So, while he was addressing one issue, I asked if the price could be lower. He went back and forth what would be needed. He kept bragging how he was the best dentist. Finally, when he realized I would not go for price he stated. He stated he could do nothing. At my last visit for teeth cleaning, a different person than the one I had been accustomed to did my cleaning. This woman did not explain things well, was extremely rough, and never gave me a breather. She started to floss my teeth, and I had to stop. When I went to the receptionist, I was very angry. I was not going to say anything. Then, this totally unprofessional woman goes to the receptionist and says she (meaning me) just got up and left. At that point, I got mad and stated why I was so angry. Woman then says that she was cleaning my teeth (that justified her extreme roughness) and at that point I lost it. She then says why didn't you say anything-I just looked at her (how can someone say something when something is in their mouth). Then, she and the receptionist go running to the dentist like two idiot children. At that point, I left. Finally, I cannot comprehend how this dentist was ever rated number one.

After pointing out this issue, they spoke with the front desk who said they had made a mistake in scheduling, and would update my chart to do the fillings on the left. After applying benzocaine cream to the left side, I was waiting for the shot when I was informed that there had been another mistake, this time regarding the financial agreement. They told me the cost would be over double the amount I had agreed to at the beginning of the appointment--just 20 minutes earlier. At this point, I was already in the chair, half of my mouth was numbed and waiting novocaine, and they refused to honor the original price. Their solution was to proceed with only one of the three fillings and reschedule the others if I could not meet the new, much higher price. I felt that this was unacceptable and decided to walk out. I am extremely disappointed with this experience and would not recommend this office. I would give 0 if I could.

The office staff and hygienists are very nice, and professional, and honestly, they are the people you are likely to be dealing with the most unless you have serious dental issues. Then at one of my twice-yearly cleanings, a different dentist came in and did the final check after my cleaning. When I asked who the new doctor was, I got a vague explanation about taking on a partner, or selling the practice, or something of that nature. When I asked if Dr. Ditomassi was still practicing there, I was told yes, although I never saw him again after that. Last year, I broke a tooth and had to get a crown. The new dentist took the mold and performed the procedure. First of all, it took almost a month to get the final mold from the lab, so I had a temporary crown that whole time, which is not fun. Secondly, I have had trouble with the crown ever since. It scrapes my cheek, and my tongue, and seeing as it is the rear-most molar, I wish that rather than spending $1000 on a crown, I would have just had it yanked out. As far as I am concerned, this is not the same practice that I used for so long, and I am now looking for a new dentist. I think patients have the right to be informed if their care is going to be handed off to someone new rather than just having it sprung upon them. If I had been given the choice to only come into the office when Dr. Ditomassi was there, I would have - but I wasn't.

This is after she put a crown in a few months back, over a cavity. Dr. Mackler once commented to me that she moves very fast. She moves so fast that she advocated me going to a place she said she uses, to remove a tooth which was not loose and was not bothering me and maybe could be saved. I found a five star dentist who specializes in challenging crown situations and yesterday, he performed a successful surgery to remove the cavity and seal up the crown. He said when he got in there, that the cavity wasn't that bad and the situation wasn't all that dismal. Dr. Scolar had told me that if I didn't pull the tooth out that because of the cavity, I might die of an abcess. I feel that her emphasis on moving fast without empathy or connection to the patient is not at all helpful and I am now changing dentists to the dentist I found her expressed both understanding and compassion.

I tested positive for Covid today and called at 8 AM to reschedule. Apparently, if I did that I would be dropped from the practice. I had proof of a positive test, and they said it was OK to still come in. That the hygienist will be masked up for the service anyways. Didn't Covid kill a bunch of people? how insane.
