She gave me the receptionist/optician's name.(Natalie) I got up my nerve and gave them a call. They couldn't have been nicer. Dr. Woodbridge is very personable and a sweetheart. I got a real, comprehensive exam. She has adorable kids. My eyes are good, but they have changed since the exam at the "other" place. They take my insurance, which is great! I like to wear vintage cateye frames from the 50s. Wasn't a problem. Natalie got it all measured up and sent out. She is very knowledgeable about vintage frames. They do seem to have a nice frame selection. Vicki was very pleasant too. I was concerned at first that Grandville was a drive, but definitely worth it. It's right downtown and easy to find. I guess what I really like is, this is old school service and courtesy. You aren't treated like "a-take-a-number-piece-of-meat." Definitely will be going back and telling everyone I know.

They had already checked on my insurance coverage, which takes a load off our minds right away. The optometrist, was amazing, and friendly! I could tell when I walked in people feel comfortable and cared for there. She took a full hour with me and explained different procedures with me, such as cataracts, contacts, bi- focals, eyelid correction& answered all my questions! Coming from a background where my brother Dr Dale Van Dyke, was always our family optometrist! I had moved back to Grandville and he was retired, so I tried the fast paced eye care places,like RX OPTICAL, etc...only to find rushed , and assembly line care. When I contacted them, they had no record of my son's trial daily lenses or what brand he used even though he has been seeing them for several years. The receptionist had to ask me for my lens prescription, I'm not sure why she couldn't just look it up in my file? Originally our prescriptions were able to be sent to us via email, but when called, they told us they could no longer send them. Then when they did give us them in person, they were the wrong prescriptions. I tried several sets of trial lenses and none of them worked, plus I had to call to find out if they were in yet. Nobody ever contacted me. It took over a month to get my prescriptions readjusted. I was first seen in April of 2025, and didn't get a correct prescription update until June of 2025. I've tried to go there in person twice when they were supposed to be open, and they had closed earlier than indicated on their door and on their website. My trial contacts took over 3 weeks to come in and I had to call to find out they were in. In October of 2025 I received a bill for my visits back in April. I'm not sure why they didn't bill them for Insurance when I was seen the first time. Clearly the organization needs a stronger team. I recently called Lowell Eye Care several weeks before my CostCo optical appointment. I requested to have my records sent to Costco since I would be changing my optometrist. My files were never sent over after being requested. I will no longer be Lowell Eye Care.

The old frames could not be repaired, but they got me into another frame with my prescription intact lickety split. I've been working with MIchigan Optical for a long time now, and once again it paid off. They have worked hard to get my goofy vision in check, putting me in the best lenses that hold up to wear and tear, have a wide frame of view, and where glare isn't a worry. These folks are no hacks.. they know the business. And no gimmicks to baffle the consumer. Just straight talk. Let's see your online dealer or big box at the mall do that. Shop local. It has been difficult to get an accurate prescription because I've had retinal surgery on one eye and I have an issue with floaters and the things that come with aging eyes in general. The staff was all very kind and upbeat. Dr. Richards was wonderful and very professional. I told her the problems I've had in the past with what appeared to be over correcting on my previous prescriptions and she adjusted my new prescription accordingly. The girl took me back question why I was coming in told her mainly I needed the vision field test done she said ok. They took me back to see Dr Hansen ask what brings me in today told him the samething a least a couple of times they said that they did not have me down for that what it was the main thing I needed. Dr they ask if I would come back tomorrow or late this week. They he finish the exam took me out to look at glasses which I did not want to get until after surgery and he agree it would be a good idea. So we when back to talk to the office manager (Chris) which I heard her very loudly tell him they cant do it bc they was short staff ( again not my problem) she told him she has 2 doctors in the rest of the week and over 200 pairs of glass on her desk to order right now(not my problem) She was so Disrespectful to Dr Hansen talking to him like that. She proceeded to come out and talk to me in the same tone of voice and said that they did not have time . I did call her rude and walk out. This person needed to be write up or fired. I believe I was the customer and not my problem she was short staff. They had many time to let me know and reschedule. 1 when I first walk in to the appt or called me to reschedule. 2. When the girl took me back. 3 when I saw Dr.Hansen. Rudeness was very wrong.
