Therefore the next time I went back it was suppose to be easier. I had to fill out the information on the computer. After it was done I was told to take a seat. I waited over 20 minutes. They even asked if I was waiting to get screened and I said yes. I counted 6 people working on the screening, but none actually doing any screening. Then they finally asked me if I was waiting. Again I said yes. I went up to the counter and was told you could have just stood in front of the counter and we would have started the screening process. They knew I was there and waiting for the screening so the comment wasn't valid. I went up to the counter and the person there was in training. I didn't think much about it at first until it became apparent he hadn't been trained at all. The person training wasn't doing a full monitoring of the trainee. He didn't even know how to stick a finger. He finally stuck my finger, but kept my hand elevated. Applying severe pressure between his thumb and middle finger on top of my knuckle. This is not proper procedure in doing this. He almost broke my finger. He was having problems filling the small tube of blood, but he managed to get it everywhere else. He applied so much pressure on the knuckle which again I state isn't proper procedure, I had to soak my finger in Epsom salts. Then when he finally got it done he took the tube in placed in the machine to separate the plasma and blood. He left it in the container for a long period of time. Finally he removed it and attempted to place the plasma for a test, but I watched as part of the blood went into the test. I even seen it and told them what I seen. As a person with over 17 years in the medical field it was pathetic to see two people who failed in administering such simple test. By their mishandling of the procedures I wasted an hour in trying to do something good because of their deliberate negligence. I recommend everyone to ask for someone who has been there awhile and if you think someone is in training then ask for someone else. If you don't then you may waste an hour or more and be told you can't donate. It's one thing if it's your fault because of improper diet, but if they fail to administer the test correctly then why should the donor suffer? Imcompetence!

Sometimes you hear staff complain about their jobs, but that's not unusual lol. Of course the first day took over 3 hours to donate because you run through so many tests, and they have many people coming in to donate. Some of the donators are sketchy, but the staff assures you that if anyone makes you feel uncomfortable then to tell them right away. Honestly the only bad thing about this place is when they miss your vein. If you're like me and are kinda scared about the whole IV thing, that's definitely the worst part. Besides that I only have one other critical comment. The are supposed to give you 5 extra dollars if you are a student, also sometimes they do these fun things that give you an opportunity to earn extra money. They've never given me my $5, even though everytime I go they say "you'll receive an extra five dollars for donating today because you're a student," and every time I've won extra money, they never credited it to my card. Oh yeah, don't be surprised when they give you an immunotek prepaid card, it sucks because you're always paying a fee to use it, but that's the only option.

There is a couple others here that I can't wave down and say thank you to, but literally all of you, thank you. I'm scared of needles, and they work with you, they talk to you and make the iv insertion quick and easy. I literally for some reason get Samantha most of the time when I need disconnected, she's super fast and super kind. Thank you everyone. Typically a hour is all it takes PS, your first time will take about 2-3 hours but honestly it's worth it. They seriously kick ass

I have been a faithful, regular donor for around two years now…read more The staff is very professional and friendly. The office is always clean and sanitized. Sometimes it can be very busy; the staff is well organized in multi tasking and the group works in harmony together rotating roles to handle an array of situations to keep things moving smoothly. Today as I sat down to donate, 2 seats down a gentleman had a seizure, he had a prior condition. I observed staff members respond in an expedited and calm manner to stabilize the gentleman until First responders arrived. Quality and compassionate care.

Each time has been pleasant and professional, regardless of how many people are there to donate. Today, I made an 11:15 appointment online the night before (and I was glad I did-- there were only two available appointment slots all day long!). I didn't do the Fast Pass question-and-answer preparation beforehand. I have in the past, but this time I didn't feel like getting out my laptop. This time, however, they told me it can now be done on an iPhone, which will be good to know for my next visit. I was the only one there when I arrived, and two phlebotomists were working. While Latoya was getting me prepped, though, three more donors came in. All were handled quickly and efficiently. I was in at 11:15 and out at 12:15. No pain, no problems, just a pleasant experience I'll be happy to repeat in 8 weeks. Thank you, American Red Cross!

Art was great, not to mention a good conversationalist. Although they were short staffed, both him and his female co-worker did what they had to with a cheery attitude and making our donations feel more than worth it. I recommend giving here when you can. Would say that this office isn't as modern inside as most donation centers and tucked into an…read moreindustrial area. That said it's very clean and the staff got me in and out quickly. Appointments are relatively easy to get on weekends which is nice.

After I was checked in the lady came to take me to get vitals…read more.. She didn't ask for my meds! I went to give the blood and she really hit a vein! I mean as in blood spurted out blood on me and her etc. It was a mess! I've given blood for many years and never had that happen before. Then as I leaving they asked me to set an appt for plasm! Are you kidding me? They knew what had just happened and they want me to set up another appointment?! they kept after me, so I said ok just to get out of there. I didn't show for the appointment. I did get a call for the local and regional mgrs. That was nice. I have to say that this was a while back. But one experience like that, and no thank-you! Never at location.
