Don't use this company... We call them out for an extraction and a clean and two days later the unit had a foul odor. When I called their office, the employee that answered the phone was rude to me, saying you only called for an extraction and it's our fault because we didn't use their equipment that they recommended. We are in property management have been and have been doing this for more than 20 years and have never had an issue with something like this. I have used Acumen three times and have never been disappointed. The rental I just moved out of had old carpet that was pretty gross. Ben came and suggested the power scrubber and some stain removal options; this carpets look brand new! In another house I cleaned the carpets didn't need the power a rubber but there are bleach spots, we discussed options to dye the carpet. This is a review for Acumen, a carpet cleaning company based in Lakewood, Washington. I needed some power stretching and a good cleaning for my carpet. The tech, Chad, arrived on time, wearing a mask. I met him outside and asked if he was vaccinated. He replied he wasn't. I realize it's a personal choice, and it's not within the purview of Acumen to ensure their employees are vaccinated. If they're not, however, that information should voluntarily be presented up front to the customer before the Acumen employee steps foot in the house, or even on the phone before the tech arrives. There are a lot of immunocompromised people out there, and it's possible for an asymptomatic tech to unwittingly pass on Covid to an unsuspecting home owner. My wife and I are fully vaccinated, so the risk was minimal. We chose to move forward with the carpet cleaning. While Chad was getting set up, the Acumen home office called and wanted to arrange payment. I was disappointed to discover they have no online web portal to take payments with. Their only options were cash, or taking a credit card number over the phone. It's 2021, and identity theft/stolen credit card information is rampant in our society. A secure web portal which allows the customer to pay their bill remotely online isn't just a good idea, it's a necessity. I understand Acumen is a small company, but there are a plethora of services out there to help small businesses modernize and get with the times. Giving credit card numbers to be written down/keyed manually over the phone is very outdated and insecure. Chad surveyed what we needed done and got to work. He did a fine job with the power stretching, and quickly had my 10-year old living room looking much better. Once we got to the cleaning phase, we found the battery had died on the Acumen van sitting in my driveway. Without a running van, there can be no carpet cleaning due to the specialized equipment built into the van. I have a battery charger, and have done mechanical things all my life, so it was no issue for me to put the charger on the van. After 10 minutes or so, we got the van running and cleaning could commence. I understand these things happen, but it's on the company to regularly survey their vehicles and keep them in running condition. Chad called the office, and was told that battery had never been changed or looked at since the company purchased the van. Had I not had a charger, or the knowledge of what to do, the entire trip and everyone's time would've been wasted as we waited for a rescue from Acumen's home base. The company needs to be more proactive about making sure their rigs are in solid working order, as it's not the customer's job to get their rigs running. The tech did a great job on the carpet cleaning itself. He was efficient and thorough, and vastly improved the look of the carpets he touched. Somehow, likely during the process of power stretching the carpets, Chad must have placed some kind of sharp, heavy object on my vinyl bathroom floor. I don't know what it was, but there's now a small dent in the vinyl which wasn't there the day before. We had just cleaned the vinyl the day before, and commented about how well it was holding up. There were no dents the day before, and we immediately noticed it after Chad left. It's a minor dent, but it's one more thing lacking in the "attention to detail" category. Chad himself was a very pleasant tech to talk with, and is a knowledgable professional in his field. So to sum up: - The carpet cleaning and power stretching itself all went fine. - The company doesn't allow any form of web-based payment, only accepting cash or manual credit card payment over the phone. - The tech didn't announce they were unvaccinated, which is potentially a life-threatening issue to certain segments of the population. - The Acumen van had a battery which was end-of-life due to company negligence by not proactively inspecting their rigs. - The tech unwittingly and (I'm sure) accidentally caused a nick in the vinyl floor of my bathroom, near where he was doing work. Still, it's damage to my home that wasn't previously there. Attention to care and detail when in someone else's home is critical. The cost for the cleaning and power stretching came to $440 after tax. While that seems somewhat high to me, it's not outlandishly high given their professional knowledge of how to make carpets look much better. Still, given the issues above, until the company makes some procedural changes, I'm not recommending Acumen to anyone else. While the tech himself seemed like a very decent human being, there were enough issues for me to steer clear of this company moving forward. read more

I am very upset with the unprofessional-ism in the management team within this company. We had our carpets cleaned, and the man who was there at the time did a great job! Unfortunately, our door to the master bedroom got shut by accident, because our windows are quite drafty. I understand that it is policy not to open a door if it is shut during carpet cleaning. Though we did have someone home at the time that let him know it was okay to enter the room, I understand why he wouldn't. When I called to ask if there was a way we could schedule a time for him to come back, the woman on the phone was extremely rude and said it was policy for them not to enter a room with a shut door and then said "Have a good day" and hung up. I then called back because I was in shock that I was hung up on. I asked to speak with the manager and she said that she was the owner. I am very appalled that the owner of a company would act in such an unprofessional way. We will be choosing to go with a different company from now on, and am sad that a company owner would treat their customers in such a way. read more
