I emailed Bill, and he was very quickly responsive, and he was able to come over 3 business days later. Thankfully, the lid wasn't an issue, and Bill was able to tune up the piano and straighten up a crooked hammer. The whole process took about an hour and cost less than I expected. (He charged me $150, which I thought was very reasonable.) Bill also didn't visibly judge my messy house crammed with sports gear and kids toys. I'll happily call him again to help keep my Yamaha baby grand piano in decent working order.

I have known many piano tuners over the years, and always found that the traditional tuners who start with a tuning fork (and Not an iPhone) are the best. Mike did a fantastic job, was on time and had very reasonable rates. Much better rates and service than my last three tuners. Mike is my tuner for as long as I am in Richmond! Knabe & Co. baby grand had not been cleaned in decades -- likely since it was built in 1939. Jack Templeton gave it the kind of care and attention it deserved; a meticulous (and miraculous) deep cleaning, a tuning with careful pitch adjustment, and even lubrication of the pedals. Beyond the excellent craftsmanship, he brought a big smile, a friendly tolerance of our nosy golden retriever, and deep knowledge of his craft. It's rare to find someone who combines such expertise with genuine warmth and professionalism. He plays beautifully too. I would enthusiastically recommend Jack Templeton to anyone who wishes their piano to be treated with love and the highest level of skill. It sounds and looks great now. I can clearly see the Knabe crest too. Thank you!
