(Note they only take cash or check, and do not take credit cards because people challenge it, which makes sense because they tell you one price and charge you thousands more.) Dana the owner walked the boat with me, seemed very knowledgeable explaining the order of repair we needed to do. ( Mechanical, Electrical, structural, then cosmetic) my boat is an older bay liner (1988), all that made sense. He quoted me $1,500.00, to do a yearly maintenance and swap out the prop and change the hub to the new square style. He said he will be in touch to give me a quote to get the Mechanical and electrical dialed in and to see if it's even a project worth doing. I get a call on speaker phone with him and his son about a week later, about how the work is coming along and they have installed a new Binnacle, gages, done wiring, and was asking for me to come down to put a deposit. Being I was confused I told them I would be down the next day so they could walk me through what was going on. (I had not given permission to do any of this work they were talking about) I met with Andy the following day, where he walked me through all the work they had done. I asked him all this work was included in the $1500.00? Long story short, He apologized acknowledging he should have called and there was a miss communication, that the boat was mechanicalyy sound, and they believed that it was good to start all the work. He was about 80% threw all the work and assured me all the mechanical work and parts were good they were waiting on the prop, and they were going to finish going threw all the electrical and if there was any further problems he would call me if they needed to do more work. The estimated total was $4,200.00. He acknowledged that I was up set that they did $2,700.00 worth of work with OUT approval, and apologized multiple times. At this point I felt it was a sincere mistake, Andy said the boat would be ready for pick up the next Monday, and he would call if any thing changed. I show up to pick up the boat, going threw it with Dana and another tech, the boat still didn't have the new prop on it, on top of that it would die when the trim was actuated (they said the new Pinical was wired in wrong) and they would need to look at it. When I went in to pay the front desk didn't have the paper work, and said it would take some time to get the paper work together. I told them I couldn't wait / come back later. That I would have to pic up the next Monday. The front desk lady emailed me the final bill and it was now $5,400.00. I called her and asked her to speak with Dana and Andy to make sure there wasn't a mistake, she said she would and get back to me. (She never did) When I showed up on Monday to pick up the boat, work was completed new prop was installed and I will say the boat ran well. The bill was the same, so I asked Dana why it was $1,200.00 dollars more than a week ago, so we went through the bill. He pointed out that things were added like a key switch and blower motors and a host of other things that were not in the second estimate of cost, and stated they tried to get it close. I explained that's not close, and that I have been very nice and understanding, but I never approved this extra work, nor did I approve the first bout of extra work. That in fact I only approved the yearly maintenance and a new prop with the new style hub. It was my hope being a business owner he would do the right thing and at the very least honor the $4,200.00. estimate since I was for a second time not notified of additional work. He refused, explaining to me "this is how its done" that additional things pop up when fixing older boats that need a lot of work, "its takes too long to call for every thing". I may be wrong, but in 18 years as an automotive mechanic, Ive never done work that wasn't approved. In my personal opinion if work is done that wasn't approved, or worked outside of the budget, the business is taking on the cost at that point. I want to be clear in this review, I am not up set with the work that was done, or the cost of the work that was done. I am up set that at no point was I called, at no point did I approve or say yes to any of the work done out side of the Maintenance, Prop and hub replacement. The sheer audacity to think it's ok, to perform over $4,000.00 worth of work with out asking, and expecting some one to be ok with it and pay that is ridiculous, and un-ethical. Beware that when you go there not only do you have to pay cash / check, you may get charged for work you never approved. It's a slimy way of doing business, I would recommend every one take their business elsewhere, to a shop that has some ethical business practice. I will be contacting the BBB, FTC, and the Arizona Attorney General reporting for unfair business practices and possible stolen

We were fortunate enough to find Dallas and his "marina" just as he had finished stripping a used pontoon down to the frame and pontoons. He cleaned, sealed and painted the pontoons and frame and built the boat from the frame up exactly as we specified. If you cruise Lake 1 at The Islands in Gilbert, you'll find that a huge percentage of the boats here are Boatman Boats. Cruising the lake and running into our neighbors, we have not heard a single complaint about Dallas or Boatman Boats!

I purchased a boat from him based on his clear statements that the boat was in good condition and included a 1-year warranty. Those statements turned out to be completely unreliable. In less than 6 months, the motor failed. I contacted him immediately and gave him more than enough time -- over 2 months -- to honor his warranty and fix the issue. Instead, I received nothing but repeated delays and empty promises: * "Next week" * "I'll come check it" * "I'll take care of it" None of it ever happened. At this point, it is hard to see this as anything other than a consistent pattern of avoiding responsibility. Once the sale is completed, follow-through appears to be nonexistent. Because of this, I have been forced to pursue legal action to recover my damages. Serious Warning to Buyers If you are considering doing business here: * Do not rely on verbal warranties * Do not assume issues will be handled after purchase * Be prepared for delays and lack of accountability Final Thoughts A seller's credibility is proven after the sale, not during it. Unfortunately, my experience showed a complete lack of responsibility when it mattered most. I strongly recommend doing thorough due diligence and considering other options before making a purchase.

I got Morgan on the phone and she sold me without trying to! She was patient, friendly, and very professional. She even followed up with me like many others said they'd do, but never did. Just yesterday I spoke with Kenny regarding a part and was told it was on back order indefinitely. Kenny helped me find it elsewhere. Most people/businesses wouldn't do that. I appreciate the genuineness that spews out of these two. That's why I drive from San Tan Village to Glendale. I trust this place. I have my first service appointment scheduled for October and feel confident they will give me a fair price and do quality work.

I'd stay away from Primitive RV/Marine in 2023. here's my experience:…read more 14Feb requested an inspection quote for my 2017 MicroMinnie here on Yelp, declined the $499 plus $125 for 132-point inspection, Agreed to $350 for two hours of inspection notes from Ray. 07Mar appointment was at 10:00am, and when I arrived, the receptionist/desk guy did not know what type of RV I had, or what my appointment was for. Resolved the issue talking to the actual technicians and got some good info. Left travel trailer there and was told by the end of the week (4 business days) I would get inspected and then get the results that following Monday. 11Mar nothing heard all week, so I messaged on Yelp asking for an update. Was told Monday I'd get a call with info. 14Mar messaged again saying I hadn't heard back Monday or Tuesday. Was told there was a delay for pricing some parts and many employees didn't come to work. Will get the inspection report ASAP. "this isn't our usual experience, apologies" 15Mar again was told I would get the info by the end of the day. 16Mar I messaged again, asking what was going on. Was told the next morning my RV would be the first priority. 17Mar got a voicemail about the results, and 11:35am got a DocuSign via email with a $3,500 Work Order request. I chose to pick-up Monday morning to get another quote from another technician, since my travel trailer is a 2017 and only has 8,000 miles, mostly stored in the shade by an older couple before i bought it. 18Mar I asked if 11am was less chaotic for pick-up on Monday, but I never got a text back. 20Mar asked Monday at 10:00am again if 11:00am would work. Picked-up trailer and after my credit card was charged, it was $364 instead of the agreed no-tax $350. it truly was the icing on the cake; getting charged a fee (credit card fee? not sure, since it was never brought-up, and i later saw it on the receipt). Ray/Timothy at the end of all of this did not even offer to help me exit the packed parking area, unsurprisingly. He just acted like this was how it was, industry-wide. Because of all the clusterf***, I asked for a discount on the bad experience, and Ray/Timothy said it wasn't possible and made many excuses. I mentioned that competitor Top Notch RV does a complimentary lube while the wheels/hubs are already off: "a pre trip inspection is $278. That's 2 hours for me to go over your entire electrical system, appliances, plumbing, perform a gas leak test, roof inspection and do a general once over of your entire trailer. If you would like your bearings re-packed and brakes cleaned and adjusted which I highly recommend being done every year especially if you're going on a big trip it's $350" Primitive could easily clean/pack the bearings and clean/adjust the brakes while the hubs are off during the inspection, but i'm not sure even the $500 "Full Inspection" includes this. Mostly, I feel taken advantage of because I was super lenient and accommodating, but basically I paid $364 for my camper to be gone for almost 2 weeks, and for the techs to tell me that the tires and brakes are totally bad and unsafe. I took the camper to my local tire shop (Ron's in Tempe AZ) and they had the bearings and brakes cleaned/adjusted/lubed within a day for $250 total, and said the date of the tires and brakes isn't the only metric for safety (my tires aren't dry-rotted at all, but Primitive wanted to charge me for 4 new tires and 4 new brake hubs with parts costs double of what their competitor Top Notch quoted me. Also of note, Primitive RV doesn't have any certified/master RVIA/etc. technicians. Ray/Timothy claimed this was because people who are certified inspectors can't do the actual repairs after an inspection. This seems strange, since all the other companies around Phoenix quoted me for both inspections and repairs. I think he was trying to use some word trickery about when using RV comprehensive insurance, but I wasn't using insurance. 2/5 stars, would not do business with them again. I'll be leaving this review on other sites as well, which I rarely do (want to prevent other people from getting poor customer service and wasted time). Super let-down. I blocked Ray/Timothy here on Yelp, but I'm sure he/Primitive will post the usual excuses below this when my review hits. My guess is there will be something about being "a little confused" about my bad review, since I declined the full inspection (this is irrelevant to my argument about customer service and fraudulent attempts to fleece me out of new brakes and tires for no reason). He'll probably claim the tires are from 2015 and the brakes are from 2016, which according to some publication are 'unsafe' (yet my local shop said there's no dry-rot and they are fine for another year with tons of tread/pads). I'm sure he'll claim they went "above and beyond" to make sure I got what I needed, and they gave me lots of good info (this is also irrelevant to my complaints of double-priced parts and 13 days).
