Those darn Val-pak advertisements that come to my mailbox sure does work. The promise of a set price to clean your entire house sure sounds like a steal. At only $179 for cleaning all the carpets in the house, wow I need to jump on that!! Confirmed that with the person on the phone and an appointment was set for a week later. Price deception. Upon arrival... "whoops, those stairs were wider than what we thought", "the price only covers up to this much square foot range", "we need to put protectants and additives that bumps up the price if you truly want a good clean plus protection", "our cleaning strips the carpet so we need to add back protectant at an additional cost" and "it's no pressure to take this price but since we are here...". The price shot up to over $300 (tax included). Originally, I planned to use traditional shampooing that would cost about $275, I decided try to this new ChemDry method of cleaning since it is within 10% of expected budget. Service. Service and cleaning time were as expected: 2 to 2.5 hours to complete the work and no issues with the technician. First, he vacuumed the floor to remove any debris. Second, he sprayed their special "carbonating" solution over the surface. Third, a machine that looks similar to a floor buffer/polisher was used in conjunction with a mop-like attachment that spins over the carpet. The difference between their method and the traditional: they do not saturate the pad underneath and extract, they only clean the carpet itself. They claim that their solution does not contain chemicals and that their method dries much quicker. At the end, they "rake" the carpet to fluff back up the fibers as the machine flattens them during the cleaning process. Final verdict. As promised, the carpet dried within hours. Noticeably different was the fact there was no fresh scent or the feeling of clean like what a shampooing or steam cleaning does. One issue that bothered me was the fact that he had to wear shoes in the house but did not have booties like all other folks that come to provide home services. It is difficult to discern in my situation the huge difference in cleanliness of their method since I neither wear shoes in the house, have pets, and keep my floors well maintained. Still, I prefer the traditional method where I can "see, feel and smell" the difference. ________________________ *A call back to them requesting a "redo" of a spot they did was denied. They claimed that if I had purchased the extra protectant package (extra $150 or so to add some chemicals to their cleaning solution) then they would have no problem returning. The guy told me that I had "wear" patterns and their cleaning won't remove this. This is BS since the carpet is only 1 year old with low use: no shoes, no pets, no kids, no smoke and kept in excellent condition - no visible wear spots whatsoever. I think I will stick with the tried and true carpet shampoo and/or steaming from now on. I have to thank ChemDry for showing me the light. read more

I don't even know where to start...Steve goes above and BEYOND with not only the quality of his service, but with his genuine care and continual follow up. Our story is long, sad, and frustrating. As new tenants to the North End Tacoma neighborhood, with two elementary aged kiddos and a baby on the way, we were smacked in the face with a terrible experience with the property we leased the day we moved in. The property was not only filthy, but the carpets were soaked with obscene amount of cat urine (there was some dog too). Our oldest daughter is allergic and asthmatic. I am pregnant. It was terrible. The carpet, the padding, the subfloor...it all needs to go. The landlord refused to replace the carpet, and insisted Chem Dry could fix it. After his "carpet cleaning guy" cancelled last minute, I called up Steve. Bawling. Steve talked me through it, said he would be happy to come first thing the next morning. He was right on time, and extremely professional. His honest opinion was that the carpet needed to go. He vocalized that he could not guarantee that his service would remedy the problem. So, we had him talk with the landlord. The landlord still insisted on having the carpets cleaned, even against Steve's advice. So, Steve went to town, doing everything he could to help the situation. Unfortunately, as we all knew, the carpets still smell, and we are now breaking our lease and trying to find somewhere else to move. Steve has called me multiple times since he cleaned, seeing how things are going, checking in with our family. He is upset for us. He genuinely cares. I have never met a business owner as committed to genuinely helping his customers as much as Steve does. I will absolutely use him for any carpet or upholstery cleaning needs in the future, and will always recommend his service to anyone who is in the market as well. Hands Down. A few weeks ago I was very pleased with the carpet and couch cleaning job done by Steve Parks. My couch had sadly been thrown up on by my son and Steve was able to get all of the awful smell from the couch. My carpets were also pretty soiled due to having 4 kids and a dog. I'm happy to say that even after a few weeks the spots are still gone!!! We've had the carpets done before by other companies and the spots would come back quickly. The company is so good at what they do. Steve the new owner was so friendly. I had double. Oiled appointments and he came to my house early I. Order for me to make it to my next appointment. He gave me all my options up front with the cost. He got all the stains out of my carpet and my rental now smells fresh and the carpets look clean. I will definitely be calling him again to do my normal maintenance. He was not pushy in trying to get me to go with highest dollar package and in fact recommended I not use a treatment I ask for and saved me about 400 dollars right there. We just moved and had used this company after getting a flyer in the value pack. Like the other review, the special quickly went over $300 for just the basic service. The only plus was that the worker was able to do it on short notice and completed the job. Two days later we vacuumed and there was the most dirt and filth I have seen in a canister. The more we vacuum the less dirt there is. We called the company. He no showed the first two appointments. We called him and he told us he was on another job. He originally told us we probably had a bad pad. Then when he came (to the third appoint.) he told us that the carpet was probably cleaned to hot and melted the backing. We pulled the carpet up in several different spots and both the carpet backing and pad looked good. I called corporate to let them know about the level of service from the franchise owner and directed me back to the owner for a solution. On a phone call back from the owner, He stated that he would come back out and take a look at the carpets but they looked clean when he was already here. He also said that the photos my wife took were far fetched (and something about the hair and dirt in the pictures). He didn't like when I told him the photos were dated. Seeing how the circle was still going round and round, we ultimately learned our lesson, cut our loses and will take our business somewhere else in the future. We will NOT use Chem Dry or recommend it any of our family or friends. read more
