Staying here for a few nights while at the vineyard for a work meeting. It's a central location,…read moreperfect walking area for coffee, shops and more. Check in was smooth, the room is cute and has comfy bedding. I stayed in room 306. It has a wonderful Balcony and a small wet bar area which is great for a person with food allergies to have a little set up. It is close to the ferry walkable if you are mobile and able. If you have any mobility issues I would suggest taxi even though it is close all the streets to get there are brick or cobblestone and very uneven which made for a treacherous short walk for me in the dark. Not the business issue just an FYI.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! ABSOLUTELY AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!…read more My experience with the Mansion House was beyond frustrating, and I would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to THINK TWICE! The problems started the day I booked. They overcharged me for SIX nights instead of FOUR! Then they insisted I pay the full amount for all four nights upfront, even though their stated policy only requires full payment for stays of three nights or less. Things only got worse. We were traveling during a nor'easter, and there was an official travel advisory in effect. Our ferry to Martha's Vineyard was canceled due to the storm, making it physically impossible for us to get to the island. (I have proof of this) Did the Mansion House show any understanding or flexibility? ABSOLUTELY NOT! They charged us anyway. Then came the real kicker. They provided American Express with information that was simply NOT TRUE. And the best part? I HAVE IT IN WRITING! I am continuing to dispute these charges because I refuse to accept being misrepresented and treated this way. They claim they generously offered to let us rebook within 30 days. How thoughtful! Except I DON'T LIVE IN MASSACHUSETTS! I live in Michigan, and returning to Martha's Vineyard within 30 days was completely unrealistic. To make matters worse, they told American Express that I verbally accepted their offer to rebook. THAT IS A FLAT-OUT LIE! I never agreed to rebook. The ONLY reason I called them back was because American Express instructed me to formally cancel the reservation as part of the dispute process. And here's another little warning: Apparently, you had better not use any "curse words" when expressing your frustration, because the assistant manager gets all uptight about that. Perhaps they should be more concerned about their billing practices, customer service, and the accuracy of what they tell credit card companies than the language of an understandably furious customer. I have traveled extensively, and I have never experienced this level of inflexibility and disregard for a paying guest, especially when circumstances were completely beyond our control. I WILL CONTINUE TO DISPUTE THESE CHARGES UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED IN MY FAVOR. And finally, to the Mansion House: You had an opportunity to handle an unfortunate situation with professionalism and compassion. Instead, you turned it into an ongoing battle over charges and statements I believe are completely unjustified. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE! Our vacation was ruined and mansion house added insult to injury. We had 8 more days of a trip at other cities and no other hotel was unreasonable. Shame on you!

Absolutely amazing. Booked a room at the last minute (cannot believe there was any available - this…read moremust be the best kept secret on the island), made the trek from Boston, and after a short walk from the pier at vineyard haven, arrived in a quiet residential area where the B&B is located. The gardens are beautiful, the pool area is impeccably clean and tastefully decorated (as is the rest of the house/rooms). Met Charles as soon as he arrived, and he was so welcoming, gracious, and helpful. Eagerly helped us map out a bike route to Edgartown, set us up with bikes, helmets and even beach towels. There were ice cold bottles of water waiting for us in the mini fridge, and even a plate of homemade cookies (absolutely amazing). One B&B you don't want to miss poolside breakfast at. Charles (one of them, at least) is one of the best chefs I've ever come across. Cannot say enough about this place. Stay here.

We appreciated the thoughtful details around the room like the warm towel racks, the homemade oatmeal and coconut cookies, the bottle of wine that was left in the fridge (which we most certainly drank!). The property itself was well manicured and beautiful, and the homemade breakfast was to die for. We were given great suggestions for things to do as well which we took advantage of on our last day and we're so glad we did. On our last morning we let them know we were leaving early for the airport and they dropped off homemade strawberry scones which were the perfect on the go breakfast for our ferry ride back to Woods Hole. If you're looking to experience a clean and inviting place with 5 star hospitality, Charles and Charles is a must!
