I had been considering contact lenses for a while, but I wasn't sure if I was a good candidate for…read morethem or if I could handle touching my eyes every day! Dr. Levin was incredibly patient and answered all of my questions in detail, making sure I was comfortable with my decisions and also making sure I understood the best contacts for my eyes and how to properly use and maintain them. The clinic staff was also amazing as they taught me how to put in and remove the contacts, keep them clean, and keep my eyes healthy. No matter how many questions I had, it was always clear to me that my health and comfort was the most important thing to everyone I worked with in the office. I tried two different brands of lenses and then Dr. Levin re-examined my eyes to ensure everything looked good. I am so happy with my choice and so grateful that Dr. Levin cares so deeply about his patients and their comfort.

Note: I went to this clinic after not being able to reach my prior eye doctor. My goal of coming to…read morethis doctor was to get an exam to see if my vision had changed since early in the pandemic, to get new glasses because my old ones, while working great, were a bit beat up, and to get an updated contact lens prescription because those prescriptions expire (far too quickly in my opinion). Beginning with the callous way Dr. Levin informed me of the tragic passing of my previous eye doctor (hence why I couldn't reach my prior doc), I probably should have guessed this experience wasn't going to be great. I was shocked and visibly upset (we loved our previous doctor; he was a young family man gone far too soon). Dr. Levin's demeanor was awful and lacked empathy, especially in a snide comment about my deceased prior doc's approach to my vision correction. Even beyond that, his approach was incredibly off putting and paternalistic. And he did not listen to me when I asked explicitly for what I needed, including no interest in correcting a very minor astigmatism that was never corrected before and has never affected my vision. When the lens came, they were far too strong. I could not read with them (as I can with my prior prescription from years previous; my prescription has been very stable). New lens were ordered. These were better but not ideal. I asked repeatedly (prior to the new lenses) to just replicate my old prescription since it worked so well for me - I work on a computer or reading all day, I'm not a sniper, I don't need 20/15 distance vision at the expense of not being able to read up close. And I've never needed readers, as I can read and work perfectly without glasses on. For now, the glasses I ended up with are ok, but I still have trouble reading and just take my glasses off. I feel that I was trying to be upsold for progressives or a second set of glasses for reading, but again, I have never needed them in the past (my old glasses are on my face as I type this and work exactly as I need them to). Meanwhile, I was trying contact lens trials at the same time, to zero in on that prescription. This also did not go well. First, I was corrected for the minor astigmatism that I explicitly said was never an issue and was never corrected for previously (hence, his snide comments about my previous doctor "missing it"). Second, I could not read at all with the new contact lenses - everything was a blurry mess. And as they're in my eyes, I can't take them off to quickly read. I tried two other trials, each time explaining exactly what I needed, and never got the lenses I needed. The last set are still blurry while reading or using a computer, but I can see read a road sign an extra 1/2 mile away! Completely unnecessary. This was over a six month period, delayed because I have a busy schedule. I'm writing today out of frustration (they'll STILL taking up my time). Today, I called again to maybe finalize the issue, to check if the prescription of my ok-but-not-perfect glasses could simply be replicated in my contact prescription. It was rudely explained that the "glasses and contact prescriptions are never the same, because one touches the eye and the other doesn't". It went on. I get it! I didn't need to be talk to like a child. I'm not versed in your jargon, but I think you know what I meant - regardless of prescription, I want contacts that work like my glasses. The patient should not be held to the same technical standard as a co-worker in the industry. Pedantic and rude! This final conversation was via a returned call. The caller began by telling me they were dismissing my case (assuming also dismissing me as a patient) and mailing my final (not correct) prescription to me. Much of the conversation is detailed in the above paragraph. I will never return to this office, nor will I recommend it to anyone. I train young people who are learning to become healthcare providers. I would be mortified to know that any of them would act in their future practices the way Dr. Levin (or the technical staff) acted with me. Thankfully, my previous doctor's practice has been purchased and reopened, and I hope that I can return there when my next appointment comes around. In the meantime, I'll muddle through with these less-than-ideal glasses and contacts until my insurance is available to try again. Likely, I'll just continue to use my glasses prescription from years ago!

After speaking with the receptionist, I was amazed to receive a call back within 15 minutes from Dr. West, the specialist on call. She was incredibly kind, thorough, and compassionate. After listening to my symptoms, she made the decision to bring me in for an exam within two hours as we live two hours away. Despite her already full schedule, she fit me in and performed a careful, detailed examination. I couldn't be more grateful. Dr. West went above and beyond when she didn't have to, and she also made sure I was scheduled for a follow-up to continue monitoring things. Her care and professionalism gave me peace of mind during a very stressful time. I'm truly thankful.

I have been to this center for " specialty" care on 2 occasions and the 2nd time was worse then…read morethe1st. Although they do it politely, the 2 dr(s) I saw did nothing at all to diagnose or treat the chronic sinus inflammation that I have been suffering with for the past 18 months. With only a quick peek into my ears, nose and throat, they were confident of treating me by doing nothing. No tests such as blood draws, MRI or CT scan, X-rays or cultures were performed to try and correctly diagnose or put into place a treatment plan that could help me. I went to the Livonia clinic because I truely thought these are the Doctors with experience and back ground I needed to get better. What a joke. It is my opinion that this "specialty" care center is like a drive through clinic. The 2 doctors I saw should both read the U.of M. mission statement, because the treatment I received was opposite of what the U.of M. statement reads. Dr. Melissa Ann Pynnonen (the reason for this review) actually told me to "learn to live with my symtoms" and that I should go see a psyciatrist. Again, in my opinion, this Doctor treated me with what I felt was depraved indifference and border line reckless indangerment. 3 days later, as a last ditch attempt, I called another ENT Doctor who after talking to me by phone, agreed to see me the following day. This Lakeshore Doctor spent over an hour going through my medical history, ordering up both a CT scan and MRI, did blood draws for autoimmune T-cell testing and had me take X-rays and cultures. I received a call from this Doctor 4 days later and asked me to come in to his ofice that day. Test results were as follows, X-rays showed I had fluid build up in both lobes of my left lung, culture results showed that I have a fungal infection ( Candida Glabrata ) and must be treated with ant-fungal medication for the next 3-4 months and that due to the duration of this infection, it had spread into my ethmoid nasal passage. The upside to this is that I had finally found a ENT specialist who used his knowledge, experience and most of all his effort to help a paitent get better. To all of you other doctors, I can only say that your lack of effort is cruel at best. Your self proclaiming term of using the word "Specialist" is very wrong, because I see nothing special about you at all.

She asks for my referral. I'm thinking my eye dr's referral. She says no I need a global referral. Mind you I scheduled this appt over a week ago. So i should have been told this. I thought it was covered under my vision insurance. Linda says, "Well you didn't talk to me so I don't know." I respond with "I don't work here. So if no one tells me to get a global referral, why would I know?" She repeats that it's not her fault. She tells me the biller says my options are: 1. To wait until 9am and call my Primary for a referral. 2. Pay out of pocket $340 and get reimbursed once the referral is received. 3. Reschedule 1. I could have wasted my time sitting 45 minutes for my Primary Dr to open. Then ask them to rush a referral over when they require 24-48 hours notice. But why reward this office for ineptness??? 2. I mean if you can't inform a patient to bring a Global Referral for an appt, why would I subject myself to possibly being out of $340. 3. Reschedule with them? Nope b/c if everything I've stated. After I called to try and resolve this matter (and their mistake on extending this timeline so long), whoever I spoke to was super rude and condescending as if I was in the wrong.. I don't recommend anyone coming here. Super expensive anyways and they have horrible customer service... any other company would admit fault and write off the (less than) $200 fees they were trying to collect.
