Drove 60 miles to Adam's Auto group in Little Ferry, NJ to see a 2018 Land Rover Discover I planned to buy my daughter. Didn't call before coming, which was an issue because the car was not at that location but at their other facility in Paterson, NJ 20 mins away. I should have gone back home but I kept on course. Once there, George greeted me and let me check out the car.The sales sticker was in the window for $16,789 which is what was listed on CarGurus. There were multiple scratches around the car and a 3-4 inch deep scratch with a dent on the roof that he claimed was likely due to a tree falling on it. The inner cover to the rear hatch was detached as well so He quickly explained that the car was about to be serviced and said it wasn't ready to be sold. I asked why was it being advertised and he said the deal could still be done but the car had to be repaired first. I asked if the price could come down & he tells me the price is based on financing only because they make more money that way. I was paying in cash so he said I can't get that price and it would be much higher. He shows me fine print from their website and I counter that I found the car on CarGurus. During my initial visit, my sales representative "Ferris" seemed unaware of my situation but eventually acknowledged me. They attempted to resolve the issue by tampering with instead of replacing a faulty sensor on the engine. Unfortunately, shortly after leaving, the check engine light reactivated, and I also began to notice a vibration while braking. I contacted them right away, and they assured me that they would order the necessary sensor. Two days later, I returned to the dealership. This time, I was informed that they would also order new brakes and rotors. However, when I picked up the car two days after that, the vibration and shaking at speeds above 40 mph persisted, indicating that the car might need balancing or alignment. Feeling frustrated with the repeated trips, I requested that my sales representative "Ferris" to accompany me on a test drive to address these ongoing issues. However, I was told he wasn't a mechanic and that only someone from the service department could join me. They promised to call the following week, but after six days without any communication, I took matters into my own hands and paid out of pocket to have the car inspected, balanced, and aligned at a local Costco. At this point, I suspect the next time I hear from them will be when my license plates finally arrive. It's disheartening to see the level of customer service diminish after the contract was signed. Good referrals and repeat customers are crucial for any business, yet it feels like my transaction was all that mattered. This seems to be a common trend in today's sales environment. After over ten days without a call regarding my complaint, I reached out three days before my temporary plate expired on July 31, 2024. I was assured that my plates would arrive around 5 PM the next day. When I called back after that time, I received the same vague response. Two days later, with no follow-up and my plates still not in hand, I experienced another issue: the sunroof leaked during a rainstorm, leading me to believe I had purchased a lemon. On the morning of August 3, 2024, I returned to the dealership and requested a test drive with Adam, the owner and his son "Ferris" my sales representative, so he could experience the roughness of the ride firsthand. After a quick drive, he claimed the problem was simply that the tires needed to be rotated from front to back, assuring me that this would resolve that issue, as for leaking of sunroof, all appears to be clear. I was also told that the actual plates would arrive on Monday, August 5, 2024. So, my ongoing nightmare continues! To potential buyers: be cautious when considering Adams Auto Group. Was interested in a 2016 BMW 750i the dealership advertised on Carfax.com. Called the dealership twice to confirm that the car was available, and at the Little Ferry location. Confirmed an appointment by text for an hour later. In fact, Ronald, at the Paterson location, told me by text (which I still have) to meet specifically with Greg, at the Little Ferry location. When I got to the dealership the car was available and I was very interested based on the look of the car, but Greg would not let me do a test drive unless I committed to financing. I did not know whether I was going to finance or pay by cash, and I certainly wasn't going to commit to either without driving the car. How bizarre. So there I was, interested in buying the car, but the dealership wouldn't let me test drive it. These people don't even deserve ONE star. I can't speak for everyone at the Adams Auto Group but our experience with Jay was an absolute nightmare. Beware! The short version of the review: these people are very shady and will fail to be upfront and transparent when structuring a financial agreement. AVOID! For those wanting to read more details of our particular experience: We test drove one of their cars and were interested in the purchase. Jay was going to put together a financing package for us but conveniently failed to mention a $2,000 warranty that he added to the purchase price before he ran our credit (BTW, we got three hard credit pulls which lowered our credit score, he claims it was only done once, but there were three institutions that pulled it). It was late in the day so we had to wait until the next day to hear back from the bank. Jay called the next day to say the credit had been approved but the monthly payment seemed high, so when I asked him for the financing details he was very vague, and only after digging and asking multiple times did he confess to a $2,000 warranty (!!!). This was the first i'd head of it, and I told him I didn't want one and he said: "Unfortunately I cannot structure a deal without a warranty as part of the financial agreement sir. It has all been structured as one." Oh, thanks Jay!! That would've been nice to know before you ran our credit and wasted all of our times! Like I said, be wary of these people, they are nothing but sharks and snakes (apologies to the sharks and snakes) and very filthy business people. Bought a car from the location in Little Ferry in December 2018. Car has been in the shop longer than I had the chance to drive it. Almost $10,000 in parts and labor to get the car to the point where it drives like it's supposed to. If it wasn't for the much less than perfect extended warranty company (horrible), I would've done a voluntary repo. This place is horrible. The lot is big and you will have a lot to choose from, which is great. However, be VERY weary on any and EVERY car you look at. Some may be in pristine condition, others may LOOK pristine but are not. The latter would apply to me. I purchased a Dodge Charger from them with generally low miles and in seemingly good condition. The sales process is not the best, but this is one of those "buy here pay here" spots, so don't expect big name dealership quality. I had not even test driven the vehicle before I was being told to prepare the down payment and to provide this and that to finalize the deal. So it felt a bit rushed and pushy, to say the least. I worked with Eddie who was OK. Once the car was purchased and I drove off....it was all downhill. The fog light didn't work, I brought it in and they "fixed" it which in turn left the fog light a dark brown color and about 2 weeks later it began to smoke and went out again. They then had to replace the oil pressure sensor which they did do and it hasn't failed since, but they didn't attach the belly pan on the car properly, so 2 miles into my drive home it came off and began dragging on the highway. When I went back to have them fix it, they did a chop shop job by burning holes into it and holding it onto the car with a zip tie and a rope. Then the front passenger shock began to make noises, so I took it back and was told that it may need lubricating and to try that and if it didn't work to come back. Okay, great, I got it lubricated with professional grade chassis lube. I drove down to Florida and once the temperatures got high, the squeaking became a HUGE nuisance. It was a HORROR and embarrassing to drive around and have people look at your car like it was a tin can. I took it to a shop in Tampa and they found that the mount and the shock were shot. They went to contact the warranty company and the warranty company was MIA. They kept trying and trying while I was down there, and never got a response. When I came back I had another shop try to do the work, but the warranty company was still MIA. I then called the dealer and told them I'd be bringing it in to have them check it and they blew me off. One guy had no idea what planet he was in and transferred me to some other guy who was condescending about the whole thing. I then spoke to Adam, who's real name clearly isn't Adam, and he told me to go somewhere and have them contact the warranty company. He tried to be nice, but you could tell he was blowing me off and wiping his hands clean. The car was no more than a month old at this point, and they didn't want anything to do with it. The first guy I spoke to said they didn't have mechanics on site when I clearly stood there the day they "fixed" my fog light and saw a mechanic tearing into an E55 AMG to fix something. I also mentioned to them THE DAY I BOUGHT IT that the brakes were making a noise, and it was never even looked at. The only person I can remember who I can say hands down was great was Melanie. I'm not sure what her role is there, but she was always a real sweetheart and seemed to be a caring individual as a whole. Eddie was also helpful, to an extent. But everyone else was completely disastrous and now I'm stuck paying a loan on a car that is little by little breaking apart. The shocks are shot, I had to spend $800 on new tires, the brakes are BEYOND done, the dash has begun to rattle and the list goes on. On a side note, when I bought the car they said they'd "get it ready" which ended up being nothing. They gave me the car disgusting on the outside and even worse on the inside. It has coffee stains all over, dirt on the seats, a rip on the drivers seat and to top it off they didn't put the recommended oil in the car. All in all my OVERALL experience is bad and I would suggest to steer clear. They simply want to get rid of the cars they have at any cost, make their profits, and wave at you while you drive off and no longer become their problem. Also, DO NOT BUY THE WARRANTY. They get you interested in a car quote with a far price and then don't tell you until you are about to close the deal that there's a $1,495 prep fee (profit) to get the car ready for sale. In addition they tried offering me a 27,000 warranty package for $2,500 without telling me that the car comes with a mfg. warranty of 5 years/50,000 miles. They gave me a low ball offer on a trade in and don't negotiate a penny on their prices. They also never called me back when I was promised too calls. When they presented the price breakdown to me, they miscalculated the tax on the total purchase price instead of the difference between the purchase price and the trade-in value.
