After coming to the place for children with autism for only two months he is about 80% potty trained and much more responsive when I speak to him. Our son loves everyone at the center and they are so good with him. They send us notifications and pictures of him throughout the day to keep us updated on what he's working on and we love it. I highly recommend The Place For Children with Autism, they are great with our son and have been such a blessing.

To be clear of my experience: Therapist was outstanding…read more Reason behind my rating: When I had originally enrolled my son to work with this facility my first and most important request was that he would have the ability to work with the same therapist. In receiving services with cps there was a lot inconsistency with services and the therapist was changing frequently. So naturally I thought that if we paid for private services this problem can be avoided. So I searched for a private practice . I was assured that the request for having my child consistently work with the same therapist would be fulfilled. Those assurances gave me peace of mind and with that we enroll our child. Now I'm being informed that my child will no longer be able to work with the same therapist due to policy change. I asked what the out of pocket expense would be to keep my son with the same therapist and was informed that "regrettably" that wasn't an option. Again I re-iterated to the facility prior to enrollment the importance it was for me to have 1 instructor work with my child. And now (a few short months later) my family and I can no longer be accommodated.

I experienced racial trauma and patient favoritism at the hands of Skyway Skokie staff. Another…read morepatient/Caucasian woman and myself/African-American woman had a disagreement. Because the staff is primarily composed of Caucasian women, they responded as Caucasian women usually do, They did not take the time to impartially investigate the situation in its entirety. My trauma reaction was to refuse to leave the room, so the group session could be continued. So the staff decided to move the session to another room and the Caucasian woman agreed to go. This is another white power structure play, the white power structure will favor those who will play their game of feigned-surrender; meaning because I was refusing to give up my seat to another patient and refused to leave the room - I was deemed the problem. I was so triggered I was unable to request tools to help me to calm down. I have experienced over five decades of white supremacy and was in treatment for a myriad of reasons, one of which was workplace bullying at the hands of Caucasian women, so yeah in that moment I struggled to calm down. Eventually I was asked to leave because I yelled and cussed while speaking with one of the medical site directors. I take full responsibility for my yelling and cussing. I wish I did not raise my voice and cuss because treatment should be a safe space for all. Staff needs to address their racism, which plays out in how they treat clients and respond to crisis situations. My previous post was removed by Yelp because they stated it was not detailed. We were lucky to have the care of Dr DiVincenzo who stabilized our son's breathing and we thankfully avoided the ER. Super compassionate care from start to finish and my kid loved that Peppa the Pig was playing in the lobby. This kid centered urgent care made the whole experience a lot less scary.

The NP was wonderful. She apologized for being late to the exam room. There was a woman in a gray T…read moreshirt who after I asked what time will the provider be in cause we had an appointment at 5:15 pm and we were waiting in the exam room for a while. Close to 6 pm and the NP finally came. I opened our exam room door cause it was getting uncomfortable and I wanted to know what time can someone be in. I wouldn't have minded waiting but the condescending tone of one of the employees there was surprising considering we are there for help as well. The last thing a parent needs with a child in need, is that type of reaction. It's very stressful on both ends although there could be more training in communication for that employee in these situations. Otherwise the NP and the front desk were warm and knowledgeable.
