I had to bring my toddler with me and he is all over the place and they were so understanding and tolerant of him. They accommodated my son and me and I am so grateful. For a medical center that has signs posted on their front door claiming they are taking precautions against COVID, I was alarmed the office was not promoting mask use. I thought this misfortune would end at the door, yet when Melissa Altman RN then met me for my appointment and was also not wearing one at all, she told me I could take mine off if it made me feel comfortable which obviously it did not and she didn't put on a mask to meet my comfort level displayed. Sometimes it can be very busy; the staff is well organized in multi tasking and the group works in harmony together rotating roles to handle an array of situations to keep things moving smoothly. Today as I sat down to donate, 2 seats down a gentleman had a seizure, he had a prior condition. I observed staff members respond in an expedited and calm manner to stabilize the gentleman until First responders arrived. Quality and compassionate care.

The pros include helping create medications, payment for donation ($50-75 depending on which number visit you are on) and friendly staff. I'm a hard stick and the staff listened when I recommended a vein and got it on the first time. The screening process seems picky enough to know they don't take useless plasma. The cons include a very long first time donor process. I was there just over 3 hours the first time. The wait times are also long on a regular day. I tried to go a second time (you have to donate twice in order for medication to be made out of it), but was turned down because my temp was too high. I waited more than 30 min just to be screened before getting set up in the donation area.

Moving from Austin I'm extremely disappointed with the availability of facilities here in town. My last home I could literally call and give the next day. My general gripe aside, I decided to travel a bit and visit The Blood Connection. Walking in, I found the people a sheer joy to be around. Course as a former comic, I lightened the mood and while they remained professional, made me feel at home. The goes for everyone, the receptionist, the "supervisor (sorry Brendan I think that's what you are)," the vital nurse and the "poker Alyssa" as sticker doesn't work for obvious reasons. The next thing you'll note this is an extremely clean facility which I can appreciate (ahem....not mentioning their plasma competition). I love the question all blood places ask "which arm would you like?" To which I always reply whatever is easiest for you! Unlike the other place, these people hit my vein second try (not their fault as my veins are deep and roll). I can appreciate them hitting it very quickly and relatively painless. I'd say the whole process was maybe 45 minutes? Hard to say as they said I was flowing good (to which I started wrapping) but running my mouth. I did hydrate so that helps out a lot. We wrapped up relatively quick and I got some snacks then hit the road. I was impressed with the staff and sterile environment to which I didn't have to linger about. I highly advise dropping by if you need to give blood. To which I'll end, please give it could save a life.

I thought it was odd, so I googled Any Lab Test now and called the office. (by the way this number gives you a west Ashley address) The owner Jennifer miller answered and I expressed to her my conflict. the conflict being that I was under the impression that I was making an appointment for the west Ashley office NOT Mt. P. She then told me I could reschedule. So I did. I was asked for an email and told I would receive a confirmation. I never received one. I called back and she said she misspelled my name but that a confirmation email wasn't needed, that I would still have my appointment. My husband and I pull into WEST ASHLEY office just to be told there is no appointment for the office. i then called the number back to express my frustration with Jennifer Miller who then decided to play back a voice recording of our conversation prior just to tell me that I MISUNDERSTOOD. I asked to speak to a manager and was told she was the OWNER. I could not believe the quality of customer service i was being given. I would not trust this office with any lab test. Nothing but confusion and no accountability.

If I bring a fast pass, why do they have to ask me my name 10 times, my date of birth 5 times. The re ask me several questions. I am trying to see the advantage of the Fast Pass for me. IT does take some to finish it before you get there. But the redundancy seems overboard. I am sure they are worried about all sorts of things and trying to be prudent/safe but really this is overkill. The actual act of giving blood took less than 10 minutes but still took around an hour. I know they can do better and hope they do. Their staff did a great job of getting the blood out once that started. I will keep giving but I hope they figure out how to streamline the process to help their staff take blood instead of doing all this paperwork that should be done with the fast pass.

The first time I found the front door locked at about 2:00PM on a weekday. The next time, the door was locked but I could see people inside. They tried to send me away through the door, but with persistence I was finally able to get them to open the door and explain. They said they are short staffed, and will begin normal operations starting Monday. Fair enough. I returned at 6:00PM Tuesday (their posted hours are until 7:00). I walked in and was apparently in the place alone. After 10 or so minutes a woman walked in through the front door and explained that they closed at 5:00. I said their posted hours are until 7:00 and she just said they closed early. I asked who is in charge and she said "Tripp." She refused to provide Tripp's last name or a phone number. She also refused to say who owns the place. She was even a bit rude about it, as if this was my fault. Before each trip, I phoned but all that answers is a machine that takes messages. Messages are not returned. No notices of operation changes are posted on their website or even the front door.
