Terrible Service, Terrible Ownership. Mislead me to believe something was going to be $3000 due to the expense of the part, and it was better to put a whole new furnace that would come with a fresh warranty an be more efficient. Offered same day service and seemed friendly enough. $4800 for the new furnace. They arrive installed it in abut 2 hours, and everything seemed to be working. Looked at the furnace and found that the sticker said it was highly inefficient, and when I looked up the unit I could order the Furnace online and it would cost me about $880 shipped to me door. Which means they charged me almost $4,000 in labor for 2 hours of work. the tech told me their rate was $75.00 per hour. I called home depot and got a quote for the same unit and it was $2,800.I called and asked to have the unit replaced with a better more efficient furnace, and they told me no. Since they installed if within 72 hours of my call, it's considered an emergency, and I was not eligible to have it removed or replaced. No that I felt taken advantage of I looked up my Old unit and the part they said would cost $3000. I found it online for $35, and directions showing about 20 minutes of work to swap out. I called several times and got a hold of the owner who told me tough luck, he didn't have the time to deal with it, and go ahead and get a lawyer if I didn't like it. hung up on me. About 6 months later I get a call about setting up a maintenance visit, which would cost me $150.00 for an air filter change and a look over. I told them I would take care of it myself, and they explained that if I didn't have them do the maintenance, they would not honor the warranty. Nowhere in the manual does it say I'm forced to let them work on my furnace to ensure my Westinghouse warranty. I've come to find they sell that product because they are the only place in a great distance approved to perform warranty repairs and installs. A year later the new unit failed. I called for assistance, they refused to honor the warranty as I didn't pay them to do it, and they wouldn't even look at it to let me know if the issue was related to a maintenance issue, or defect. I called Westinghouse and they agreed the unit should be under warranty and the repairs should be covered. Action refused to look or help. I found that the board was not seeing flame, bought the part online for $90. installed it myself, has been fine ever since. AVOID AT ALL COST! read more

Completely unreliable, a shady business. I confirmed a mandatory warranty check up for our heater the day before it was scheduled. I confirmed again that morning. The technician was scheduled to show up anytime between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM. He never showed up and I was told by Rae that "someone" called and canceled my appointment. No name or number was available. I sent an email telling this company that if they wanted to keep my business, they would have to reschedule for a specific time and waive their $165 fee. The "boss", Bennie" called back and said he'd split the charge. I said no but later, the technician that had been scheduled called and said he would do the check up for no charge. I've tried to confirm the offer but all calls now go to voice mail. Messages and emails get no response. If you want to stay warm this winter, it would be cheaper and less aggravating to burn your house down rather than do business with this company. read more

Another customer who wishes there was a zero star option. Short version: Heating problem on 1 floor. Action did a bunch of diagnostics and said we needed an entire new boiler system ASAP, ours was dying, unsafe, quoted us $11,700 and up. Second opinion quickly determined the problem was a faulty thermostat, which was fixed for a total of $220 including labor and parts. Heat now works perfectly. Net saved by *not* using Action to solve our heating problem: $11,480. True, we do not have an entire new boiler....but we do not need one. Some day, when we actually do need a new boiler, we absolutely will not be getting it from Action. Quick service and nice guy came out, but that is really not worth $11,480 more...especially when the second opinion was quick and nice, too. read more

03/20/2015 Called Action to come out and perform annual maintenance to inspect the unit and humidifier. They claimed they got all work completed and my unit is good to go. After they left I noticed a large puddle coming from my flooring and sure enough the water was leaking from the unit. They forgot to verify that all the components were connected. Called then to try to have someone come back out to check the unit and to view the damage and work things out. The owner hung up on me and claimed that I intentionally disconnected the pipes in order to file a claim and told me to file a claim with the insurance company that he doesn't care. They never showed up to inspect the damage or fix the problem. I had to ask another company to come out and fix the problem. I wish I could give them a zero (0) the one star is not worth it on them. My heater was not running properly. Meanwhile, the weather was turning very cold out. In a pinch, I went with Action Heating because they were able to come right out. Ben (the owner) came out to diagnose. I had done a little research on the issue beforehand and asked Ben point blank "is the capacitor bad?" Ben told me that the capacitor was "fine". He then advised that I needed a whole new system costing several thousand $$. He pressured me to move ahead with an invoice/contract and to do the job the next day. After Ben left, I called a different company for a 2nd opinion. It turned out to be a $100 repair, that took less than 1/2 hour to diagnose and replace (you guessed it) the CAPACITOR = $15 part. Ben either does not know how to test a capacitor OR he lied to my face! The capacitor was in fact "electrically dead", so you be the judge. Avoid these guys like the plague! read more

Originally we had rated 5 stars as the tech was in the room and told us we would get a discount for doing a Yelp review. We did it. We regret it. Fast forward a few months and we ended up needing more work. The quote was insane for the job and it was a high pressure sales tactic. I almost caved until my fiancé called back and said hell no. We ended up getting the same job they quoted us at $2700 for $900. Still reputable company and good job for the $900. This is just one example of poor ethics. It depends on who they send. About six years ago our heat went out on a Saturday night. Our HVAC guy wouldn't come until Monday. So I sat down with the yellow pages and started calling names I was familiar with. They all asked if I was a present customer and when I said no they told me they would not come out that night. My last call was to ACTION. By now it was midnight. They said they would be out soon. I didn't believe it and went to bed. 15 minutes later a car came down the driveway and a man carried in two space heaters and told me they would fix everything on Sunday which they did. So when we needed a new A/C unit two years later who's else would I call? I was very happy with the unit, service and price. Then over the next couple of years they sent a tech here who I came to realize was a BSer and the company now knows is not welcome back. HaJust today Jim came out to service the heater and he was more than helpful. I had been having trouble finessing the filter in and out of the slot and he solved the problem. SCAM COMPANY ...DO NOT USE! 10/22/2018 SCAM OPERATION! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They were sub contracted by Weidner's Energy Service in Reading, Pa (in case you need Weidners service you know who they are giving you). I was not aware that Weidners were sub contracting now, instead of having there own repairmen which I have used in the past. The repair guy was prompt and curious. HOWEVER, due to him being new (as he said). He kept on calling this sales guy up on phone and walking away alot with the calls. He said a part in my heating unit was shot and they would not be able to order the part due to heater being old. Of course , I panicked because I needed this fixed. SO HE SAID I NEEDED A NEW HEATER. He got on the phone with the salesman. This sales man asked me how old i was and do I have any intentions on moving because of what he wanted to sell me. Really, I never heard any sales person ask this question...ever! I never told him my age. He said he had a new unit with a 15 - 25yr for 7129.00. Then he offered me another unit for the same amount of years new but slightly scratched for 6485.00. He also said they wanted a 500.00 deposit. The service call was 125.00, wrote the check out for the service call and they said they will deduct it from the 500.00. Len, who was the repair guy wrote me up the invoice and the waiver agreement. He said IF I CHANGE MY MIND REGARDING THE HEATER, THEY WILL BRING BACK MY OLD ONE AND PLACE IT BACK. Throughout this whole ordeal, i was having doubts . I should have told him I will get back to them on my decision and call other places, however, this sales guy was so pushy and I was so beside myself, I didn't listen to my gut feelings. Len said he was going to start to take things apart so it would lessen time for tomorrow. He took with him the cover of the heater and the pvc pipe that connected to the heater, at the time I didn't know why he took only two pieces with him. As soon as he left, I was so uncomfortable with this whole thing, Within less than a minute, I called Len back to return the pieces he took. He said he would get back to me. I got a call shortly after that and it was the pushy salesman. I told him I have a change of mind and i wanted my two pieces he took, back. The salesman told me that HE CAN NOT BRING BACK THE PART BECAUSE HE TOOK IT TO THE SCRAP PLACE! HE JUST LEFT! WHERE WAS THE SCRAP PLACE ? IN MY BACK YARD???? Then this arrogant salesman told me that I will be charged 500.00 for taking the part away to scrap!!! i said to him, the repairman told me that they would return everything if I decided on not wanting a new one. Thank goodness they didn't take the heater away only the two pieces that if I wanted to get rid of them , my garbage man would have taken it. I told the salesman I didn't want the heater anymore and I said a vulgar word along with that conversation. I have all the phone calls documented and everything along with pictures that I will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau. Besides, the estimate/contract that was written up , was not even signed by an authorized person. Again, this company is a SCAM. You can get a BRAND NEW HEATER WITH THE SAME WARRANTIES AND WHAT THEY OFFER FROM ANOTHER COMPANY ALOT CHEAPER. This salesman said If I find another company who charges cheaper, to get there written document and Action will reimburse the difference in cost. I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT. They will find some other way of not giving you the money. So this salesman said he is going to bill me 500.00 for something that could have been brought back. Really! I paid for the service call, but i will not pay for something that could have been returned to me. Also, when I spoke with Len the repairman about getting a second opinion, he said I didn't need the cover that the other companies can still start the gas furnace without it. When another repairman came over he said he would not be able to start the furnace because the guy CUT THE WIRES! The repairman didn't know why he would do this. So in all, they knew what they were doing in destroying your heater so they can try to sell you one of there heaters instead of fixing it. I paid $125.00 to be lied to and have my time wasted. My air conditioner wasn't working so I looked to Angie's list to find a reputable company to come out and diagnose the issue. It was about 8pm on Friday evening, and Action Heating & Air was the top-rated company so I called them first. They sent someone right out. Ben showed up at my house at about 9pm and quickly looked at the thermostat, the breaker and the system inside and outside of the house (a total of 5 minutes). He spoke very quickly and told me the unit needed to be replaced. That it was over "20 years old" and that the outside coils were disintegrating, etc. He quoted me two prices $4,000.00 to just replace the outside unit and $7,900.00 to replace the whole thing - we have 2.5 ton unit. My husband came home in the midst of this and didn't get a good feeling from Ben, so he decided to pass on the "offer/pitch" and call others for second opinions/quotes. Of course Ben quickly became annoyed and said we "you won't find a better price," and wrote up the slip for $125.00 and went on his way. After he left, we got a phone call from Manny at Action who said that we could reach out to him with any questions. The next day we had another HVAC service come out and the guy took his time and carefully diagnosed the issue - there was a clog in the drain in the condensate drain line because the air filter needed to be replaced (we just moved in a few months ago). The outside unit still had freon and as soon as the drain was cleared it began working properly. The repairman charged us $90.00 for the fix ($35.00 less than Action charged us to do nothing but lie and waste our time). My air conditioner is now working and the guy that fixed it said we should get 10 more years out of our 12-year old system (Ben told us it was more than 20 years old and could not be repaired, only replaced). We called Manny at Action back today to file a complaint, but he wasn't there so my husband spoke to Jim. Jim was annoyed and rushed once he realized the purpose of the call and said that Ben reported that he tested the freon levels and that they were at less than 20%, etc. When we told him that this wasn't true and that we didn't even need freon, he said he would refund us our $125.00 if (and when) it's still working this coming Monday (implying that he doesn't believe it's really fixed). We'll see if that happens. Overall, this is a company that preys on people when they are in desperate situations. I made the mistake of telling them we just moved here and I didn't know anything about the system, so they lied to me and made it seem like it was on it's last leg to make a quick and overpriced sale. Additionally, we did get quotes to replace the system from two other companies, for the outside unit it would be $2,900 (compared to Action's $4,000) and both inside and outside $4,000 (compared to Action's $7,900). read more

This company installed our heating system about 6 years ago. We've had zero issues. However to keep our warranty, we have to have them service the system every year to the tune of $165. Last year they were here about 15 minutes. They replaced the filter. No mention was made of this until months after the system was installed. They are the absolute pits. I spent over $10K on an entirely new HVAC system about 5 years ago with a 10 year warranty. After two years, it starts leaking coolant. They tell me a $10 pin was the problem but the warranty did not cover the $700 charge to recharge the coolant. This was last year 2014. Now this year 2015, more problems. They come out to do preventive maintenance and did absolutely nothing. Two weeks later, AC is not working. We finally call another company who tells us the compressor was never cleaned and was packed with dirt and debris, meaning Action did NOTHING. Also, it seems we are still leaking coolant so they never fixed the problem from the year before. Oh, he could get me a "scratch and dent" deal for $200 less. What a guy. So my neighbor hears me complaining about this shit, and, says I know a guy who fixed our AC unit. My gas steam furnace stopped working and we called Action for a service call. I'm now going to ONLY hire companies that do NOT charge an automatic service call fee because I think that may indicate the culture of the company. The Action guy came out and looked at the furnace for 5 minutes before determining that it was "cracked". He made four different calls for the "best" quote and came back with $12,000. I almost died. We got a second opinion and some local guys came over -- with no charge for an estimate -- and immediately said that the furnace isn't cracked. They fixed a part for $115 dollars total. I am giving Action two stars because I immediately called them after the furnace was fixed by the other company and explained what happened. The office manager apologized and sent a check to return the $125 service charge, no questions asked. Don't call Action Air Conditioning & Heating to troubleshoot and fix your system. They WILL tell you it needs to be replaced. You'll ask why it can't be fixed instead of replaced. They will tell you that sometimes they just don't last that long. I'm on my 3rd full system in less than 12 years. So when they offered me $1500 as a resolution and to not leave a review, I passed.
