I am writing this as someone who took the Stop the Bleed course at Boulder Rile and Pistol Club…read more While it's not advertised, during the month of May, it's "Stop the Bleed" month. The members of the club are sponsoring the fee for anyone to take the Stop the Bleed course during this month, so it was completely free for me to take the course today. The classroom was easy to get to via Google Maps and then following the signage to the range. There's no running water out there but there are portable toilets and wash station. The classroom is in an air conditioned building which was nice. Despite the class size of only 4 people today, we had 2 instructors, both emergency medical personnel with military and law enforcement medical experience. During the four hour class we got to practice using various types of tourniquets on ourselves and each other in case we are injured and need to self rescue. We even tested the tourniquet on an instructor wearing a spurting arm cuff so that we could test how good our skills were. In addition to tourniquet techniques, we learnt how to pack and stabilize wounds. For example, if a knife is left in place, to prevent it from moving around and cutting more parts internally, you have to stabilize the knife rather than taking it out. We also practiced on a spurting leg model that was made off of a scan of a real rifle shot victim's leg. You could feel where the bone had been hit and scooped out. We used coagulating gauze to help stop the bleed. Overall the class was fantastic and while I definitely will need to practice, I feel more confident in my ability to help others in distress right now than I did this morning prior to class. I definitely appreciate that the club cares enough about the community that they're willing to pay for anyone to take the course this month. Visited: May 2026

We got to…read morewatch his group compete in a time gun shooting competition & then when he was done he took us to the office to check us in. Only 2 guest per members is what the sign says. The man inside the nice air condition trailer was very friendly. You have to give him your ID & sign a form. Process was quick then we followed our friend out to our own little private shooting area. This area is for members only as there is a gate & you have to get out of your vehicle to swipe to get it to open. We grabbed area 10 that had a picnic table (they all do in this area) to sit @ and he went to the trailer to grab the targets & set us up. We got a nice, long, thorough lesson on how to properly hold a gun, the rules of handling a gun, he even had a fake plastic one for us to practice holding along with some other "gun" stuff. There is a small table you can lay your magazines, guns & amino on but it was a little rocky. Anyways my review is about Boulder Rifle & Pistol not my great new friend.......lol This place is super nice, very clean with a great set up. Even the port-a-potties are clean & don't stink!! There is no hand washing station so I would bring some hand sanitizer/hand wipes. Each station has a trashcan to dispose of your trash. You must pick up your bullet casings after you're done shooting & put them in the orange bucket next to the rake. The area we were @ someone didn't pick up their bullet shells naughty peeps! An employee did stop by to check on the trash can. I was amazed @ how nice & clean this range is. I've never shot guns outside just in inside ranges. My friend said it is set up in a way that others shouldn't end up getting shot. You're not allowed to shoot up in the air as that's a safety issue. This place is huge that's all I'm gonna say with different areas to shot in. Very well kept. I'm glad my friend gave us detailed directions on how to get into this place as it can be confusing and a little ways in from the main street. Once your inside you have to oblige to the 10mph speed limit or you can be asked to leave. I got to shoot my friend's Daniel Defense SBR with an 11.5" barrel (see photos & video) which was super cool & to think a few yrs ago I was scared of guns. I found that I really liked his Glock 19, Gen 5, MOS. He had custom triggers on all of his guns we tried out. Friendly suggestions: bring sunscreen to protect your skin. It can get hot out here & some spots do have a nice breeze but dress accordingly. Bring lots of water to drink, even electrolyte ones would be good to have. Bring some snacks just in case you may get hungry. I brought a cooler that I kept some bottle water in with a sandwich I made. I had a change of clothes in the car since I wore long sleeve shirt, jeans & sneakers. I threw on flip flops, shorts & a t-shirt on my way out. It's always a good idea to have a foldable chair in your car to have as an extra seat, even an umbrella to give you shade. I saw a bunch of those pull wagons for the competing guys that they used to lug their stuff around. Remember & know the gun rules (see my photos). Be safe & have fun!!

Another fantastic event put on by Progun Vegas and hosted by Dirt-13!…read more Wolverine Wednesday / Soviet Sunday is a fun, laid-back local match for AK enthusiasts. For just $20 you get: * Two or three shooting stages (you can run each one multiple times if time allows--I usually try to shoot at least two runs each) * A pizza lunch or dinner * A raffle ticket Today I completely botched my timing and rolled in 15 minutes after registration had closed. As I was walking back to my car, the lady working the counter chased me down and said if I was ready to shoot, they'd still let me jump in before they wrapped up. I quickly paid my $20, grabbed my "communist defender," and headed to the range. Both stages today ran just over 30 rounds and featured a good mix of paper and steel. One stage had you engaging a USPSA A/C zone target at 50-70 yards, along with some closer paper, while the other involved an array of 8 steel targets shot from four different positions at 30-40 yards.

The staff is warm, friendly, and professional, and the clubhouse has the vibe of a higher‑end lounge -- clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The range officers strike the perfect balance: helpful and attentive without hovering. Getting out there feels a bit like off‑roading, but once you arrive, you'll be glad you made the trip. As a co‑owner of a firearms‑related business, we use this range often and recommend it to our customers because it offers a relaxed, open outdoor environment compared to indoor ranges, which can be more restrictive and harder to get into. The covered shooting areas are clean, organized, and set up with chairs, and the entire outdoor space is well maintained. Even the other shooters are friendly and respectful, which makes the whole experience even better. If you want a great outdoor range with a welcoming atmosphere, Pro Guns is the place. Go once, and you'll understand why people keep coming back.

He's in the military and owns a bunch of different firearms, so he wanted to take me to an indoor range so I could try shooting properly. I don't have much experience with guns, but with his guidance I actually had a great time. The staff here were very friendly and professional. Before we started, they went over their policies and safety procedures thoroughly, which I really appreciated. As someone who's not a regular shooter, it made me feel a lot more comfortable. The range itself was clean, organized, and well run. Overall, it was a solid experience and a great place whether you're experienced or just trying shooting for the first time.

Range review I went…read moreshooting at Green Valley Range with my brother to break in a new handgun. The check-in process was great. An employee went over the rules and everything seemed fine. For $25 each, you get the use of the range, 2 targets, eye and ear protection rental, and they have a lounge with fountain sodas that you can hang out in after. There were a few MAGA shirts for sale, but as a bleeding heart liberal woman, I felt perfectly safe there. Since my gun was brand new and I haven't been shooting in about 20 years, my brother set up some target stickers on the side of one of the targets to ensure it was dialed in. After a few rounds, the RSO came by and questioned what we were doing. For some reason, this range uses a picture-frame style cardboard backing. Someone actually took the time to cut out the center of the cardboard. He was somewhat polite until he started complaining that we were shooting "his" cardboard frame and needed to stop. It's literally a piece of cardboard that was already riddled with holes. There was no explanation, other than the frame was his and we weren't allowed. My brother was a marksmanship instructor in the Marines for years and we could not come up with any valid reason. Other than that, we had a great time.
