Maggie and Ken are excellent trainers. They are patient, safe, and knowledgeable. They scale your experience based on your level of ability and do a great job of making sure everyone comes away with an improvement of skills and a plan for the future. My wife and I have taken their certification course, intro to self defense course, and fundamentals of home defense course. All were great and we are doing a fundamentals of concealed carry training next. They also have a low-light course now that sounds helpful. read more

Maggie and Ken were great. My husband used them previously and we decided to do our renewal class with them. They're very educated and skilled. Reading some of the reviews is actually shocking. You need people who know the ins and outs of the law and are confident, skilled and educated, which they are. As for the products they are "selling," they are products that are needed. I can say that I'm extremely happy they told us about some of the things that as a responsible gun owner, I should be aware of! The class wasn't boring. I remember in my first CCW class I was bored and wanted to fall asleep. They kept me engaged and I was really loving listening to what they were teaching. I found the information very helpful and useful. One thing they mentioned is they will build a class around your needs/schedule if there is a good enough need, which is great to know. They were really easy to work with and I appreciate their flexibility. I would highly recommend them and look forward to furthering my gun skills and confidence with them. read more

Just like other reviews have said. Maggie is rude and likes to argue with people when she isn't given a five star review. She texted me to try to gas light me after I left a Google review. I had to block her because she wanted/needed to have the last word. I called with some questions after purchasing a new fire arm after not having fire arms for over 20 years. Maggie immediately became aggressive and condescending after I told her I purchased Bodyguard. I am former law enforcement. She has no clue as to what self defense training I have , what belts I hold, what titles I have. She was arrogant and tried to tell me about self defense. Please, you don't know what I am capable of! I just wanted some extra training to get some of my firearm confidence back after being away from it as a LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER! You should see her reply on the Google review. Not impressed with the class. Convoluted information on law topics. Important information was done in a joking matter with giving the worst answer and it wasn't clear to everyone that the instructor was joking. (1/3 of the room was English as a second language and the person with them was having to explain the correct information) This class has more product placement and advertising than Josie and the pussycats movie. Majority of the power point slide had product suggestions and products that heavily suggest purchasing. read more

This review is based on having taken three classes with Maggie/Ken/HPP: - CCW - Introduction to Defensive Handgun - Fundamentals of Home Defense In all cases, Maggie, Ken, and their instructors have demonstrated a high level of experience and expertise with firearms, how to use them effectively, and even some of the legal ramifications that must be considered by those who've decided to keep/use firearms for defense. I'd like to especially note my experience in the Fundamentals of Home Defense Class, which included FOUR instructors for ten students: that's a pretty good instructor-to-learner ratio. Ken's assistant instructors deserve individual shout outs: Allen's police officer perspectives were frank and useful, as were Jay's teaching and physical demonstration of grips, stances, etc. Also, Charles seemed particularly suited to speaking to groups, presenting concepts, and being relatable. I especially found his skill in "tricking" me into falling for the simulated "Dynamic Critical Incident" to be highly effective. This simulation was my favorite part of the class. I look forward to my next class(es) with with HPP. read more

What an amazing team Ken and Maggie are. Truly incredible teachers. Patient, attentive and thorough. They made me feel comfortable and took the time to make sure what hand gun was right for me.
