What a great space for sitting and talking.
    Kurt G.

This review is only for the bar. It is really a great space; perfect for hanging out and talking. Drinks were fine. Service was indifferent. The music was pretty good. The space makes up for the shortfalls. Actually would make me consider staying at the hotel!

Amazing food. Shared the nachos, salad and fajitas with 3 other people and it was the perfect amount of food. Service was prompt and friendly.

It's a very small little bar tucked in the lobby of the Historic Taos Inn. The bar itself is only 8-10 seats but it opens up into the lobby where there is ample seating and live music every night. There's also a fireplace and the old city well in the center that has been converted into a fountain. Very nice spot within the hotel to enjoy a drink and relax.

Este lugar es de los más hermosos que he visitado. La calidad de la comida es estupenda. La atención es increíble. Diría que lo que más me gustó de este lugar fue la margarita Spicy con chile del desierto de Chihuahua.

A buddy had told me that I needed to go to the Adobe Bar. Unfortunately, I forgot his advice, but after a four week, stay in Taos and visiting every music venue within 20 miles , boy was he right. The hotel was built back in the 20's and is extremely charming. The guests have been going there for decades. Best music in town. Every night at 6:00. The food is great.

Friendly barkeep, great margaritas to be be had. The bar is stashed inside the Taos Inn, a classic location steps away from the plaza.

My wife had the salmon, and I must say it was expertly prepared. As I was looking at the skin, I thought for sure it was gonna be a little soggy. The chef prepared that to the point it was a light, beautiful crispy, wafer almost, chefs kiss. The fish was moist and flavorful, and it came with a couple of variations in salsa that brought layers of complexity to the dish. The risotto was a little dense and dry as it was a informed as a cake. The wine selection is good as well. Unfortunately, my dish was nearly an edible. I blame it on myself since I asked the server about the preparation of the pork chop. She went back and asked the chef about the temperature because I am conscious of certain pork elements and since I requested a certain temperature, I think the chef took it out on my requestThe meat itself was a little tough and sadly, the crust was not flavorful at all. I only ate a couple of bites. Again, if I would've gotten trout or something else and just shut my mouth, I probably would've had an excellent dish. It had a variation of rhubarb, turnips, and something else that really didn't feel like it was integrated properly for me. Our experience with the server was wonderful, but let me tell you, the dessert fabulous. They had a house made ice cream, which was banana and a variety of nuts and chocolate chips that should be sold around the world because it was absolutely the best. After our meal, we went upstairs for some more drinks before closing, and had a great cool time up there. Lastly, the layout of the restaurant which was a former residence was really really nice, romantic and intimate.

She even gave us a heads up that she was also handling a 7-top table and made sure we could get our order in before theirs since it was just the two of us. Thought that was really thoughtful and great service. We started with the salsa, queso, guacamole, and a Caesar salad for appetizers and everything was delicious. A great way to kick off the meal. For the main course we both went with the steak fajitas. The steak was a little on the tough side, but overall still really good and heavily seasoned. The portion is generous too. One order could easily be split between two people. It comes with rice, beans, cheese, pico, and three tortillas. The restaurant itself is super charming. It's inside the historic Taos Inn and you can really feel the history in the space. The atmosphere alone makes the experience memorable. Would highly recommend checking out Doc Martin's if you're visiting Taos. Great service, great atmosphere, and a solid meal.

This was a must stop recommended by many people so we were happy to secure a reservation and dine there. Ambiance was nice, we enjoyed the warm lighting and how it was inside an old historic catholic church. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable as well. I will say- the food was decent but it was nothing extravagant or to write home about like others have mentioned in the past. A lot of items on the menu have like one or two ingredients that I feel throw the dish off, so it was difficult deciding what to get there. We ordered the cornbread, mussels, the trout and the bison when we went for dinner. By far my biggest complaint with the whole experience was the fact that it is a cash only establishment, with no ATM even available on the property. You have to drive beforehand to the closest Allsups and withdraw whatever you feel will be the most for the check plus gratuity. This really limits what you can/can't get on the menu depending on how much cash you bring. I personally do not enjoy feeling limited by that or having to do math at the table in my head to make sure I got enough to cover it all. This also makes people look at the menu beforehand maybe online to get a good idea before driving to said gas station. They say on the website it's because "By forgoing transaction fees, we can better support our employees, serve organic food, and boost our local economy." but in reality I believe it's because they do not want to pay credit card fees and whatnot. Their sister restaurant Manzanita (which we also dined at) was not cash only though which was odd if they are related, so something isn't lining up at The Love Apple. We still had the best time with each others company which matters the most celebrating a special occasion, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to tell everyone that they gotta go there when they are in Taos.

I pondered if a 2-star rating would be appropriate but he was a lot nicer when I was leaving (he said a firm thanks) and extra stat was added to the whole rating. During my visit in Taos, I had a chance to go to a few different wine places and none of them did "flights". Whereas the other place was generous enough to let me taste more than a handful of their reds this place only gave me one of them (which I didn't care for.) I didn't want to be an entitled customer so I (out of politeness) refrained from asking me for a few more samples. I hence opted out on ordering a full glass for something I might not enjoy as all I could get were the descriptions of several other reds he said. I sure was hungry though so I ordered the mixed green salad and the rotating dessert (some sponge spice cake with date in it.) Both of them (when I ate them later in my hotel room) were okay to decent but I wasn't nowhere near "impressed". Will I go back here when I am in town again? Maybe but I can simply go to the other one I liked more or some vineyards that are 20-30 minutes from the center of Taos. It appears that some other people experienced the same questionable customer service experience (based on their reviews) when I felt "unwelcome" or even "being dismissed" I know that it wasn't personal. Yup, 3-star is good enough for this place for now.

The service was good but I feel like they can be more informative, especially to someone new in town. If you're not aware, the burgers do not come with fries. You must order them separately. One thing the server did not mention. All she asked was, fries or onion rings? Now, I do understand we could read the menu, which we did, but most hamburger joints come with a side of fries especially at these prices!!! You're paying between $13-18 a burger, it should come with a side of fries! Now what she also failed to tell us was the amount of French fries that come when you order them. It's a large basket that could be shared between 2-3 people. We ordered three fries plus 1 onion ring. We paid $16.50 for three fries and barely ate through one whole basket! The fries seemed fresh cut but seemed like they had this weird film on the outside. Not sure if it's their oil, or if they didn't fry it at a high enough temperature. What we ordered: - bison burger (medium) : it came out burnt to a crisp. The initial bite wasn't bad but eating it more felt like you had a mouth full of ash. While I can appreciate a good charbroiled or grilled hamburger, it was overly done. Not to mention it was over cooked. There was no seasoning on top of the burnt flavor. It wasn't really edible. - old timer w/cheese (medium): add an additional charge for cheese! This too came out burnt! My daughter could only eat a little as it was too charbroiled/grilled. It too was over cooked and no where near medium. - green chili burger (medium): I had high hopes of this burger as it came with cheese and their infamous New Mexico Green chili! While my patty was not burnt, it was over cooked and it had zero to no seasoning! It came with a green chili mayo which was really good but it still didn't help with the seasoning! The burgers here seem fresh and the beef seems a good quality, but I still believe it's overpriced for what you get! I also understand times are hard and our economy is struggling with prices, but then they need to find other ways to cut prices down without sacrificing quality.
