I think the waitress could of told me the glass of white wine doesnt come in glasses and by bottle only when I asked for a glass of white wine - instead, she poured me a glass of sparkling wine. It was a bit frustrating because she didnt seem to understand English really well. It is, after all, Portugal so I understand. But I just didn't feel that welcomed here and it just seemed like they wanted to get more money out of your pocket instead of giving you a great service, or really, a regular and honest service which I had hoped for. I do know that it is common in Europe to pay for every little thing from bread and butter, olives, and water and they don't really put it upfront unless you insist to ask. I guess lesson learned! Food wise, it was pretty average Potuguese food. We had the Octopus and Grilled Golden Bream. Bot tasted ok but not great. If you are in Sintra town which is definitely touristy this could be one of your option because I kind of expect other surrounding restaurants to be about the same.

Ate here yesterday during our visit to Sintra. The service was fantastic and we were always attended to. The food was delicious as well. We ordered the picanha, veal with mushrooms, and 3 pepper steak. All came out cooked perfectly and with fantastic sauces/seasoning. They have a yummy drink called Sumol that I tried as well. The orange one is similar to Fanta. The almond cake for dessert was delicious as well.

    Pasta with shrimps, fantastic

Great food and quick service. We got the pasta with shrimps. High service charge of 23% included but prices are reasonable.

    That barbequed chicken was awesome!

Touristy Portuguese restaurant in the beautiful Sintra with a nice outdoor view. The food was exceptionally good and service was very friendly and pretty quick. However, we got suckered into ordering a quite over priced small bottle of wine that I later saw in Lisbon at a grocery store for €3,50 and on the bill we were charged €25. Not happy about that at all. Don't let them talk you into ordering a bottle unless you clear up the price first or your €25 lunch for two will cost €50.

Bream. Yum. I could not wait for the photo. Had to dig in.

Service was great. Food was good. I had the local fish called bream. A touch of course salt it was prepared with made it pop on the taste buds. Pizza was good too. I might want to ask for it well done to get the crust a little more crisp.

Smelled heavenly and great with piri-piri sauce if you like heat

I came here on recommendation from our tour guide and right when we were seated we got fresh bread, olives, and a plate of different cheeses which was unique and delicious! The meals were just as good and all the pictures foods are "original" so if that's what you're looking for then you're in for a treat!

Terrible food and even worse service. Avoid if possible. Worst experience on Lisbon and sadly same price as our bear meal.

It's a good place, clean very quick and quite cheap considering the touristic area where it's located.

The sangria (by the glass or in a clay jug) is a must.  We went all in as a group of four diners, ordering the sardine sandwich (incredibly fresh and layered with flavor), fried fish, octopus, scrumptious pig cheeks, and the most delicious chicken wings. Honestly, I could've skipped the steak sandwich, but everything else was outstanding. Didn't make it to dessert, but the plates we saw heading to other tables looked good. Even the bathroom adds to the experience, decorated like a home, complete with fake hanging "laundry". We walked in during a busy lunch time on a weekend day. WiFi is available if you need it. We ordered and while waiting, enjoyed a bottle of wine for €18, a great value for a sit down lunch. Food hit the table about 20 minutes in, which was perfectly reasonable. My wife went with the steak, potatoes, eggs and sautéed vegetables. The steak was seasoned perfectly. I had the codfish with cornbread, sweet potatoes and spinach, a dish that is distinctly Portuguese and done really well here. Generous portioning for one, and again the seasoning was spot on across the board. A small but appreciated detail: the espressos arrived on warm plates, a thoughtful touch that suggests the kitchen actually cares about what they're sending out. After a morning of climbing through Sintra's palaces and towers, this is exactly the kind of place you want to stumble upon. Highly recommend making it part of your afternoon.

Bacalhau na Vila -- A temple to Portugal's most iconic ingredient…read more Portugal has a deep culinary relationship with Bacalhau, and Bacalhau na Vila leans into that heritage completely. This isn't simply a restaurant that happens to serve cod; the entire concept is built around it. The menu explores bacalhau through multiple traditional preparations, each highlighting a different texture and flavour profile. We started with cream of spinach soup with cod, a surprisingly elegant opener. The soup was smooth and comforting, with the cod adding a savoury depth that balanced the creaminess without overpowering it. The appetizers showcased two beloved Portuguese classics. The codfish cakes (pastéis/bolinhos de bacalhau) were perfectly executed--light, crisp, and fluffy with well-balanced seasoning. The pataniscas, a looser cod fritter, had a rustic charm with a golden exterior and tender interior. For the main course we ordered roasted cod, which was excellent. The fish was flaky and deeply flavourful, demonstrating why bacalhau has been such an enduring staple in Portuguese cuisine. What makes the restaurant memorable is how intentionally it celebrates this ingredient. Cod has historically played a major role in Portugal's food culture, and Bacalhau na Vila turns that history into a cohesive dining experience. Service was friendly, attentive, and professional, with staff who clearly know the menu and take pride in the concept. If you're visiting Sintra and want to experience one of Portugal's most iconic ingredients prepared in several traditional styles, Bacalhau na Vila is a great place to do it.
