Old South Confectionary - Chocolate sauce funnel cake.

Old South Confectionary

Anyhow, whenever I actually do get to the window, I swear I'm done in like thirty seconds. Why can't it be like that for all the ppl that wait ahead of me. What you can get : Foot Long Corn Dogs, Funnel Cakes, & Bacon Cheddar Ranch Fries along with beverage options. Located in the Georgia section of the Park.

Since then, I have been fan of the delicious, deep-fried batter sprinkled with powdered sugar. When my family moved to Georgia from Guam, I introduced by family to the tasty dessert which can usually be found at carnivals or fairs. Now, it has become somewhat of a tradition/ritual to get a funnel cake whenever we visit Six Flags Over Georgia. Old South Confectionary is located super close to the Six Flags Over Georgia entrance. After you enter the park, turn left as if you're heading towards the Georgia Scorcher, and you should see a small, hut-like food stand with a Ben & Jerry's stand to its left. This is where most people buy their funnel cakes, often on their way out of the park. Per the description on the park map, Old South is known for serving, "Deluxe funnel cakes and bacon cheddar ranch fries." I'm sure I had tried the bacon cheddar ranch fries at least once during the past several years that I have frequented the park. However, my friends, siblings, and I usually just get the funnel cake. There are several different options for funnel cakes, with the cheapest being $6.99 (powdered sugar only) to the most expensive option being $9.99 (Funnel Cake Sundae). Yes, it's a little outrageous for a funnel cake to cost almost ten bucks, but it is topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce, among other things. I usually stick to the basic funnel cake with just powdered sugar. The funnel cake here is pretty good, but I guess it would be difficult to mess it up since it's such a basic dessert. They (usually) make the funnel cake to order, so it is served hot on a paper plate. I like the crispy outer layer the most! The powdered sugar goes perfectly with the fried batter, but my main gripe with it is that the powdered sugar is often more clumpy than powdery. Overall, Old South Confectionary gets 4 stars for their hot and freshly-made funnel cakes conveniently located close to the park entrance. I had to knock off 1/2 a star for being overpriced (yeah, I know it's Six Flags but still!) and another 1/2 a star because the powdered sugar always seems to have a lot of "clumps" of sugar instead of being completely powdery. My friends, siblings, and I will undoubtedly continue to act on our tradition and share a funnel cake every time we visit Six Flags Over Georgia. =) [Review 274 of 366]

This one is located in the heart of Auburn Avenue, and embraces the soul of the historic neighborhood. The interior is small but does have the exposed brick which permeates the buildings historic charm. I love pecan pie and this one did not fail my expectations. Additionally, the blueberry cobbler was amazing. However, if you want update your gustatory experience and reward your taste buds, I recommend heating those desserts up and pairng it with some ice cream. Parking is limited though.

We drove downtown specifically to try out this spot - paid $8 for parking in the lot next to the building. Front space Clean fun inviting feel with handwritten notes on wall. Service: The young lady helping was nice, but we waited at least 10 minutes before she came to the front to greet and assist myself and another customer before me. No pudding available Cobbler: had barely any crust (iyktyk) and the filling could use improvement. I think we were also supposed to get ice cream ? If so we didn't get it. I got the cinnamon roll with apple butter. I thought it would be throughout but it was on top, and the roll itself was a little dry. Purchase 2 peanut butter cookies that were huge for my son. Not sure how they were but he didnt complain so I assume they were good.

They had an assortment of desserts available including cookies, cupcakes, banana pudding and peach cobbler. I ordered two red velvet cupcakes and an orange cranberry cupcake. To my pleasant surprise, I realized that they sell soul food and desserts. The soul food was not displayed, but still available to purchase due to the timing that I came in. The staff was so friendly and hospitable! There is no seating, so come ready to place your to go order and head home. The Saturday menu offered a few entrees and soulful sides, including baked pork chops with gravy, baked chicken, and fried fish. For sides, they had rice, macaroni and cheese, yams, collards and cornbread (and a few others, see a Saturday menu in the photo). They were sold out of baked chicken, so I opted for two pork chop dinners with macaroni, collards and yams for my family. It also included rice and cornbread. I was able to put the gravy on the side. They used sturdy to-go boxes and cupcake containers and nothing leaked out on my way home. I appreciated this a lot, because sometimes restaurants give you a styrofoam box that does not close, causing the sauces and juice from the food to leak out in the bag. The food was AMAZING! It tasted like it was made with love from scratch. I loved the pork chops and gravy, rice and cornbread. A Timeless Treat made the best macaroni and cheese that I've tried at a restaurant in Douglasville or Atlanta area! The portion was enough to have some for dinner and then the next day for lunch. Prepare for a nap after that meal! The red velvet cupcakes were good as well! Overall, I recommend this restaurant. I will be back to try the other items, since the menu rotates based on the day.
