Addison is a beautiful place to live. BUT, This apartment company is MONEY HUNGRY! OUT TO GET YOU for sure. They have all kinds of random Fees that I have never heard of and they seem to just keep pulling them out of thin air at the last minute. I Lived there for almost 2 years and when I had an extenuating circumstance and uncontrollable change in my life, They DID NOT WORK WITH ME AT ALL.
I walked into the office a couple months prior to ask a million questions about all my options if I had to move out early. I had the girl print out material and write notes and ALL fees down for Transfering apartments, breaking lease, roomate change etc. I wanted to make sure I had ALL the information. Later, after my roomate and I decided what we were going to have to do we went in to communicate what was going on and let them know that my roommate was going to transfer to a new apartment in the same complex and I unfortunately had to move away. The guy started going through the process of what we would need to do and then he got to the FEES that we would have to pay. The information I had collected prior was not what we were being given. $350 Transfer Fee, $150 Non-Refundable Holding Fee (What is that anyway?), $150 Roomate Release Fee (Never heard of this). Previously I was told all we would have to pay would be the Transfer fee and that they would waive the Deposit because There was already a lease with my roomate's name on it. I told the guy the circumstances so he could go talk to the Leasing Manager KELLY BABB. He returned and said they couldn't waive any fees. Ready for the reason?! "If we waive the fee for you we have to waive the fee for everyone that comes in that day to do the same thing" !!! WHAT?!?! Not only are we continuing to do business with them but we have been great tenants for almost 2 years. I told them I felt like we were getting screwed. THE NEXT PART IS EVEN BETTER;
I asked the guy to get the Leasing Manager KELLY BABB so I could talk to her myself. She walks over in a huff, her hands were shaking, her nostrils were flaring and very rudely she began with, "So, You are wanting to break your lease early, you would like a transfer of lease and the fees for that are blah blah blah, How can I help you?"
I explained what had happened previously, I was not happy with being told two different things, and furthermore I didn't appreciate all the last minute and rediculous fees that we were being asked to pay. She was EXTREMELY RUDE and NOT HELPFUL. I let her know since there was nothing they were willing to do for us in these uncontrollable circumstances I would be writing reviews online to let others know how they were doing business.. She walked away. Not 5 minutes later she came back over and VERY BLATANTLY AND UNPROFESSIONALLY turned to my roommate (Who had been sitting quietly during all of this) and said, "We will go ahead and waive your $150 holding fee for her new apartment, ok?" Then walked away.
Not to mention, when we first moved in they "Waived" our Refundable deposit but charged us the Non-Refundable "Holding Fee"... so if you move in here DON'T EXPECT TO GET YOUR DEPOSIT BACK. They also tried to say that we were being taken care of because if we wanted to break our lease (Which we didn't) we would have to pay THOUSANDS of DOLLARS... They also tried to tell us that they were "waiving" our Application Fee (Which we wouldn't have had to pay anyway because we are transferring we didn't have to fill out another application) So they DIDN'T LISTEN and LIED to us.
I WILL NEVER MOVE INTO THIS COMPANIES APARTMENTS EVER AGAIN.
HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
I wouldn't recommend moving in unless you want to be SCREWED OVER BY FEES and UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGERS. read more
