We can rely on them to care, teach and provide him many learning experiences so he can become an independent little boy, ready for kindergarten. They helped him learn to talk more with wonderful songs, colors and shapes in Acorns, drink out of an open top cup, potty training & clean up after himself (lunch and toys) in Sprouts, learn all his letters, numbers, writing, follow direction, independence and more in Discovery and Koala classes. Each classroom has an appropriate teacher-student ratio with colorful, private rooms each with their own personality. And during the pandemic, they have kept each child and staff member safe with their rules to protect and keep the mask mandate since the kids are too young to vaccinate. Mrs. Waters and his pre-K teachers have supported our son in most his special ed needs by allowing his private therapists to come to the school. He gets SLP & OT sessions in per week while aligning with his teachers to work with his therapists which help him transition from therapy back to gym or class time. This has been such a big help to know he is getting many of his needs met. Thank you Mrs. Waters, Lynn, Brittany and all his teachers for your help, support, learning and life skills for our son throughout these years!!!

How much I hated my son going to that school. Let's start…read morewith his first grade teacher who was very pregnant but still "teaching" or should I say just showing up to work. After couple of weeks in that school she suggested that my son most likely will end up in special education class! She said it just like that. She didn't try to find any solution to help him she just said that to my face and left. It got me so mad but I didn't wan my boy to have any problems with this hormonal piece of sh...t so I kept quiet and got him best tutor I could get. After couple of months my son was scoring well above average on all their test and was suggested that he gets in more intensive program because he was so good. So much for her special education!!!!!! She was just to lazy to help my son, she would send no extra work home or nothing to even help me. Thankfully We're not in that school any more. After going thru hell thanks to the Norridge new superintendent. We have need discriminated over renting our house, discriminated over not being married and I have been treated like second class citizen because I have an accent!!!! Thanks a lot Giles school my son is going to3 rd grade now and still hates to talk about the "Norridge School" . Thanks for horrible drop offs and pick ups, thanks for throwing the children outside on freezing days, thanks for the yelling cafeteria teacher, thanks for starving my son on lunches because they had to hold their hands above their heads as a punishment for most of the time, thanks for your bulling problem, thank you for everything. Now we know what we DON'T WANT to school be like.

Do not send your student of color here! I had so many racist encounters here. A teacher smelled my…read morehair in front of the entire class because she was "curious", a student drew a swastika on the bottom of her shoe my freshman year, and some of my classmates were called the N-word along with it being said on several other occasions. Many of the Muslim students were made fun of for their religious beliefs. I was told that my hair was "sassy" by a classmate by sophomore year, whatever that means. Dr. Allworth did absolutely nothing when she was informed about it and her only solution was to put up posters around the school reminding students not to say the N-word instead of just holding the students who were saying it accountable. If a student donates a lot of money to Regina and does anything wrong, they will never face the repercussions of their actions as the school does not want to risk losing their funding. Not to mention the fact that I was assumed to be there on scholarship on several occasions because they couldn't fathom the fact that I could afford to be there. A student told me that she would call her father who was a police officer on me because she felt like I was using my "black privilege". All in all, this is not a safe environment for students of color, and was an extremely traumatizing experience for me.

This place is a hoot!  I dropped in here after a nearby lunch just to see what this place was like…read moreafter seeing a review, and having never been in their predecessor Chicago store of some 25 years on the northwest side of Chicago.  This store has been in Uptown Park Ridge for only about a year now, and for being on a busy commercial strip, they keep a low and quiet profile and are kind of easy to pass by and skip, because that's what I did for a year apparently! I was going to rate the store 4 stars, but I gotta give it 5 just because it's really a one of a kind shop.  They have all kinds of eclectic, random, fun, goofy, and also educational stuff and gadgets.  It's all supposed to have a bias towards science and education though.  Random things like military helmets, plastic wheels of various sizes, telescopes, microscopes, old typewriters, a Big Foot crossing sign, beakers and flasks, science kits, goofy models, toys, and trinklets, rubber mice, plastic ants for your next picnic, and whatever.  It's a great store for getting that unique geeky gift for someone, and also a place where inquisitive kids and adults alike can putz around and learn and laugh as well. They have their own convenient parking lot.  Their only other stores are in spread-out Geneva IL and Milwaukee WI.  Their prices ranged from cheap to modest from what I saw. The staff seems appropriately on the geeky side, but also friendly.  I met staffer Deborah and she showed me the signs depicting the company's history (since 1937!), and also informed me that coincidentally just two days ago they were featured on WGN-TV's Around Town morning show.  Here is the clip: https://wgntv.com/video/around-town-american-science-and-surplus/8385863/ Deborah told me after this TV clip, there was a big demand for their Bubble Blaster, which she happily demonstrated for me, and they sold out and had to restock their supply!  They also occasionally have free science party nights (next one is Feb 24 from 6:30 - 9pm) and those sound like a hoot for the kiddos.  I didn't buy anything this time, but do plan on bringing the grand-darlings back to putz around and probably walk away with who knows what next time lol.
