I think I bought my first screen from Action about 15 years ago. It worked wonderfully and is still downstairs in the basement with the tower that I purchased from them a few years later. Both still work. Action is probably the best computer store on the planet, bar none. The staff is knowledgeable, courteous, and the customer service is something everyone in the store takes seriously. It has always been like that, and as a long-time customer, I know. A couple of weeks ago, I took my laptop in for a total diagnostic. I picked it up today and I couldn't be happier. It's running better than it did when it was new. These guys know what they are doing. I bought a beautiful used iMac a couple of years ago from them, and I was thrilled when I got it because a new 27" is $3K, easy. I paid $800.00, and it is as perfect as a brand new one. I can say without reservation that the service and selection is better than any other store. Update, y'all. After my 1-star review, store manager Jeff Myers reached out and was so gracious and apologetic about my not-so-hot experience above that I decided to bring in my beloved, 4-year-old Windows 10 laptop that had just mysteriously shut down on me. I use it for photo work and article-writing, so it's a big deal when it's out of commission. I know he was going out of his way for me, but he did have it whisked immediately to a tech and workbench. Unfortunately, it's non-revivable, but Jeff did put together a nice deal for me on a similar refurbished machine, also using what was left of my laptop. He listened to my wants and needs, and came up with a decent price as well. And he said if I went another direction, no hard feelings. No hard sell whatsoever, and he was professional and personable throughout the entire process. Just one note. Before I took Jeff up on his offer to make things right, I had dropped my laptop at another repair place with a 10-day wait and had just taken it out that day, thinking:There has to be *something* better than this! After some research, I'm going to spring for a new laptop (*heavy sigh*). In this case it's just a necessary evil. But I have a couple of older laptops that will no doubt need servicing, and I plan to put Action Computers back on my go-to list. I had been searching on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace for several months for a newer used iMac. An add came up for Action Computers. Incredible deal! I left a message for them to contact me. They called back immediately when they opened. They held the computer for me for the day. I drove down that afternoon. The building is a little scary. Location isn't great, but the staff was extremely courteous. The price was amazing. I took the computer to my regular Mac Dealer to be checked out and all was fine including the original warranty which was still in tact! Action Computers saved me at least $400.00. I brought my infected laptop here mid-December with a 2-week-out pick-up date of 12/31. Holidays got busy - I went to pick it up on 1/9. They could not find my file, and when they did, it showed that my laptop had not even been looked at until 1/7, nothing was done to it, and they said I had installed incryption software so they could not fix it. Magically, when I said that there was no such software, they fixed it, but I had to come back the next week. They kept my laptop for a month, offering no discount, although they gave me a small one when I requested it. Their staff seems stressed and struggling to control their snark at all times. I am getting some things done on my gaming tower and let me tell you, these guys are amazing they work quickly they Give you updates all the time on your CPU they also are very friendly and reliable I am big into gaming and needed my computer back within a few days so they offer a one time fee of $125 for a rush service which is reasonable compared to other places I've dealt with in the past, their diagnostic test are very reasonably priced as well as most places charge upwards of $99 just for a diagnostic test if you're Looking to get your computer fixed in a fast reasonable time I would definitely check out these guys as they are the best I found in the area will definitely be back in the future if my computer has any problems or issues again or even just to simply add more ram or more hard drive space into my computer read more

Top line: * Knowledgeable personnel. * No hard-sell. Informational approach. * They have good gear. And stand behind it. The story: I was looking for a PC for some business work I needed to do. I'd run the gamut of checking out new laptops, purchasing and returning a couple refurb laptops (they didn't work as promised) and even going to the Big Box stores (including Walmart) to evaluate systems. I studied the online reviews, went on Amazon, etc. There just wasn't the right fit for me: performance and price. Everything seemed overpriced or underpowered. And I was just wasting time. Eventually, I stopped at the Arvada Action Computers. They had a solid customer rating. Two salespersons really helped me out: Jeff and Bryan. Both can "talk nerd," or simplify the approach and talk about benefits and what each computer has or hasn't. And they listened to what I wanted. I purchased a Dell Latitude laptop. (I really wanted the almost brand-new Dell XPS -- they have one for $899, that's about $500 less than online -- but I didn't want to spend that much). The computer I purchased has a lot of RAM and is really fast and works like new -- plus, I wasn't worried because they have a six-month Warranty. Normally, I don't gush about companies. And I'm not a shill. But this company provided me with both what I was looking for at a good price, and good knowledgeable service and info. And, with their return policies and the six-month Warranty, they're trustworthy. Downside: The Arvada store only has so much space, so they only have so many computers and accessories. You have to keep your eyes peeled for what you're looking for. Again, if I was looking for an almost-new, or lower-priced PC or Macintosh with a warranty behind it, this is now the first place in Denver that I'd go. Seriously. read more

I ordered a laptop online and received my order dusty, and with a failing screen, and a broken keyboard. The reason I am giving a 4 star review though, is that they worked with me until the end to make sure I was satisfied with the replacement system I received. Still though, because of the rather lengthy delay, some of which was admittedly my fault, I just can't in good conscience give that fifth star. Have bought two used laptops from Dean and he made sure I had what I needed at a reasonable price for a freelancer and did not try to "upgrade" or sell me what was not necessary. Dean put together the right chargers and best security package. When I had a battery problem on last one, they tried to diagnose it, at no fee, to see if it were something simple before selling me new battery (which it needed.) I go in and throw up my hands - "Help!" and he and his colleagues have been hugely accommodating and took care of me immediately each time in. They are looking for used travel printer for me. This was review was long over due. I had purchased a computer for my fiance back in October as a birthday gift. It was simple: a laptop for doing grad school work and for emails. Nothing amazing. While their staff seemed knowledgeable their products were a sham. The computer came with windows 97 and nothing current, they said the programs would be compatible with current programs, however nothing seems to sync and work together. In all honesty that's not the reason for the 1 star review it's the battery. When I purchased the computer they gave me a battery that did not work and died the first day. The 2nd battery failed as well. On the 3rd visit the sales manager met with me and really didn't wish to spend a moment talking with me on the subject. He agreed to replace that battery with a new one that has never been used. Fast forward to 5 minutes ago just over 1 year from when we purchased the computer and the battery completely dies while being plugged in. So not only did the Sales Manger look me in the eye and lie about the battery he put in her computer she has a completed outdated computer that isn't compatible with any current programs on the market, and does not turn on. Simply put: Don't use this company for anything. Just go to Best Buy or Amazon and purchase these guys are scam artists, liars, and their products are weak. read more

I am really impressed. I just outfitted my new technical business with some really badass and custom computer power! It was a hefty, complicated, HUGE investment and everything had to be built custom to meet some hefty program requirements. It was a two week job and I am really happy. I would ad a few caveats: 1. For bigger jobs, talk to the highest in command. My first bid was by a lower level employee and when Jeff M saw it he completely rebuilt the system, saying the original would not meet the specs. So talk to Jeff or someone else high up for the big complicated stuff.. 2. They are busy. This is a good sign. Phones are ringing and they are going 10 different directions. Don't expect to chit chat: they don't have time. They are distracted so this will lead to item 3. 3. It is going to take some time. Expect to be in here about twice as long as you think. Switching out a mouse? That will take 15-20 minutes. Checking out today with my new system took ONE WHOLE HOUR. But that said, everything was tested and double checked before I went out the door, and I was given specific set up instructions (which I screwed up of course, and they helped me gently over the phone!) I was really pleased and think I got a very fair value for my money, and was treated respectfully by very knowledgeable staff. I hope they aren't sick of me because they are my new IT guys! read more

Somewhere in between a big-box electronics store and shopping on the Internet exists the perfect retail computer store. ActionPC isn't that store, but it comes close enough to get some of my business. Most of the computers and peripherals for sale here are used, but they are well cared for and reasonably priced. A great place to pick up a machine that "just works", and an even better place to get your general computing questions answered by knowledgable salesfolk. This is the place I'd send my mom/grandma for buying a machine, if only to make someone who gets paid for it answer all of the associated computer and Internet questions. This is not a place for bargains on new hardware, though they can special order pretty much anything you want if you prefer to support your community PC shop, or if you just plain don't like shopping the Internet. Also not a place I'd recommend for your gamer-junkie, high-end PC speed freak, unless you want to lay out the $$$ for having someone else buy and build for you. Where this place does shine for nerds is in the clutch: when your monitor dies on a Saturday morning, you can find a used 19" CRT on the shelf for under $10. When your mouse falls in to your coffee cup, you can find a used replacement here on the serious cheap. The selection of used cables is a dream if you're a tinkerer who is constantly looking for cables that connect to ancient hardware. And very occasionally, you can find non-PC/MAC stuff; Sun hardware is pretty rare on the shelf of any store, but here you can find keyboards, mice, and sometimes machines. In addition to hardware/software sales, they'll buy your used equipment (don't expect a lot of money for anything older than a year) and also provide electronics recycling services for helping you clean out the basement of all that old crap hardware that you don't use anymore. read more

As it turns out, one of their newer employees had run the specs on my computer. Jeff reassessed the computer and offered me a price closer to what I expected. While I was waiting for some performance tests on the CPU, I got a chance to look around a bit more. Their selection of high end laptops hadn't changed -- But, if I were looking for a good all purpose system, they had plenty to choose from at reasonable prices. I had performed corrective steps that voided the warranty, but pleaded my case that I took them because of the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the current COVID 19 pandemic. I am really sorry to say that this has NOT been a good experience. We purchased a computer from them and in two weeks we had to return it because it wasn't working properly. They have a no money back policy, so we took on another computer and within weeks my husband had to take it back AGAIN. (Noisy and slow as molasses) BTW we live and hour and a half away from the company. They kept it for a week I think and said nothing was wrong. It came back and it worked fine for awhile and now it is doing it again. You tube sound and Skype sound like they are underwater. The computer is running so slow. I wish there was an option for no stars. I was looking to replace my dual graphics cards in my laptop, and since I'd previously had not the greatest experience I spent about a month researching a computer place that I felt I could trust. I spoke to Action Computers on the phone and FB messenger, explained what I wanted done, my computer,and they said that they were confident they were up to the task. I was excited. Now, even though my laptop came with dual graphics cards, it didn't need them both. It would do just fine with one card slotted in the master slot. I know not a huge amount about computers, but I knew that. I told them that when I dropped it off. I was given an "appointment day" but was told since it would probably only take a few hours, they'd most like have it done in a couple days. They did not, but that's life. My appointment day comes...and goes. No word. I call them after a day to see what's going on, and I'm told that since the graphics card needs a new heatsink, they've ordered one and it'd be there in 3-5 days. Okay, sure. I'm not going to comment that I also told them that it needed said new heatsink when I dropped it off. I also told them what heatsink it needed. So they get the heatsink in, install it, hunky dory. I get no word still. I keep checking the customer portal. I see there's a note from the tech saying that because my computer came with dual graphics cards, it will only work with dual graphics cards. I called them. I didn't feel like arguing the point, I just told them I'd order another graphics card. I got said graphics card in a week or two, which they installed. Again, no call. I called after seeing notes on the customer portal saying that the cards don't work, the system won't post (start up properly). I'm told my system is too old and I should work with them on upgrading to a newer system. I was a little done at that point. I went into the store with every intention of just paying for whatever work they'd done and bringing it home. I was pretty irritated. I had also just broken my wrist the day before, so I was not in the best mood. I asked for my computer, and they were shocked. The store manager was brought out. I told him that they sucked, that I had done my research and now my laptop was a boat anchor. I asked if they' checked both graphics cards in the master slot to make sure that they both worked. Not even the tech knew that he had to do that. I asked if they'd flashed bios after installing the new cards. Nope. So, the manager keeps telling me that they want to make it right. They don't want me to be unsatisfied and leave with my computer inoperable, so let them check the cards, flash the bios, and get it in working order, and no more labor would be charged to me. I almost didn't agree anyway. He said the tech would call me that afternoon after checking the cards. He didn't, I called the next day to find out the second card (that they'd put in the master slot) was bad. So I ordered a replacement. It took a bit to come, and the post office had a mixup, but it finally came, and it takes them like a week to put it in. For the first time, they call me. They call me to tell me the system posts, but the graphics are really dim, and because the cards weren't originally intended for my system, they can't install the drivers. Okay, sure. I go to pick it up. It has been over 3 months that they had my computer. The tech rings me up, tells me the price. Wouldn't you know it, nobody wrote down that I wasn't supposed to be charged further labor. I point it out, and he disappears to talk to the manager for about a half an hour. Now, said manager, at one point, comes to do an override for another customer, and he would not even look in my direction, and I was standing right at the register. He had to physically strain to not look at me. Eventually, the tech comes back and tells me that they'll honor what the manager had said, but they won't warranty any of it. Which is just really sketchy. I bring my computer home. It won't post. It's beeping that the CMOS battery is a problem. I replace the CMOS battery. It still beeped. There's a problem with the windows boot files. How, you ask. Oh, I asked, too. I called and asked, and was hung up on. Four times. I had to use CMD to wipe my hole harddrive and reinstall windows after leaving my CMOS battery and laptop battery out for 3 weeks. Then my computer worked. You know the really hilarious part about all of this? The driver for the graphics cards? I had to alter 3 lines of code, and they installed in less than 5 minutes. Boy do I wish that I'd just followed the youtube video I found on how to install those exact graphic cards into my exact computer and saved myself all of this. 0/10 Will never go back there again. read more

A pleasure doing business with these folks. They carried my computer in from the car for me. I had called in ahead of time asking for my documents and pictures to be taken off my old computer. I was also interested in having the computer recycled. I got a lower than their usual price quote because the amount of data was rather small. They were able to put it on a USB memory stick. So I got charged a very reasonable fee plus the memory stick, and they recycled my computer safely for free! Colorado Blvd store. I had prior experience with this store, and not all of it good. A couple years ago, I bought a backup package (external drive and a backup). I actually had to restore my machine to the backup and found that much of the backup had not worked. I lost hundreds of pictures that were corrupted for my vintage guitar business and had to spend many hours re-taking pictures. Nevertheless, I decided to give the store another chance and bought a refurbished machine in late November. I loaded all my applications and migrated files myself (several hours of effort). But I noticed significant display issues with websites, especially those that use scripting such as ActiveX, Java, etc. Things looked wrong and functionality was limited. I called the store and asked to speak to the person who built the machine, "Nick". He logged on to my machine and after 5 minutes told me to bring machine in, along with my monitor. A couple days later (why so long?), someone else called me to say "no problem found" and said it was my own applications fault and to re-install them (or they would for a fee). So I re-installed MS Works, MSN Premium (email), MS Money, and a few other things. Same result, same issues viewing and interacting with web pages. So I talked to Colin the manager in sales. He took care of it this time and agreed to re-install the OS (XP). This fixed my problem. But I had to re-install most my applications again. Colin did agree to do a backup so I would not have to re-import all my files. But it still took me another 2-3 hours to get everything working and up. The whole experience was UNACCEPTABLE. I commend Colin for taking initiative to make it right. He also added a second CD read drive for me, no charge. But I had to lug my equipment to your store TWICE, do without a computer for over a week and spend HOURS re-loading software. Your tech did not build the machine correctly, and then failed to diagnose the problem twice, and did not even bother to call me in person. read more

I've always had a good experience with the service department at Action. All the technicians are friendly and knowledgeable. Recently I brought in my computer, talked to Camden, and the service was done in the time frame promised. Unfortunately I had to bring it back because it was still having problems but talked to Ben who was very accommodating; got the problem resolved quickly at no further charge. You need to find another computer store besides this one. Not only do they not know their jobs but they repeatily lie to you; down grade your computer and never actually fix the issues that are causing you headaches. We brought a laptop from them in July after ours died. It never worked right. It was brought back 3 times and they never fixed it so it would work right. We sell online and we couldn't get to our sellers account on Amazon. Etsy was a bit better but to check orders on our email account; well that froze just like Amazon on a regular basis. It got so bad this past weekend; we got no work done s the laptop was dumped back on them. We also rely on after hours use of wifi at the local library so we could get more work done for the busy holiday season but hard to do that with a frozen laptop. They say they work with you but they really just jerk you around. We are now not able to get a full refund from their piece of junk of a laptop while at the same time we had to buy another laptop to get work done with. This means over $500 is tied up and we didn't have an extra $500 so now we don't have money for food , petrol, etc while they continue to jerk us around. We are also mute so you can imagine how hard it is to find work and as well earn a living so selling online is one way to do it but we need a working computer to do that. These people were told this as well as given the list of items we needed on our computer and we didn't get anything we had to have on that laptop. As for free items from them; well they lie about that too. They downgrade you and then it costs more to get back what you lost (ram, dvd slot, memory card slot, etc) until you are just spending money every time you come back in to bring in that non working laptop. BBB is not helping either and when you use a debit card to buy things; the bank allows them to take your money straightaway while at the same time not having to provide you value for your money. If you see us picketing this store as we live right by it and we are frequently in the library; king soopers, the PO, etc in this same area; wave and drive on by to another computer store. read more

I call on Thursday and am told it hasn't been started but they will move it to next up. I wait and call Saturday (today) and the tech feeds me more nonspecific B.S. and tells me they will call me at 5 PM today and that it is being looked at now. I tell him I'm frustrated because it's been 4 days past when they were going to look at it and nothing they have told me has been true. Now they want to call me right before closing to update me? It pains me to give this place 2 stars. The staff was very polite and attentive when we communicated. But I dropped my laptop off and I was told 3-4 days. When I called after three days, they hadn't even started working on my computer and said it would be a couple of more days. I decided I would pick my laptop up and go somewhere else after a another day. On day five, I came in and SURPRISE! They were doing the diagnostic test, just as I showed up. (What timing, right?) In addition, the lobby could use a fresh coat of paint and somebody should mop the place. I know they are *old school* tech guys but the *old school* vibe doesn't play anymore.
