Preface: We didn't hire Action Fence, our neighbors did. We have no issue with our neighbors, they gave us lots of notice that the fence was going up and were not home at the time.
Action Fence decided to use our property as their staging area for installing the fence. They started by letting the first section of fence they removed drop into our yard, crushing several plants. I went out to inspect the damage. They did not apologize. At all. I was told, oh, yeah....it happens. I was polite, but very clear in my displeasure. I took a break to calm down, then went back outside to ask for a business card so that if the plants did not recover they could replace them. Half of the fence being replaced is hidden from the house by our garage. When I got back there I discovered them on our property ( again ) stomping on the old fence to break it up. Um, wow, please tell me you're going to clean all that up. We JUST landscaped and mulched our yard. I would prefer you do that in your client's yard, not mine. And they'd crushed another plant in the time I was gone. The guy handed me his card, telling me that I should calm down, 'those plants aren't broke...they're done for this year, but they'll come back up....you should have bigger things to worry about'. OMG. Absolutely not, sir. You are on my property, destroying plants and sending chunks of old fence every where...now you're being rude and dismissive? I called the number on the card and read the first two people I talked to the riot act. They told me the owner, Terry Gladstone, was just around the corner and would come right over. He was very apologetic, they shouldn't be on your yard, they shouldn't do any of that. Blah, blah, blah. Here's my card, we're working all weekend. Call me when they leave. If you're not happy, we'll be over at 9 am Monday to take care of it. When they left, I discovered that instead of cleaning up all the vines that had been on the fence they were all over the mulch. Several chunks of the old fence were still left in the ground. I called Terry and left a voicemail....then three more. He didn't actually call me back until I called the office again. He was rude on the phone and told me they usually leave those vines if you want them back up. Again, no apology for the damage, no apology for breaking the promises he made. I told him I was out of town and did not want them on the property if we were not home. I made later arrangements for them to come back. When I hadn't heard from him in several days, I called back. He told me they had been out. We think they trimmed the vines up several inches, but made no effort to remove them. They also didn't clean up the remaining fence. They did a half assed job and couldn't even follow the most basic instruction....to not be on my property when we weren't around.
So, in summary, if you'd like a company to trespass, damage property, be super rude and not take responsibility, by all means, hire Action Fence. read more
