Great Great Grrrrrrrreat!!!! Really good classroom teachings. No stupid videos of jabronis shooting themselves. No scare tactics. Just factual and opinionated (in a good way) teachings. Mike Orr has hands on life experiences which lend much credibility to his classroom!! Safety / safety / safer safety!!!!! This was my 6th ccw class in 3 states and by far the best!!!! My wife had never shot a gun before and was very apprehensive - Mike made her feel comfortable and took her under his wing to assist at the range while qualifying. Mike is a super instructor!! I highly recommend him for your CCW and weapon safety training. He'll make you a safer and better shooter, without question. He is also crazy sharp with all of the gun laws, which is no small task! Mike is not the ordinary, dry, "take your money", person. Just spent 3 days taking At The Ready's Defense Pistol Level 1,2, and 3 courses. Mike was very professional, personable, and knowledgeable as our instructor. Safety was always at the forefront and the lessons and drills we performed were very in depth and real world applicable. I highly recommend taking these courses with Mike and I look forward to coming back for his other courses, specifically his shotgun and rifle lessons. As we ended on the 3rd day, Mike said to call anytime in the future if we had questions and that he considered us as students for life. It was a great experience learning from him. A friend and I enrolled in Michael's CCW class last July. Michael is a terrific teacher! Patient, thorough, leaves nothing to question. I have recommended him to a couple of friends and after their training, they raved about him and his training. One friend took a gun safety class some time ago in the Denver area and left with more questions than answers. Not so with Michael! 5 stars aren't enough, in my opinion! read more

Took Mike's class today and it was fantastic. I highly recommend taking his CCW class or any of his defensive firearms training sessions. He kept us all engaged during the classroom portion of the CCW and it was never boring. When it was time for qualifying, he wasn't pushy or acting like a Drill Sargent at all. All of his instructions were clear, precise, and easy to follow. He showed great patience and taught me some great shooting tips and tricks that I will never forget. Like some of the other reviewers I don't often write reviews unless I'm really impressed! I was really impressed today by the way Mike taught this initial CCW class. It was a fun, relaxing, and super informative environment! He welcomed questions and scenarios throughout which is much appreciated, especially as a female sometimes "gun guys" have a way of making you feel like you don't want to ask anything. I took several classes before but this is first time writing a review. If you want the conceal weapon license class, I am strongly suggesting with Mike because below reasons. 1. He will make you understand the concept of firearms. 2. He will advise best way to have this licenses. 3. He will not cut short his class in any reason. 4. He will make you ready and make you feel confident. 5. He will make you happy that you made right decision to choose him. Mike Is a great instructor, he's experienced, knowledgeable and entertaining. He covers all the necessary information required by law for CCW in State of Nevada and Utah he also shares a lot of real life information and examples. He offers additional information that goes along with being a responsible CCW permit holder. Safety is key. He is a licensed NRA instructor for 15 years, so you can be assured he knows his stuff. Just took the CCW class with Mike yesterday and I am very impressed! I learned more than I thought I would learn. Mike was able to keep the class entertaining with great jokes to keep us engaged and has an extensive wealth of information. The packet he gives everyone to take home has a ton of info in it and he does not just teach the minimum standards. He will run drills with you until you are ready to call it quits. Mike has a lifetime of firearms experience to draw from. My gun came with a built in crimson tracer green laser. If I decided to use that gun at the range do I have to remove the laser? Or should i remove the laser? Brand new to guns also ..so i never once fired this gun yet.

As far as I know, all gun ranges allow lasers. I would suggest getting some training to avoid some bad habits like focusing on the target instead of the front sight. Lasers are useful for extreme close range where you are using point shooting, but…

We entered the store and did not receive a "Welcome in" or any type of greeting you would normally receive when entering a store as a paying customer. As we approached the counter we were met with an employee that was extremely dismissive and unprofessional. His attitude was relentlessly negative, and his behavior was clearly designed to obstruct the transaction rather than assist. As I began to fill out the background form, he took it upon himself to look up my address and it was determined that the address on my Driver's license would not satisfy the residential requirement on the background form, which I can easily have fixed with the DMV, however, he stopped the transaction and was extremely rude about it and was not helpful in explaining the process. When he was questioned about certain "store policies" he was making up during our conversation, he was unable to provide an answer, he was unhelpful and also refused to provide his or his superiors names when asked as well, we were told "we don't give out names here". We left the store with the intention to return the following day with the address correction documentation. The very next morning I received a call from the original dealer that Precision Armory was sending my merchandise back to them and the employee had made false allegations that we were attempting to make a straw transaction which has now damaged my reputation with the original dealer. There was absolutely no other explanation for this employee's behavior, other than he is racist and couldn't contain his disdain and hate for an African American man, it was evident all over his communication, expressions and demeanor, he couldn't hide it. Additionally, there are several other reviews from other customers citing similar discriminatory experiences with this store. I have made multiple attempts for the manager or owner to contact me directly, including a BBB complaint that has went ignored. I would not recommend this store, unless you support discrimination, racism and wickedness. There's so many other stores that will not treat their customers this way.

My friends and I visited this place, and we purchased the Gun Battle Package. In the beginning, you experience two simulations to get you used to what you are shooting. Then when you enter the maze that you will be maneuvering around in, they place a belt over you that emits an electric shock on your lower abdomen. You can choose the level of shock that you want to feel, the higher the level, the more you will feel it (shock level ranges 1-5). Each time that you are shot, you will feel the shock; therefore, there is no space in between. Whereas laser-tag takes time to reset itself before you can shoot or feel again. The game continues and you continuously feel a shock each time you are hit & you will still be able to shoot with no relapse. You fire real guns, and the bullets are blanks, but still have the powder in them (this is why you still wear the goggles) from my understanding. It's also a fun way to put your skills to the test if you are a regular shooter because you are not shooting at targets or metal plates. You are required to move around, use the skills that you learned, and shoot at a target that shoots back. You feel your adrenaline rushing through your body. You are even allowed to purchase a recording of your experience, which is worth it to look back at for memories. Such an amazing time, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys firearms, laser tag and/or just wants to have the experience! Trust me, you won't forget it.

I was very pleased with Mike's course and approach. From the onset when booking the class it became clear that Mike was very accommodating on schedule, which was a big plus for me. Upon entering the class, it became obvious that Mike was really trying to make the class not only enjoyable, but informative and worthwhile. Forget about the CCW requirements and application procedures, he covers all of that in full during the class and provides a nice folder with clear documentation, and a good CCW overview. What was really appreciated is the extra mile Mike goes to provide thought provoking training beyond the standard classroom requirement. Subjects like legal concerns and implications, self defense considerations under stress, gun safety protocols at home or on the range and under duress. And like others have stated, after the simple standard CCW range qualification was complete, Mike spent a lot of time and effort to transfer his real world knowledge to the students through simple but quality drills. I would highly recommend any CCW applicant to consider taking At The Ready course if they can! read more

I went to At The Ready, Inc to renew my Nevada CCW. I was one of those people who thought I knew it all about guns. I was wrong. It is one thing to stand in an indoor range and think you will make your shots count in the real world. Mike spent more time with me working pretty much any type of scenario you could possibly encounter. His training technique is at it's finest. Mike brings things to the table that most of us could not even think about and the training to survive those situations. Mike I appreciate the training you gave and the time spent. It is obvious that it isn't about making a buck, but that this is a passion you have in helping to give proper training so we can now take it to the next level and feel comfortable that I am prepared. Congratulations! You have found the best CCW course in town! Most gun owner know about budget vs cheap. You will find 'At The Ready' is the lowest priced CCW in town . Is it cheap or budget? Cheap is no quality. I found At The Ready to be the budget CCW class in the valley. It is a quality CCW class taught by a passionate instructor. Mike provides you a packet that cover the entire course information . He goes through the information in detail uses creative technique and adds in his humor and experiences that make the class entertaining. After this CCW course it improve my knowledge in firearm safety, gun laws, skill development and medical first aid. Class is taught in his home and give you the feel of a private class but without the premium price tag. Actual portion is done in the desert, enjoy the open air and have fun. If you have previous CCW permits and a lifetime of shooting, and think that you may be bored taking your mandatory class, you will not be bored by Mike. I have shot and had permits for many years, but following eagerly taking six pages of notes and learning an entirely new grip style, I had received a huge amount of valuable info. Mike covered it all...SAFETY, laws, responsibility/liability, carry and tactics, as well as anything from major adjustments to fine tuning of shooting skills. My wife only recently began shooting, never had a permit, and is still improving her English, had no problem learning all she needed and much more. I took the CCW class with Mike, he knows his stuff. Good balance between theoretical and practical covering the basics and advanced gun fighting, legal, ethical as well as treating trauma from ballistic wounds. No nonsense teaching, a few jokes and anecdotes to ward off boredom. Easy language for the average person to understand. Mike really wants to help people have the confidence and skills to be able to protect themselves and loved ones in case someone would attempt to offer personal violence on them, he does a great job of it. the only reason I gave ATR 4 out of 5 stars is because of the choice of range location, I understand the need to keep costs down, but I would prefer a controlled environment IE; a paying range, for safety reasons. Gotta agree with the other reviewers, Mike is the best in Nevada. So glad I took his course. I feel totally confident and prepared now. Mike was so generous with his knowledge and he provided far more than what I expected. He really takes the time to make sure each student knows the threats in realistic scenarios and how to effectively respond to them. None of it was cookie cutter or boring. During my spring break from college, I took this class with my parents and my brother. Mike was our instructor and he was very informative about the importance of understanding firearms. All of us had a great time and it was the one of the best classes I have ever taken with my family. Mike was open to any questions we had and he loved answering them. At first I was hesitant and nervous that he would be intimidating or judgmental on my lack of know how, but I was totally comfortable. Mike was very friendly, knowledgable and professional. I was really fortunate to find Mike for my CCW course. It was an experience I will never forget. Mike covered everything I needed to learn plus more. I have a good time during the lecture part and was really excited to try it at the range. The lecture was really informative and fun, no boring moment. During the shooting exercise/drill, I made some mistakes but he immediately corrected it, I've learned from that and practiced some (dry fire of course) when I arrived home. Even though this was a renewal class for me he still taught me a lot and has a way to make his class fun. I will always renew my ccw with him. If you have a great deal of experience and are looking to avoid the headache of a big class for your CCW, then Mike is your guy. I'm P.O.S.T certified in NV, a former federal agent, former military, etc. still have to go through the CCW process though....which is fine, I just wasn't keen on the big classes. I am an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and have Carry Permits in five other stats. By far Mike Orr (At The Ready) was the best class/instruction/training I have received. Class was sat up with just 2 days notice, relaxed comfortable environment. He taught information and drills above and beyond the state requirement which is only going to make you better and keep you alive. Mike's training was thorough and fun. He went well beyond what was required to get a CCW and got deep into what he felt was necessary to make the right choices when carrying. How to carry, what to carry, when (and when not) to carry. How to present yourself to law enforcement when carrying, and even not-so-basic life saving techniques. Wow! I just finished the CCW class and it was fantastic. I've been around firearms all my life and didn't think I was going to learn much but I was wrong! Mike's extreme experience goes far beyond CCW. By taking the monotonous "required" corriculum and incorporating his tactical, real life flare, it made the class enjoyable and well worth the money spent. I've done the CCW class, a fundamentals class a few times, and the Progressive Handgun 2-5 courses within maybe four months, and though I'm still new to it, I find myself being able to hold my own with a pistol among people that have had many years experience than me. That's not to say that I've been doing better or just as well, but for what I lack in experience, I'm gaining ground at a pretty rapid pace underneath these instructors. If your idea of range time is just standing in front of a target and plinking away, most of PFC's training is not for you. The introductory and CCW classes are a good gateway to the rest of the classes. There are classes that drill different exercises that include fighting positions, using barricades, movement under fire, low light, and handgun retention during engagements. If you come to these courses with an ego, it will be extra challenging because these courses and instructors are ever evolving, and you might be forced to challenge what you thought you already knew.
