms. Aesthetically pleasing place. Robes and slippers in rooms. Luxurious sheets. My husband didn't love the bed but perhaps he just has a sensitive preference for his back. the rooms were swanky but small but we didn't mind it for 2 nights only. we spent a lot of time enjoying the nice weather outside. One of the more expensive rooms on property, the courtyard 'suite,' is adjacent to the lounge area, so we heard conversation right outside our window until after 10pm. There was no effort to ask the group to move to another spot that would have been less disruptive, despite my ask to the front desk. We were charged $50 extra per child for our family of 2 adults and 2 children for a suite that has two rooms and two king beds. They have 4 charging stations for EV's, however parking is not enforced. There were non EV vehicles parked in those spaces the entirety of brief stay, so unfortunately we were inconvenienced by not being able to charge at a planned stopping point on our road trip. Next time I come to Carmel I'll be researching alternatives.

Opened in 2022, it feels brand new yet already timeless, with design that's both elegant and warm. The rooms? Incredible. Heated bathroom floors (yes, heated floors), a complimentary snack bar and fridge stocked with goodies, a sleek Dyson hairdryer, and even a fancy bidet -- every detail has been thought through. Our patio looked out toward the ocean, and at night you could hear the waves. But the real star of the show is breakfast. The coffee is excellent, the quiches are light and flavorful, and the almond croissants... wow. Hands down the best croissants I've ever had. I would come back just for those. Service was top-notch from start to finish. The staff made us feel so welcome -- kind, attentive, and genuinely happy to help. Add in the location (just steps from the beach), and this place checks every single box. If you're looking for a Carmel getaway that blends luxury with charm, Villa Mara is it.

Our room wasn't ready but they offered to hold our bags while we went out to lunch and guaranteed it would be ready by the time we got back. They do offer a welcome drink that you can have upon arrival or whenever you'd like - we opted for the drink before we headed out to dinner and we were able to sit by the fireplace on a cozy couch. They offer cake to all guests at night in the lobby/bar area in addition to any of the snacks in the room. Breakfast was included although we were really excited about this other place in town. The experience was also disturbed by how unwilling, and unhelpful the receptionist / front desk woman was when we attempted to check in (she was an older Hispanic, heavy set woman). We explained that we were also dining at their restaurant, Aubergine (on premises) and we were hoping to be let into our room only one hour before check-in (3pm vs. 4pm), so that we could prepare ourselves properly for our 2-Michelin Star meal there at 5pm. Mind you, we also requested this when our reservation was made directly through their website (2 months in advance) + we were some of the only dinner guests at their restaurant that were spending the night. This receptionist was unbelievably rude I had to remind her that I was the guest! Later, they were able to get us in. I didn't understand why she could not be professional given their claim to service and luxury, sadly we experienced neither from her. Literally everyone else, which happened to be male, was extremely kind, attentive and helpful! ***For the price per night, the quality versus luxury ratio was not there for us.*** And with the rude, unprofessional behavior that almost guarantees no return. Hopefully they can get better staff and upgrades underway. It would be a shame to keep "letting it go" as it seems that they are doing now.

We booked one of the double rooms with a fireplace. While the room itself was fine, the walls and ceilings are extremely thin. From around 9pm to 1:00 AM, we could clearly hear footsteps from the room above us, along with conversations. It didn't seem like the guests upstairs were being intentionally disruptive -- it felt more like an issue with how the property is built and the lack of sound insulation. We did call the front desk and asked if they could notify the guests upstairs. After that, they were more mindful of their steps, which we appreciated, but we could still hear them trying to whispering. We chose this property because we were looking for a peaceful place to rest, reset, and enjoy quiet evenings. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. For the amount we paid for a weekend stay, we expected much better soundproofing and overall comfort. Sadly, we won't be returning or recommending this property to our family or friends.
