I stayed here in July for 5 nights with friends. The cabin we stayed in was Owls head cottage. It…read moreis done with every detail thought of, millwork, textiles and layout. The beds were very comfortable and the grounds were magical and charming. Breakfast on the private porch looking at the trees and listening to the Brook was so cleansing and relaxing as a much needed break from the Manhattan craziness. The place on Keene is magical. there are near by food places offering home cooked entrees, vegetarian and gluten free options. There is also a near by restaurant, all within walking distance. Lake Placid is about 25 mis away. I will definitely visit again. We all had a terrific time.

Luxury after hiking all day. The gas fire place was perfect to cozy up next to. Especially after a cold and rainy fall day. We had a sleep number bed, so my husband and I could choose our own comfort. Anna was very pleasant and kind. We will definitely recommend this place to anyone we know. As a side note, if you are looking for a place to stay that's close to a lot of food options or shops. This is not it. Most places close early or are not open every day of the week. A bunch of the cabins have a kitchen in it, but not all. This did not bother us! We found local small places to eat within 10 Minutes of Dartbrook.

I have only good things to say about this place. I used Expedia to make the reservation. After…read morereading mostly wonderful reviews I was really curious and anxious to check out Mountain Brook Lodge myself. Plus, we were attending the Whiteface Oktoberfest and it was a perfect location in the little town of Wilmington just a short drive from our point of our interest. Before hitting the road, we called the owner to make sure he was expecting us because we knew we'd be arriving late. It wasn't a problem, he even told us to drive carefully and not to hurry. He was very comforting saying our room will be ready and waiting for our arrival. He gave us the room's number, so we could focus only on getting to our destination and not worry about anything else. After arriving I was deeply touched. Our room was not only ready for us, but with warm lights, a quiet TV on, and a slowly spinning ceiling fan. We felt extremely invited. The atmosphere was homey and cozy. After many hours on the road it was exactly what we needed and even more. Our accommodations were clean and pretty. Even the shower had a new curtain for us. Breakfast was basic, but I don't have bagels often and it was like a treat, toasted with butter and cream cheese, yum! There was more stuff to eat but I remember the delicious bagels the most and hard boil eggs of which I'm a big fan. I met the owner and shared my appreciation for his hospitality. He has a dog. The dog looked like a statue at first, but he was just chilling and it was easy to take picture of him. This unusual looking fellow was seated perfectly still for my photo and got little bit excited around my breakfast, but so was I, so it was totally understandable. After that I knew he was alright. The breakfast area was a great spot for having a morning meal or coffee during the day or just relaxing reading paper etc. Our room wasn't with 'a view' like I expected, but honestly I didn't know what to expect. The biggest window was in the front, a typical motel style setting. During the day, being located closer to the road could be little bit annoying because of the traffic noise. The nights were super quiet. It was good place to stay.

Very affordable as the hotels in Lake placid were all over $400/night. Overall, they made us feel very welcome (although the inquisition about whether we were guests of the hotel when we checked in at the hostess stand seemed a little over the top). In any event, the dining room is lovely with spectacular lake and mountain views out of the large windows. Service was very good and moved at a very good pace. My cocktail (old fashioned was good). We started with blackened shrimp and potstickers. The shrimp were very good and the potstickers were just okay. The dumpling dough was a little doughy and chewy in places but the flavors were nice. My husband had a filet for his entree which he liked and my mother-in-law liked her Chilean sea bass. I had curry shrimp which was pretty good. We definitely liked the chocolate mousse we had for dessert. It's a generous portion and very rich. They took a nice digital photo of us and printed it out and my mother-in-law loved that nice touch. Overall, a nice experience since it's a lovely venue and the service is great. Food is pricey (the beef filet was $89) and although it was fine, I wouldn't rate it exceptional I think some people might take issue with that but overall we really enjoyed our meal here.

Hadn't seen that before and personally I think it clashed. I am used to the Burrata coming with olive oil , salad and tomatoes which compliments the cheese much better. The New York strip was good. Tasty, flavorful. The only thing I would say is I asked for medium and it came out medium well. We saw a rainbow and end of the day it was a nice dinner. Kinda pricey, but you're paying for the view.

The drive to this resort in October is beautiful and so worth it. I will highly recommended the lakeside view and won't regret it when waking up every morning. Customer care & business affairs were not handled in an upstanding way. 1st offense was I was traveling there miles for a wedding and the wedding coordinator who answered the phone for booking wouldn't offer me the wedding rate when there were rooms available of the reserved rooms made by the bride. I had to ask 3 times before she said she could ask her manager to give at least 10% after saying no wedding discounted rate will be provided given I'm calling to book 2 days after a deadline they created which I was unaware of. I asked to speak to the manager. 2nd offense was the manager didn't want to discuss so didn't get to my call after attempting 2 days in a row essentially stating only 10% will be offered. Mind you the wedding rate was $250 less so yes it matters. 3rd offense was upon arrival the coordinator at the desk who I presume was the lady I spoke to over the phone a week prior did not address my man at all nor did she show smiling energy. His card was the one used and yet she only asked me for ID, snapping at him when he asked did she mean his as well. He obviously felt disregarded and disrespected when his money is being spent here whilst being polite to her. Mind you when we were checking out she was there seemingly intentionally ignoring us and taking her sweet time with a guest at her counter. We felt an attitude from her completely unwarranted which doesn't make us feel wanted at all place paid for such a beautiful occasion that gave them much money. 4th offense was the steak was not good quality. Their generations restaurant was known to be disgusting so we avoided it at all costs. The final offense was the toilet kept us up in the night with its noise and the carpet felt moist. It's got an outdated look throughout the building so I was not too surprised afterall. I do not recommend here and could recommend other respectable accommodations.
