My dealings with Green & Ross on Queenston Road in Stoney Creek have always been A1, no problems whatsoever. They do my seasonal tire changeover as well as oil changes when I need them. I appreciate that they explain everything so I can understand them. No stars was not an option, so one star it is. I spent $3000 here on Friday March 6, 2026 to have the timing belt and other maintenance done on my Honda CRV. The next day, the low oil light came on. I had to pull over at the side of the road to check - indeed there was no oil measured using the dipstick. Luckily, I was a few hundred metres from a RONA, where I bought oil, and then a quick trip to the Honda dealership. Closed for the weekend, but today I learned that the timing belt had been installed incorrectly, so the oil had all leaked out. I was that close to have a seized engine and thousand of dollars in repairs. I called Active Green + Ross and they said they would do nothing unless I could drive the vehicle back to them...without oil....and I thought they were the car experts! So, they elected to take no responsibility whatsoever for correcting their mistake. I have the photos and description of their shoddy 'repair' from the Honda Dealership, but they say 'only our photos will do'. In my opinion, this is how an unreliable and unethical company operates. Rather than doing the right thing, always finding a reason not to. So, I will be contacting my lawyer and initiating a small claims court case. Obviously, this is a lot of time and stress. My recommendation is to stay away from this place. You have choices and you should choose a place that stands behind their work. read more

My oil change appointment took about 30-40 minutes. Pretty fast compared to some oil change places. I'd have given a higher rating if not for the price difference and a blank inspection page. When I called to inquire about the charge for oil change I was quoted $59.95 plus tax and environmental fees. The price I paid came to $86 after tax and environmental fees. It was higher than expected. They also did not fill out the inspection page. I only noticed it when I got back that I got a blank page. read more

Thank You for Your HONESTY. Recently my car dealership gave me a written quote for brake work they said was required. I went to Active Green because of good past experiences to get their quote. Of course it was better so I asked them to do the work. They had to order parts and when the parts arrived they started the work. As the work progressed they realized that my brakes did not need any work. They could have continued the work and charged me and I would never have known but instead they returned my car without any charge at all. We took our car in to have the winter tires switched over to summer tires, using Active Green and Ross as they had sold us the winter tires a few years ago in Toronto and offer life long tire changes for free. Paul called to advise us that the rear brakes were so bad that they were unsafe and that the car should not be driven. Quoting $1,500.00 to replace the brakes and stressing that he would not let anyone he knew drive this car. He also said we would need to sign an acknowledgement when we picked up the car that we were aware the car isn't safe. We picked up the car and immediately took it to our own repair guy. He not only said that the brakes are okay (we will need to replace them in the next year or so depending on our driving patterns) but when we told him the story he confirmed he'd heard similar stories from other people who'd taken their cars to the Active Green and Ross on Main and went so far as to call them 'criminals'. There is a history of them quoting ridiculous prices for work that isn't needed and trying to incite fear into the cars owners. Shame on them read more

I have always trusted Active Green & Ross in the past. They have sold me tires, done great repair work on my previous vehicles but this last experience troubled me. I made an appointment to switch over my winter tires to summer ones (they had done this for me in the past at this location with no problems) My appointment was for 12::30 plus I wanted an alignment done. I know this time of year is busy for them with seasonal tire changes. I dropped the car off at 12:30 and was told 2 hours (I was told this when I originally booked the appointment also) No problem, my wife and I would go for a leisurely lunch and come back. Came back at 2:30 and 2 tires were put on and car up on the hoist. By 3, all tires on and no alignment done yet as there was a vehicle getting that done also. Had to leave as we didnèt have 20 more minutes. My question, why book me for 12:30 if you are so busy? I can understand if you want me later but 3 hours for a tire change (tires on rims already) and alignment? My wife was going to bring her car here but found another place that was cheaper and kept quicker. Sadly, I am done with this location and will go to her choice next time.
