Luckily, I was…read morewearing a helmet (please do - geeze people, be safe!), but I unfortunately sprained both of my ankles and struck my palm on the ground. It was pretty bad! I started my sessions with Mari in late June, and she a great job of assessing my movement and pain points. She set me up with a really achievable regimen of exercises and self-massage, and after a few weeks my hand and neck are already significantly better! The ankles are a bit more complex, but there is improvement, and Mari has really well of talking things over with me to make adjustments to prevent pain and strengthen in the right places. In our most recent session, she also used Graston technique (tissue scraping with tools) on the various tendons around my ankles, and I was amazed by how it brought relief that was significant, immediate, and lasting. Total wizardry!! Overall, I've loved working with Mari and appreciate her kindness and willingness to adjust her approach, and also talking over payment with me. It's great that she's in such a walkable spot near where I live in Maple Leaf!

Determined to avoid surgery, I sought out Mari and it's the best decision I could have made. She's been a game changer for me. With her expertise and unwavering support, I've made remarkable progress. She created a tailored plan that not only alleviated my pain but also restored my full range of motion. Her comprehensive approach and genuine care for my overall well-being made all the difference. As I completed my treatment this week, I feel a mix of joy and sadness because I will truly miss our sessions. If you have the chance to work with her, you are truly fortunate. Thank you, Mari, for your amazing support and for helping me reclaim my life!

Currently have a relative staying at Saint Anne's for rehab after surgery; he is not infirmed nor…read morein his late senior years. These are my observations and his recent experiences of the facility: 1) Small parking area fits around 20-25 vehicles & the parking spaces are small fitting economy sized cars, any vehicle larger will have very tight parking. 2) We are in the winter season and the resident rooms only have single-pane aluminum windows & sliding doors; if you have the curtains open you can feel the cold air penetrating into the room. 3) My relative had a nurse come in announcing it was time to change his colostomy bag, to which he replied that he didn't have a colostomy bag; the nurse debated his statement and then had to go re-affirm which was correct. My relative did not have a colostomy bag, which causes one to wonder the level of competency of the medical care team here with the other in-patient residences who are much older, infirmed and/or debilitated in a way to make it difficult to communicate; How often may have patients had their medications mixed up? 4) The food is not appealing nor appetizing. It is the standard frozen vegetables either boiled or steamed, dehydrated (mashed) potatoes, instant gravy mixes, products that can be called meat or meat-fare i.e. frozen hamburger patties, cooked and served like Salisbury steak topped with instant brown gravy. During some social events like dancing, etc., at least on one observed occasion "tea-like" sandwiches, like the ones you would serve at a ladies luncheon - cut into triangle fourths, were made available however, they were just basic bologna with white bread. 5) On one occasion, my relative had the care staff forget his breakfast and lunch on the same day so he only had a dinner meal. 6) On another occasion, he was brought breakfast & while the care staff person was still in the room setting his tray of food the PT trainer came in and took him to do PT before he had any breakfast; when my relative returned to his room approx. 30-45 mins later, his food tray had been taken. He had to go to the kitchen staff to ask if they could put something together for him to eat. 7) Night rounds for my relative include being wakened anytime between midnight to 3-A.M. every night/morning by maintenance staff coming in to change out his trash bins, instead of this task being done during the day; similarly with checking his glucose and blood pressure in the middle of the night. It is my current opinion that, the quality and attentiveness of the staffing can swing widely without prediction. That the current "night-time-checks" protocol is still in the antiquated mindset, instead of the more modern relationship-centered approach supported by technology that recognizes improving the sleep of older people, and those simply in-patient for physical rehab, could improve the participation and quality of everyday life for these temporary & permanent residences. I'm sure there are other facilities that may be worse, but I'm sure there are also facilities that are better. It would be most beneficial as a family or friend to be attentive, observant and advocate for any loved one who stays here. At the time of this review, my relative has been here at Saint Anne Nursing and Rehab Center for 12-days.

I saw Gretchen Lubin for 20 physical therapy sessions over 12 weeks for recovery from full knee…read morereplacement surgery in November 2024. I saw her twice a week in November and December and once a week in January 2025. In my first week of therapy she assigned 9 exercises which she increased to 13 after three weeks. She also added 1 - 3 lb. ankle weights after 3- 6 weeks of practice. I practiced these exercises at home every day 2x per day. All but six sessions with Gretchen were exactly the same: Gretchen observed me practicing the 9-13 exercises, then gave me a gentle massage on the lower leg and then iced the knee. In week 5, she had me begin bicycling. She also used the Tens machine and ultrasound in 3 sessions. While Gretchen was initially very helpful immediately after surgery, massaging my leg to help it feel more comfortable and assisting me gain strength, the results after 12 weeks seemed somewhat disappointing. Although I was stronger, my flexibility and functionality were fairly limited. Four weeks after surgery I was able to bend my knee to 105 degrees, but by week 12, I was still only able to bend my knee to 105 degrees. When questioned, Gretchen replied "the current thinking is strengthening the leg is more important than flexibility." I was frequently startled by Gretchen asking me "what would you like to do today?" I thought she should be answering that question based on her evaluation of me and I had hoped for a little variety in exercise. While Gretchen is a very gentle and nice person, and an excellent massage therapist, I feel her treatment is limited because she doe not do manual manipulation nor emphasize joint mobility or methods to reduce swelling besides a gentle massage. Gretchen is also very challenged by time management. She consistently runs 15 - 30 minutes late. Her clinic also lacks up-to-date exercise equipment. The new physical therapist I have seen, who has more of a "sports medicine" mindset, has been able to increase my knee flexibility by 10 degrees in a little over two weeks and improve the knee comfort level immeasurably.

In addition, she and the other PTs do lots of hands on massage and ultrasound when needed. I have been going here for 20 years and always come back. I can only assume the low reviews from out of state are for the wrong place.
